Tiger 14 News Post

The Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 patch is available now for PS3 users, weighing in at 28 MB. The team is currently awaiting Microsoft to approve the patch before giving a release date for 360 users.

UPDATE: The 360 patch arrives Friday, May 3rd.

To go along with this patch, a total statistical online reset will occur on the servers. Created golfer level, XP points, coin bank, and all offline stats will remain unaffected.

EA Sports and the Tiger 14 team are crediting everyone's account with 25,000 coins as a thank you for your patience.

Below is a list of fixes.
  • Fix for H2H online issue where players get incorrect stats after completing event (including DNFs, etc...)
  • Fix for Legends of the Majors multiple part challenges not working in rare instances.
  • Fix to move aiming spin back to right stick if right stick is your hit stick
  • Restored original follow camera for putting
  • Fix the camera button from defaulting back to regular view when changing holes
  • Fix for H2H cameras so they no longer pull back after a ball comes to a rest

  • Fix Strike Meter to always be 'sticky' for Move players

  • Fix for user's score not displaying in the front-end leaderboard when submitting a score for play the pro event
  • Fix for 'next hole' stats not appearing correctly in live tournaments
  • Fix for score column showing incorrect information after playing multiple rounds in Play the Pros.
  • Fix for playoffs sometimes going to night (if choosing to play night or live time of day, playoffs can still go to night)

  • Fix for crash in golfer level purchase flow where coin price is incorrectly set to 0 coins
  • Fix for mute user functionality where user becomes un-muted when a new user joins the session or a user leaves the session

Sean Wilson updated the 360 patch news last night after 9:30 PM EDT. It just said that at that time there were still no problems reported by Microsoft. He thought they would have gotten confirmation that the patch was good to go yesterday though. I asked him this morning if EA had been able to confirm that the club resetting and disappearing putterhead/shaft issues had shown up in their internal testing of the 360 version, after being able to reproduce it in house on the PS3, post-patch. I doubt I'll see an answer until I get home from work this afternoon. I still haven't read where they had officially confirmed this to be a problem with the 360 patch as of last night.

Thanks for the update. The real question though is why is the cut glitch still an issue. That should have been concern #1.

Official word from Tiger Woods 15 Producer, Sean Wilson is that the patch has been approved by Microsoft, and in all likelihood will go live tomorrow morning! I can't wait to start playing this game again and this patch fixes the major stumbling blocks for me. It also looks very much like there will be a second patch, to fix the other issues. I would imagine this second patch would be for both the PS3 and 360.

We don't know for sure how the problems will affect this 360 version, but the prevailing sense is that we will see them. Sean says if you see the resetting clubs issue after head to head online play, you'll likely see the disappearing putterhead/putter shaft issue as well. There seems to be a fairly effective workaround for this with the PS3 whereby you change your putter back to what you were using in the "Equipment" screen before going to have a look at your golf bag. It seems that just restoring the putter on the equipment screen resets everything else.

Thanks again Onlooker!! You have been great with the updates. I'm ready to continue on this career mode now.

cdawg44, I know I've come off as being a negative naybob about Tiger 14 in many circles, but I do have a real passion for the game. I've seen enough potential in Tiger 14 to let me know that with the advertised fixes, it can realize its full potential and present itself in a manner that's better geared for my tastes. I follow the developments very closely regarding the patches and I'm more than delighted to pass new information along. OS forumers bring a different perspective to the discussion of such issues and I value what I read here in response to the game's developments.

My gut feeling is that the 360 patch isn't going to fix all that ails the game, but I'm pretty sure it's going to take care of the show stoppers for me, all of which are camera presentation and functionality related. It will be good to get back to playing the game again, even if it does mean I'll have to go to the equipment screen and change back to my chosen putter to restore my full club set after playing a H2H match. I see career mode cuts are still not being properly sorted, tiebreakers are still hosed, etc., but it sounds like EA is pretty sure there will be a second patch to take care of those issues as well.

Sadly, this game has turned into one of the biggest commercial beta tests of any that I've ever played. If that's what it takes to get a console golf game that will hold me over for two years, I'll grin and bear it.

Just seems crazy that the cut bug is not being dealt with on the first patch in my eyes

One can only dream, can't one?.... wait a minute, we had True-View (Aim) camera in 2011, 2012, and 2013 - those were the days. The True-Aim camera looked great in online multiplayer in Tiger 13!

The problem is, they are not able to reproduce this 100% of the time. I am into the 7th event on my PGA TOUR season mode and have yet to encounter this on the 360.....

It's every time for me that the cut is messed up... I never myself have missed the cut from this but for example it will say that the cut is plus 3 when in fact it is is plus one just that it decides to list the next score after plus one as plus 3 even though if you scroll down the leaderboard players scored plus 2. Also its very often that it lists the winner at say 7 under yet the guy in second score 8 under for example

Yep, 2mb. Got it this morning, game played well in my daily and weekly CC rounds. Will try career tonight.

BTW, no cut bug issues for me prior to this patch in Career.

I've had a lot of time with the patch this morning on the 360, and so far, it's really looking pretty good. The stationary Follow putting camera is a welcome relief and restores the perspective I need for putting. I felt like I was so much more "in the game" following my >10 foot putts from over my golfer's shoulder; I know it's an insignificant change to most gamers, but it's huuuuge for me! I'm also very pleased to not have the insta-rewind on every non-putting shot with Follow cam. It allows you a chance to gauge your shot result with greater clarity, without imposing the unnecessary delay the auto-rewind caused. These two performance changes alone make the game feel a lot more stable!

I've played 4 H2H match play games online and have not experienced one club reset. I did reboot my 360 after downloading the patch this morning, so I don't know if that *may* have helped. I'm sure this will need more time before I have any real useful data from which to make an assessment. OTOH, I do see the laggy, flashing/stuttering ball in Follow cam coverage of my opponent's shots. It's easily preferable to watching a frozen golfer, and is by no means a game breaker, but it looks a bit dodgy, compared to last year's H2H multiplayer camera coverage.

The biggest nit I can pick with the game post-patch is that when I played a 5-hole connected tournament, I was briefly not seeing my golfer on the tee initially, then after changing aim, getting a contorted golfer, but within seconds he righted himself and took a normal stance. I saw that three times on five tees and it varied in duration from 2 to 5 seconds before it corrected itself. I'm not sure if my changing aim helped speed that along a bit, but it seemed to . I'll be interested to see what others are experiencing with this.

Onlooker (or anyone with the patch), are the new camera angles on by default?

Putting camera angle is now behind/over the shoulder by default.

If you've got "Follow" Camera selected in the presentation settings, the new non-rewinding full shot camera and stationary, over the shoulder putting camera, are automatically on.

Wasn't there supposed to be a 25,000 coin freebie like PS3 users got because of the patch? That didn't kick in. Is this just a tuner update? PS3 patch is 28MB, 360 is just 2MB?

i asked this too. no one answered. either some percentage of people did not get it or no one else noticed/realized/cares that they didn't get it.

ps3 patches are always larger than their xbox counterparts though regarding patch size.
