Former Michigan Star Storms through Final Round on His Way to the Cover

The dust has settled and former University of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson has emerged as the next NCAA Football cover athlete. Robinson faced a heated battle against Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Swope in the finals, but was able emerge victorious after tallying over a quarter-million votes.

Once Robinson was announced as a potential cover athlete, the NCAA record-holder for most career rushing yards for a quarterback rushed to Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets to encourage fans to vote. Denard had a little help from his friends, getting support from former Michigan wide receiver Roy Roundtree, Heisman winner Desmond Howard and others.

Michigan proved to be a powerhouse throughout the Cover Vote, consistently placing amongst the top finishers in every round. The university utilized its classic traditions, devoted alumni and strong national recognition to secure its advancement through the early rounds, and then threw all its support behind Robinson once he was announced as a potential cover athlete.

Over the duration of the campaign the NCAA Football Cover Vote secured over 5 million votes from college football fans across the country. College football fans showed their passion throughout the competition, coming out in support of their favorite schools and athletes and making this the most successful Cover Vote in franchise history.

Fans should continue checking the NCAA Football Facebook page in the coming weeks for more information on new features, exclusive assets, the announcement of the official release date and more.

Got a feeling soon to come will be a big Marketing push concerning "Dual Threat Athletes".

They've been non-existent through out the whole series as well as "Consistent" scrambling logic by AI QB's with the designation as a "Scrambler".

Covers usually run parallel to something along the lines of some "All New" Marketing aspect they've thrown in.

Ok... What if a HB or WR won the cover? Whats your "feeling" tell you then?

And no Denard robinson should not have been on this cover. looks like reward players that get benched hurt all the time and mediocre QB play for his entire Career. Any buckeye fan giving congrats to this bum is not a true buckeye fan. Go Bucks! Denard is a bum that lost and threw 4 picks in back to back primetime games to Alabama and nD. Now he is on the cover? NCAA is becoming a joke with the cover voting. they better add the physics system and gameplay engine that madden 13 had or else there is no hope for the series. that's all NCAA needs is the physics system and madden 13 gameplay engine for NCAA 14.
While I am certainly no OSU or Michigan fan, to say that he had anything less than a great career at Mich would be an understatment. While he didnt win any championships, he sure was exciting to watch

No one should be on the cover. It should say NCAA FOOTBALL and the trophy. That's it.

It is a game cover though.. I would pay 20 bucks more for this game if it had a pile of dog **** on it if the game was actually good.

Who didn't see this coming after the voting scandal came up? It was obvious he was going to win after that. Lets just hear about the game.

Good one. Hahaha. It's funny to hear people get worked up a cover picture and I'm not even referring to this site but the NCAA football facebook page. As a Michigan fan I could care less but I'm older.

Pretty odd that almost no info has been released by EA. I'm wondering what the first piece of information to be revealed will be.

Last time they had a RB on the cover for NCAA 12 they hyped no suction blocking and no suction tackling. That your RB was able to run through tiny holes without being sucked into a tackle. Also suppose to have been gang tackles and momentum based tackles.

For NCAA 11 when Tebow was on the cover they hyped that they went to talk to Georgia Tech's legendary head coach. And that the option attack would be deadly. They hyped zone blocking, running lane logic and real assignment AI. That the AI running game was going to be deadly.

For NCAA 10 when Crabtree was on the cover they hyped all new catch animations and bobbled catches. Suppose to have been 100 new catch animations. Funny last year they hyped and said the same thing for NCAA 13.

Over all I don't care who they talk to or who they have on the cover. End of the day the only thing that matters is Game Play AI. If they don't fix that and over haul the way ratings interact with animation and AI logic triggering, then I am more then willing to just play Sim City all summer long.

But anyway I don't expect actually game play information until mid April. Usually they hype cover vote first, then hype up dynasty improvements and game play hype usually be 3rd on the list.

No way they would have let Swope on the cover over Denard with how well know the former Michigan QB is.

I know who Swope is and most of us probably do in fact, but the general population does not. More people would probably confuse him with Johnny Manziel then actually knowing him lol

Assuming the cover athlete is to portray a likeness to the actual game, would it be fair to assume EA is leading on that NCAA 2014 will be mediocre at best, feature medium length dreads, and that the injury bug will become rampant?

Scoreboard of cover athletes: Michigan 4 ohio 0.

For real people, get over it. There is a little thing called custom covers you can do.

C'mon. Denard is perfect for a video game cover. He has video game stats and is arguably the most marketable amateur athlete in the country right now. Out of all the candidates, he deserved it the most. He's a great kid on and off the field.

allenw88 made this beauty in the custom cover thread.

He's going to get an NFL paycheck. He will be able to provide for his family which is what he said his goal was since day 1 since he came from a bad neighborhood in Deerfield.

All that really matters in the big picture. He's a legend here which will last forever.

Typical ohio moron who can't interpret stats.

  • He is the only player in NCAA history to pass and rush for 1,500 yards.
  • He has the most rushing yards by a QB in NCAA history.
  • He holds records for total offense, touchdowns scored and every QB rushing record at Michigan
