MLB 13 The Show News Post

According to Steve Lyons, he will be replacing Dave Campbell in MLB 13 The Show. Yes, the same guy from the All-Star Baseball series.

Purely speculative on my part, but next years game perhaps being the last on the ps3,before the ps4 (or whatever they're going to call it) arrives,I wouldn't expect big changes in this coming years commentary. Hopefully in the new consoles we can get multiple announcers via the old pc classic from the 90's, Old Time Baseball.

Too bad it isn't Keith Hernandez, Ron Darling and Gary Cohen. They have been one of the few enjoyable things about watching a Mets game.

Interesting to see if Lyons gives Karros any references to 03 when at Wrigley... Love the change.

So what does this do? Exchange one line of commentary for another? The same people who are cheering this on are going to be the same people next year clamoring for new commentary.

I have to say I think this is a step in the right direction. But for me it really only is if they re-do the commentary not just replace Campbell with Lyons and we are hearing the same lines.

Just a gut feeling but I think that they wouldn't be doing this if they weren't revamping the lines all together.

Don't get me wrong he is good but I think Matt has a lot more to offer in the game.

I'm with ya, Nem!

I wanna hear this type of emotion from Matty:

But they already replaced Hudler with Karros and didn't revamp anything when they did that.

Actually they did, after the first year Karros was on board. Karros probably has the most banter out of the 3 current voices.

I would be more excited if they were announcing new commentary that seamlessy flowed together like it was an actual broadcast.

Good. I like him as a person, but MLB The Show needs a complete overhaul in commentary!

Give me Jon "Boog" Sciambi & Chris Singleton Isn't Thom Brennaman Lyon's booth partner?

I don't think replacing Matt would be the answer. Just make his current lines, new ones flow well with the other commentators and I'd be happy. My friend who is in a college radio program says that worst thing for a broadcast is dead air; I think most of us would agree that there is too much dead air in the current product.

More lines. Flow together. No dead air.

# 34 Mabster @ 10/10/12 10:53 PM
For visual media dead air isn't as big of an issue as it is on radio. You never want dead air on radio but letting the action on the field speak for itself on tv is perfectly fine.

I don't need constant banter when I'm watching baseball nor while playing the show. I do want the commentary to flow and fill time between plays/batters. I don't want the commentators going on some long soliloquy just to fill air time.

This is probably a step by step process and THANK GOD they are getting rid of the old man no offense. His delivery was just awful in this game.

They also need to seriously track down special comments that are repeated GAME AFTER GAME AFTER GAME.

The Fielder and his Daddy comment has got to be the worst in the entire game and just needs to go.

I think Sciambi and Singleton are the best MLB announce team on ESPN.

I guess Deuces won't be Wild anymore ...

Glad to see the announce team changed up.

Knight, I played ASB '05 about a month ago. Very underrated game. Anyone else prefer the "new" Mets stadium in that game to Citi Field? They had some cool ideas for new stadiums.

It would be great if the show had them. Most of the time I listen to the away team announcers when watching Cards games because I don't care for their announcers, and the Met's announce team in my opinion is the best in baseball.

Not going to lie, but, Campbell should be forever remembered as "The Voice of MLB The Show," He always seemed to be my favorite for unexplainable reasons. Matt's great, too, but IMO Dave was better.

I look forward to hearing Lyons tell us how a HR can be a rally killer.
