Melo's capable of being a 90, but as a real player he doesn't actually play hard or smart enough to justify a 90.
This is a game though so it is tough to say he doesn't try so he shouldn't be high.

Not so much caught up in AI overall rating as long as it plays like him. I hope he has a layup pack. Can't wait to to play with 01 Sixer's

While I agree with the first part of your comment the second part I must take issue with sir. In order to be rated a mid to high 90's a player must possess other skills rated highly in defense and rebounding etc.

Being rated only high in offense would not lead to a mid to high 90s rating. Case in point: AI was the only player in NBA history to lead the league in steals in for three straight seasons (2000-01 through 2002-03) .

To your point about AI being selfish. He was really the only good offensive option. For example playing with the sixers would you get t-time, lynch, mckie, e snow, and mt. mutombo over 10 shots a game?

They weren't offensive threats. I'm sure AI saw that the same way.

A.I. always was and always will be my favorite player. I hope you can use him in CAL. Finally get him that ring he never got.

Yes, except that Durant is the second best PLAYER in the league, while Melo is a dominant scorer. Due to Durant's freakish length, he does more things better than Melo and is a match-up nightmare in ways that Melo cannot be. 95 seems fitting for Durant. A 90 seems more fitting for Melo; still dominant offensively, but not quite a Superstar that can take his team to the Finals.

92-99 overall ratings should be reserved for the handful of real superstars, the best of the best (James, Durant, Kobe, Wade, Howard, and probably CP3 (and Rose when he's 100%). Melo's that next tier of star with DWill, Rondo, Westbrook, Love, etc etc that should really be in the 87-90/91 range. In my opinion

I would also like to see Monte and Iggy closer to 85, but Melo's rating is the ONE rating that seems most inflated.

Relax man, most people here know overall is meaningless. Even so, some of us just enjoy talking **** over it. People like me are bored at work so I have nothing better to do lol. And at the end of the day it boosts Steve's ad revenue, so as long as nobody gets out of hand, it's a win win for everybody.

I mean ... the rating will justify itself if you go back and watch tape.
I had to fix that for you. When I think of great finishers in traffic, I think Jordan, LeBron, Wilkens, etc. AI was not on that level IMO. Compared to other 6'1 players, I'm with you.

And AI missed mad games.

Regarding the FG attempts, many great, selfish scorers shot much better from the field though. The only other player I can think of that scored that much and shot that bad was Pierce, but he was only that bad for a few years.

I dig AI. But 95 is too high. That's 4 overall points less than Jordan. That's 3 overall points less than LeBron. Are we giving AI more credit because of his size? Shot difficulty?

# 95 Colts18 @ 08/30/12 05:02 PM
Just to be clear, In 2000-2001 Allen Iverson missed 11 games out of 82.
That should give him a decent duraility rating. But I know 2K doesn't base their durability on actual % of games missed due to injury. They just kind of eyeball it.

# 96 shindiana @ 08/30/12 11:43 PM
And this is supposed to be news worthy?
Companies like 2k are really using anything to make us talk about their games...

# 97 shindiana @ 08/30/12 11:44 PM
I mean who knew 2k would try to make headlines by revealing Jared Dudley's rating, lmfao
