Yes. In real life players do take really quick steps in order to hit the base sometimes, but they look very funny doing it in the show and they do it at every base.
I think in general, the homer run trots in the game look bad. The players jog extremely funny to me in this game. Like balerinas. They just frolic around the bases, it does not look natural at all. Maybe it's just me.
It's not just you. It ain't just the home run trot.
Running animations in general have always looked weird. From tearing down to first base to snagging a ball on the run, it's always looked like the uncanny valley of movement. In a perfect world running animations would look a like the straight ahead sprint animation in Assassin's Creed III. Heads down at first to gain speed with the subtle side to side movement and fast leg chopping. But that part might just be me alone.
I was wondering about the White Sox stadium. (Sorry don't know the actual name). But I noticed players portraits on the outfield wall, it'd be kind of cool if it changed over time to match the current roster (including CAPs so that it would "stay fresh" for future seasons).
The game could also use some varied running animations. The hunched over thing doesn't look right (or very athletic for that matter).
Something else about cyberfaces in the player portrait I'm wondering....
Does this mean that guys who start off with free agent caps(cause they weren't signed to any team by a specific date) won't have their real life face in the game at all in their player portrait?

I'd guess that "Free Agent" counts as a team and works the same as any other team... if they even have a photo for that player who is currently a free agent (eg: Chris Young [the pitcher]), then the live pic would probably show until the player was signed somewhere.
That's just a guess though...
Anyway I also want to point out that this is probably updatable via roster updates, or at least patchable. So just because they don't have the right pic now doesn't mean we're doomed for life.
And it's still way better than the old system, either way.
nike swoosh on ryan braun's undershirt, catcher wearing adidas cleats, george steinbrenner plaque at yankee stadium, dodger player wearing different type of cleats, ryan braun looks more accurate, team bases, newer helmets, player on pirates looks to have actual oakleys
