NBA 2K13 News Post

Delivering year after year on expected greatness is no easy feat, but even harder is daring to gain new ground without losing the blueprint that originally paved a successful path. This year’s iteration of NBA2K certainly looks to dazzle, but also features one of the biggest gameplay changes arguably since the franchise’s inception.

With a two-pronged attacked aimed to both satisfy basketball gaming enthusiasts and also increase pure entertainment value, 2K Sports seeks not only to produce another great hoops title, but to also engrain the franchise deeper in today’s pop culture.

Does NBA2K13 accomplish this full on takeover?

I agree. No way is this game a 9.5! lol. Id give it an 8.5. A game with defense this bad cant be a 9.5. Passing isn't the best either

This game has so many problems its mindblowing how you rate it a 9.5 smh from Sluggish defenders to the lack of realism in regards to CPU shot making and the fact they pretty much sold us the same game with a dribble stick was the last straw for me. I'm not paying $65 bucks for roster updates anymore, this is officially my last 2k purchase

Agreed, how can people play a basketball game where you can't even block a dunk or layup, and still give it a score of 9.5?

# 48 Dazraz @ 10/10/12 05:06 AM
Totally agree. 9.5 is spot on. This for me is the best sports game I've ever played & I've been playing sport games video games since I was 7 (1982). 2K Sports can stand proud at what they've achieved here. A developer that has made some bad decisions & have literally shrunk to a one sport production team have returned once more to set the benchmark of just what is possible with a sports simulation. 2K have shown what can be done & hopefully in time & with the coming of a new generation of hardware the standard of game depicted in NBA 2K13 will be seen across the whole spectrum of sports simulations.

Can't say i'm too surprised though. OS is known for being pretty bias for 2k. We need reviewrs that actually talk about things that are seriously wrong with the game(like VC points, autosave, my player ai, rebounding, etc.)

But a former staff writer was hired at ea? I am only pointing that out to say that what company you think the site favors is based quite a bit off of your own opinion.

Btw, how have 2ks baseball reviews gone here? Or are you talking about people praising three of the best sports games ever made in nfl 2k5, college hoops 2k8, and NBA 2k11. A classic every three years in a genre will earn praise from a website based on that type of game. Shocking, I know

Horrible review, this sounds like relaying press releases of 2k and calling it a review, no analysis of how well the new VC system works, not mention of the many many glitches that are back. And when does 2K start to get heat for their atrocious menus, and settings that don't save properly.

The Game play is much improved over 2k12, even with the glitches, the presentation took a big step backwards. They really made it look like a TV broadcast last year, this year it feels like Jay-Z presents Basketball not even NBA..

# 52 achieveduser @ 10/10/12 10:25 AM
I give this review one star rating. The horrible implementation of VC wasn't pointed out. If you played other recent sport games with their ultimate team implementation, you should see how 2K is shoving VC concept down people's throat with their approach. I'm not completely against company making money off this. But VC should only be within MyTeam mode. That's where it belongs.

lol @some people not wanting to give the game it's due. While I do think the review itself lacked the depth/detail I expected, the reason I expected more is because the game has a ridiculous amount of content. For everyone chiding the review and the game for the few things 2K may have gotten wrong, there's an overwhelming amount that 2K got right. But in typical OS fashion you have the vocal minority focusing more on the 5 questions missed on a test instead of the 95 you get right. People can fault the review for not touching on some of the game's flaws, but the review also didn't touch on or spent little time on some of it's major accomplishments (like Signature Skills).

I think people also need to realize in a genre where there's open competition, this game has done THE unthinkable and made it's competition tap out not once, not twice... three times by my count. It was unthinkable back when it happened with 2K11 - it's practically unfathomable two years later. If some of you want to continue hating, knock yourselves out. Won't change this is the greatest sports game release this generation (imo)

9.5 may be a tiny bit of a stretch, but the game is awesome and I really don't see how anyone can say it isn't by far the best NBA game ever, possibly best sports game ever. I haven't delved enough into all the modes and features to have personally witnessed some of the things people are complaining about, but when a game has this much content to offer, I think you can throw them a bone if every feature isn't 100% perfect. To me, the game on the court is heads and shoulders above its predecessors, and that's what is most important in my opinion. I don't see myself getting bored with this in 2 months like last year.

Yep....9.5 sounds about right...Have thoroughly enjoyed this years version..Online has been Good to go...offline Training Camps a blast//being about to skip around...The presentation is so immersive..

Greatist Basketball game ever made.. If 2k does not win the award for best sports game of the year...

heads are gonna roll (LOOL)

# 57 raiderphantom @ 10/10/12 02:23 PM
2k really botched some things like these cartoony awful looking faces, autosave, overly fast paced games, and especially vc, but this still might be the best SPORTS game I've ever played, at least so far. Wàiting for the full roster update to really get into association.

I should of said nba 2k. I meant bias for nba 2k. I've been a 2k game for years, but people will often times just try to brush over any flaws or problems with the games on here because "it's NBA 2k guyz they're teh best EVAR". I actually like nba 2k13, but i don't like reviews that exaggerate it and make it sound like it's flawless. And while 2k11 was good, it was EXTREMELY overrated(this is what i'm talking about), it had a lot of problems. I honestly thought that for their time, 2k8 and 2k5 were better. I'm just noting that OS has been known to be bias for nba 2k. The review isn't thorough enough about everything in the game IMO.

.....And its posts like these that I take issue with

If OS isnt singing rain clouds and gum drops for EA and collecting checks, then its a 2k.com extension site

You guys kill me with this kind of nonsense. Its one writer who gave his opinion of what is considered by MOST if not ALL a very good basketball game, and probably the best in the series gameplay wise, flaws and all... and you label an entire site 2k people?

... you're quite the labeler

Wait what? Isn't labeling someone a labeler kind of, ironic?

Relax, i merely stated that their is some bias for nba 2k. How is that a big deal, or bad? And i never said anything about EA. I think you're overreacting. Seriously, it's not that big of a deal man.
