Madden NFL 13 title update #2 arrives tomorrow, which includes a new instant start option when creating a player in CCM. The team has also fixed numerous stability issues and GameFace improvements.

While the team hasn't added the ability to edit players in CCM, they still haven't shot down the idea completely, in hopes to have it available in a future patch.

More details below.

I get that and can live with it.

What I don't understand is why the old franchise mode wasn't just left in like they did with NHL?

How could something like no fantasy draft, or no editing of uniform numbers even (not even getting to ratings!) be removed without realizing this gets you multiple players with the same number on the field?

Well, at least there's "game face," an invaluable feature for a game played from behind the player with a helmet and visor covering the face.

I'm glad to see they are looking into adding some form of editing for us. Since they didn't mention couch co-op I think it's safe to say we won't see it until M14 at the earliest.
Whilst I'm happy that they're addressing (potentially) some of the removed features, from a selfish perspective I'm really upset not to see mention of co-op CCM.

This most basic of core gameplay modes, which exists in every other team-based sports title made over the last 15+ years, should definitely be included, and the fact that we're waiting to receive patch info about this is really poor.

Will there be a full listing of what was addressed in this patch when it is released tomorrow?

I may be trading one headache (Madden) for another (NHL) if some of the things in Offline CCM aren't corrected and the CPU playcalling isn't addressed.

But their are definitely many things I don't like about 13.

If this CCM gets significant refinements and enhancements going into 14, even I can see 14 being much better than 12. If you care to take this to PM's, I can give you what I don't like about 13. I don't want to do it here cause tt really doesn't belong in this thread.
I've went out and bought 12 again for the franchise. The truest thing I ever read from these boards is when someone from EA slipped up and called this a "reboot" year. Of course, that wasn't said before they got the money.

It should be listed tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I would expect those issues to be address a few weeks after launch.

We'll see.

As appreciated as the time you take to check here and post is, the developers have to get that, regardless of surface improvements such as presentation, the present game is not yet superior to Madden 12.

When you have a problem like the computer struggling to this level in the run game, from a football basics standpoint the game is a failure. An NFL offense can run the ball or pass it. A current CCM - this year's big new feature -Madden offense can do only half of that. The computer consistently rushing for 20 attempts for 40 yards, for example, or the Packers running the ball 40 times and throwing 10 - both documented problems - kill the game. When that much strategy is removed, without the ability to fix it via currently ineffective sliders, what's the point?

I agree that a fix in the first patch would be unrealistic, but a fix this year isn't. This problem is so blatantly obvious yet apparently never noticed and at least thus far left unaddressed. IMO, that's the most frustrating point.

Oh man, at the very least I hope the Offline CCM is fixed with the XP points, depth charts, auto subs, etc. I really don't want to have to play Online CCM and be subjected to playing on the EA servers.

Maybe one of these days I'll wise up and wait until the patches are out before I buy these games. It's getting ridiculous that I buy these games at launch and then wind up having to wait 3-4 months before the game is fully operational. By that time, I've grown tired of the bugs/issues, and have moved on.

I try not to overly dissect these games and enjoy them for what they are but at the same time, when core issues are shipped out with the game and then not addressed in the first patch, I have to wonder what exactly is going on? If this stuff is being caught by members of this site within 48 hours of release, why isn't it being caught during testing?

Madden 13 can be a fun game and I see the potential, but I'd be lying if I wasn't very frustrated with the number of issues the game currently has.

They overhauled the entire game, how would you not know it was a reboot year? Of course not all features will make it in year one. SMFH

This x 1000. People were MAD when 12 released with no improvements to franchise.

While I prefer CCM to Franchise Mode, that is factually incorrect:

Expanded Rosters
UDFAs
Cut Days
Free Agency Bidding
New Scouting System

Now I'm not saying that these things were perfect, but Madden 12 did attempt to make changes to Franchise. People complained about those changes just like they're complaining about these.

Finally. The rosters I have been waiting for. Finally, I can start my Connected Career.

Understandably mad. But this is a whole new level of mad. They took out stuff that we used in the game.

In Madden 12, it was just the same old bug and glitch complaints ie., robo qb still in effect, assisted tackles still after a few years of complaints, not adding up, play action was broken, etc.

It's like taking a chocolate cake away from a fat kid and giving him a carrot. You just don't do that. You got to work your way to that carrot.

EA is grabbing on a bunch of tiger's tails thinking they're not going to strike back.

Easy:

I know it's a roster / rating issue, but how about rating the FA's properly so in CCM McNabb doesn't end up starting for either the Browns or Seahawks?

Normal:

Have the CPU run / pass ratios reflect the current NFL (may as well clean up that sim stat engine, while you're at it)

Hard:

Smarter playcalling by CPU, esp. with regard to down / distance / time remaining

Thanks for participating, it's really encouraging to see you guys pop in...

Regards!

EDIT: It just occurred to me that I could have fixed the first 2 of 3 myself if player editing and 32 team control still existed...

Which is EXACTLY what I've done EVERY YEAR for the past decade or so...

Yikes!

That is why I bought it for 44.99 on Toys r Us online. I knew from the past what the future would be.

So I am waiting and by patch 2 (October) things should be ready to go offline. In the meantime I canceled my NHL pre-order. Lack of penalties is unacceptable. I will again stick with the great NHL 11.

DJ...just fool around with play now games, poke around CCM to get familar with all the features and menus....then before you know it the game will function properly.

Dive deep into NCAA 13 and The Show 12 till then!

Madden 13 is a great game under the hood and just needs some TLC with a couple of strong patches. Play now is a ton of fun.

I was initially appalled that the game shipped in this state for offline gamers. I have calmed down......played the game in play now mode and have really come to enjoy the heck out of it.

If EA does not come through on the patches......they will lose me as a client....for a long time.

I have been wondering about this myself. How the hell are we supposed to ever get a true sim game when you have known tourney guys giving input into the game?

I buy a game in August and have to wait 3 months to enjoy it

Just to Help you out Tiburon!

Number of stars indicates Level of Importance!

CPU AI & RUN GAME***********

Player Edits***********

WORKING SLIDERS*********

Assisted Tackles*****

GAMEFACE

Like someone else said, I find it extremely hard to believe that they werent aware of the flaws in the game before release! In that case they should have fixes already lined up for the first patch, not whats been told to us today! :

In fact I pray it is the above! Because if Tiburon programmers/game testers arent able to detect flaws in their own game we will never, i repeat,NEVER, get the game we want and deserve from EA.

I dont hate Madden I Have M13 and I like it to an extent but some of things that Tiburon does leaves me scratching my head
