Former Michigan Star Storms through Final Round on His Way to the Cover

The dust has settled and former University of Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson has emerged as the next NCAA Football cover athlete. Robinson faced a heated battle against Texas A&M wide receiver Ryan Swope in the finals, but was able emerge victorious after tallying over a quarter-million votes.

Once Robinson was announced as a potential cover athlete, the NCAA record-holder for most career rushing yards for a quarterback rushed to Twitter, Facebook and other social media outlets to encourage fans to vote. Denard had a little help from his friends, getting support from former Michigan wide receiver Roy Roundtree, Heisman winner Desmond Howard and others.

Michigan proved to be a powerhouse throughout the Cover Vote, consistently placing amongst the top finishers in every round. The university utilized its classic traditions, devoted alumni and strong national recognition to secure its advancement through the early rounds, and then threw all its support behind Robinson once he was announced as a potential cover athlete.

Over the duration of the campaign the NCAA Football Cover Vote secured over 5 million votes from college football fans across the country. College football fans showed their passion throughout the competition, coming out in support of their favorite schools and athletes and making this the most successful Cover Vote in franchise history.

Fans should continue checking the NCAA Football Facebook page in the coming weeks for more information on new features, exclusive assets, the announcement of the official release date and more.

I guess when you had Hart, Henne, and Long go 0-4, 1-3 makes Denard a legend. You must not value the rivalry very much if you are clamoring over stats other than W-L.

A whole season isn't defined by one game here. It's the most important game, but if Michigan loses The Game but wins the B1G...

Uh, oh that sucks and uh...hey look a trophy!

It's about championships, which Hart, Henne & Long all won in 2004. Denard got his in the form of a BCS Bowl win, something that wasn't done since Tom Brady was here. Pretty good company.

Denard did something that will NEVER be surpassed here. Michigan isn't ever going to have a QB with mobility like that. Especially with the pro style QBs being recruited right now. Gardner is the last clear-cut dual threat QB for quite some time.

My kids and grandkids someday will ask me if I ever saw that Denard Robinson play and boy did I ever. That and he's the most humble guy for as much of a player he was.

I look for red avatars = he sucks. Blue Avatars = he's amazing.

WVU Avatars = he didn't deserve the QB rushing record .....

Go Irish, now we can just agree ND would beat UM and OSU right?

Honestly i think Denard is the perfect choice for the cover. I can't think of one recent college player who's career better emulates the direction the NCAA football series is heading. The gameplay and atmosophere have deteriorated over the last 4 years or so, and also similar to denard, the producers of ncaa can't seem to put a complete game together. From what ive heard and seen Denard is a great guy off the field. I thought the off field aspects of this years dynasty mode were implemented and played fairly well. But like shoelaces last two seasons, once you get into the game between the white lines, there are many glaring holes and you realize much of the hype consists of a lot of flash and not much substance. Just ironic to me. Not ripping anyone just noting a few similarities regarding the new partnership. I wish denard luck in his future endeavors and hopefully next year I can post something positive about his nfl career and the video game that he graced.

Just to clear something up. He NEVER got benched. The dude had nerve damage in his arm and couldn't grip a football to throw it. He did just get shifted to WR/RB/Wildcat QB for the heck of it.

Just once I'd like to be surprised and see a defensive/offensive lineman make the cover. But that would emphasize lineplay and player interactions and we all know how awful that currently is. How out of touch do you have to be with your consumers that you think a substantial number would purchase a videogame soley based on who's on the cover? How good is your product if this is something you feel you have to rely on? I know all companies put people on their games but i dont see it hyped and dragged out like ncaa/madden. Things don't make it into the game due to budgets and/or lack of resources yet every year its the same glitzy hype machine focusing on secondary or tertiary features. GAMEPLAY. Thats all that matters. I don't mean to come across like I'm bashing ea with my last two posts but i just see so much untapped potential in this game*it gets frustrating watching time and money being wasted on the same cycle of hype year in year out. They say the first sign of insanity is to keep doing the same thing and expect different results. NCAA 13 is probably the most beautiful sports title ive ever played (aside from bamas' and msu off-colored jerseys the game is frikin gorgeous) but I'm resigned to just recruiting and building my program because I can't deal with the mess that is the gameplay. Just wish the actual hardcore loyal consumers like myself were focused on and pandered to once in awhile instead of the casual college footbal fan.

Didn't this guy like change his position like 10 times in one season?

Johnny Football deserved this one as much as I was against him.

For the millionth time on the OS boards, current college players are not eligible to take part in any kind of paid sponsorship agreement. No returning college player has or ever will be on the cover.

So since we know who is going to be on the cover when will we start hearing details on the game and start getting screenshots?
