Check out more Avatar Football screenshots, right here.

Coinciding with the start of the NFL playoffs, veteran Xbox 360 Indie developer, Barkers Crest Studio, just released Avatar Football onto the Xbox Live Marketplace.

For 240 Microsoft Points ($3), gamers get:
  • 2D gameplay inspired by Tecmo Super Bowl
  • Play as Xbox Avatars or as realistic football player models
  • 3 vs. 3 online multiplayer
  • Fully editable players, teams and playbooks
  • Create-a-play editor
  • Share edited rosters over Xbox Live
  • Offline single season mode
  • 2 vs. 2 local multiplayer
As of this post, an error on Microsoft's end is preventing the free trial version from appearing on the marketplace. Barkers Crest Studio has gotten in touch with Microsoft and is currently doing everything than can to get a downloadable trial version working.

UPDATE: Check out the Avatar Football video, captured last night from the 4th quarter, it was a crazy finish!

Whoever has full rosters can you let me know? My gamertag is tbread28. This game is a lot of fun for the price. Thanks

I'd love to snag some NFL rosters. Any way we could set up a specific time for roster sharing?

# 45 jyoung @ 03/06/13 02:31 AM
I'm available weeknights from 10 PM EST through midnight EST.

Weekends I am available all day.

Just let me know a time that's good for you and I can hop on.

Yep, I will be around then. I'll aim for 2:30 PM EST Saturday.

Very cool game. i like that it has a side view that also lets you throw the ball deep downfield. look at those passes, even the final play of the game, the QB was able to by time and zero in on the receiver deep just as he was getting off the screen. it also does a good job of forcing the offensive team to hit holes when running the ball. this arguably does this better then current gen football games. like on that 2 point conversion at the end, the player had to make a real decision of which angle to take when running to the outside and when to use the speed burst. the player controlling the defensive player had to also make a decision of where to move. those same decisions occur in real football. the fumble was, well a turn of events. the difference between winning and losing comes down to a moment like that. the TD celebrations are actually funny, looks like a fun game.

I am online now in the roster sharing lobby if anyone wants to download what I've got.

I have not worked on the roster any since the NFL playoffs ended. So as the file stands currently:

-- All teams names and city names correct
-- All uniforms correct
-- Player names and depth charts correct for all of the AFC South + Baltimore

Everyone still enjoying this? Have the devs discussed any future updates?

# 51 jyoung @ 03/18/13 01:38 AM
I haven't heard anything in the way of updates.

The play editor in this game is still my favorite feature by far. NFL Head Coach is the only other console football game this generation to have a play creator.

Did anyone do full rosters for this game?

# 53 jyoung @ 07/30/13 01:11 PM
I've got a file with all the team names, divisions and uniforms changed to NFL.

But only about 4 or 5 of the teams have fully named rosters, and even those teams are dated back to the end of last season.

Let me know if you want me to share it with you and I can hop on XBL.

Thanks, I already got those from you. I was hoping someone had updated them further. Oh well...

It's a fun little game. The girlfriends brother and I play on occasion.
