The team AI and player ID really shines in this demo.

I love that every game has a different feel and flow to it. I love the stand out players are stand out whether they are on your squad or against. I love average players noticeably lack the arsenal of the better players - it really makes you pay attention to who has the ball and where the defense is. I love the fact that long passes just don't glide in and stick to your players foot. I love the back and forth midfield battle. I love seeing rallies up by the goal. I love the defensive moves and the risk of taking a lunge coupled with the individual player ID it really makes you pay attention to who you can try to trample over and who you need to give space. I love seeing an AI team work together and getting burned by a well setup shot from the opposing AI.

Also, I have had a straight red card and several yellows. The red was on a blatant tackle from behind that came a second after he released a pass. So far I am liking what I see with all the fouls and cards. I like that you can almost tell when you are getting a carded because you know what you did.

I really like the demo. I was thinking a lot about this game, Madden and FIFA as I am on still a little on the fence as to which one I get. One thing that I don't like about PES is how dated all the menus looks. Then I got to thinking of how many times I have cried in the Madden forums about wishing EA would just focus on the gameplay for once and not waste time with all the glitz and glamour. How I would take the same recycled Madden features and UI if they would just make the game play more realistic. Well, I think the PES team did this so I feel like I would be a hypocrite for not picking it up because the menu looks like something from the 90s.

My other concern is online. I am not sure what the PES 360 player pool for North America looks like. I know it is always easy to find a pick up game in Madden and FIFA...but then again, I cannot stand the way the average Madden and FIFA players play - abusing the broken game mechanics for all its are worth and playing nothing that resembles a real life game.

any ways, can't wait to try the PS3 demo tonight when I get home from work.. I enjoyed demo1 a lot and like it better than my FIFA 12... I'm just expecting a slight improvement from demo 1 hopefully..
That's what a I noticed what a slight improvement especially in the movements. I noticed new first touch animations and the dribbling is slightly smoother. I noticed it immediately because I played the first demo ALOT someone who hasn't might not notice much of a difference.

Other than that I haven't noticed anything jarring from the Goalkeepers. although I do notice sometimes the goalkeeper will choose an out of place animation to stop a shot only to have the ball go past them but that was in demo 1 as well. They aren't perfect but I feel that they do what you expect besides a few blunders that some GK's make but overall I like the improvement over them and they don't spill many shots.

This.

I love how realistic the game feels. It's as if you are playing against humans - either as an opponent or as the actual team members. I bumped it up to "Professional" last night and I had the most thrilling experience. I was Real Madrid against our hated rival Barca; I had so much fun. The teams played like their real life counterparts. I was panicking the whole game as I tried to keep my composure. Barca almost scored during one visit into the box because we were in thorough confusion, and the ball was going everywhere but into the net during what seemed like 5 shots in a row. Thankfully we escaped that. Then I scored on a awesome set up. I drove the ball in deep and the defense started to collapse around me at the top of the box at one corner. Somehow they left open another player who was at the other side of the box coming down the line. I passed it to him and he kicked it in for a goal. Despite a furious surge at the end by Barca, I won the game.

I am loving it.

The only thing that I will say critical is that they desperately need better graphics, overlays, animations, menus, etc.... They need to make it look like a top notch TV presentation. Madden, this year thus far, takes the crown regarding presentation that simulates the best broadcast for a particular sport. FIFA's menus and graphical overlays are also stellar. It's as if the graphical packages are there to combat your love for the game.

The game that PES plays is beautiful, the graphics are not.

That being said, I can't wait until the full game comes out. Unless FIFA finds true soccer between now and the time this releases, I am getting this far and away over FIFA.

Next, I plan to try the skill challenges to see what their talking about.

Some faces are hit or miss but if you are a PC player this is almost a non issue, overall I really like the graphics of PES and the gameplay is just on a another level for me.

I just played a game Real Madird (me) bs. Juventus (cpu) and lost 1-2. Something PES always does well is the cpu changing tactics according to the situations during the game. Juventus changed from a 3-5-2 to a 5-3-2 after going 1 goal up in the 70th minute.

I didn't realize it until I noticed how packed the goal box was when I wanted to take a shot. And even late in the game Juventus actually played keep away, this is something that was has fluctuated in and out of the PES series over the past few years but I actually noticed the CPU blatantly doing it. I was only able to muster a goal late in the game by a back pass mistake that fell in right in front of Ronaldo.
Yes I love the way each team plays and the tactics as well, in FIFA the CPU always plays the same no matter what team, what point in the match, how you are playing, the score etc. and that's to just aimlessly dribble about, making safe passes every time, keeping the ball away at all costs and just frustrating the hell out of you. I agree, In PES it's much more realistic and each team feels more unique.

As for the player models, you are right about the fact that you can notice the difference in player physiques easier but I think that in PES they look a little stiff and at times the movement is as well, the kits also look like they are stuck on rather than being worn. It's not terribley important though, just a minor gripe.

In the space of a few days I've gone from being a FIFA fanboy to a PES lover

The things that you guys pointed out is why PES stands above Fifa again. It has not really been that way the past few years but they have finally gotten back to the good old days this year IMO.

Playing as Barca vs. Real was a wide open game with chances at both ends and you could feel the skill on both teams. Playing as Sevilla vs. Athletic Club not so much It was dull midfield battle with very few chances. I agree that teams seem to play as themselves as well which makes it great. I really don't have many complaints at this point. I am still going to try the Fifa demo but they have a lot to do for me to get both games again this year. PES has finally gotten back on track for me.

How do you change the difficulty? I love the way this game plays but on the default setting I feel it's too easy.

Demo seems very different from last year's game. Player movement is a lot more fluid. Still getting my head around the deft touch controls, and all the other new stuff. Kinda tough to get a feel for things with such short games. As soon as you get into a flow, the whistle blows.

All the problems I have so far are purely cosmetic, one other thing I don't like is how quiet the crowd is. You can barely hear them even when a goal is scored. Like everything else I've mentioned, it's pretty minor.

I'm actually getting to the point where I prefer's PES's graphics. Even the player faces. I recommend reducing brightness in the menu. FIFA hides their dodgy graphics rather well be muting the brightness and the overall colors on closeups by default.

You can always add custom chants on the PS3 and PC and this makes the atmosphere awesome!

Can you add crowd chants with the Xbox 360 option files?

I thought the crowd is noticeably better in Demo #2. I've heard a lot of cheers on tackles, clearances, and a few other events.

Like everybody else I have noticed the game plays even better in this second demo which is saying alot since the first demo already had me hooked. I am assuming PES lets you set up tournys like the World Cup games? Nothing official but 32 or 16 team tourny with stat tracking where I can play as all the teams?
You can fully replicate it, well except for the unique atmosphere, but you can play as all 32 teams (PES has 150 national teams) and even have the proper world cup logo which most option file makers will include the future Brasil World Cup logo.

Unless it's different than PES 12, there isn't an option to import specific custom chant files into the game on Xbox. There are generic chants that you can activate by going to team edit and "support," and then specifying nationality.

The only workaround for custom chants is to put them on a mp3 player, plug it into the Xbox and play it on shuffle during the game. If you search around the web you can find people who have put tons of chants together for entire leagues in zip files. They even put in 1-2 minute silent clips so the chants cycle in and out realistically. I usually press play a couple of minutes in, and then press stop if it's a close game in the last 10 minutes. Works well for me.

Naughty Badstuber, lol. I like how you can get carded for standing tackles. I still wish you could get carded for persistent fouling with one player.

This game is great. I had finally managed to give myself a little break from the first demo, only to be sucked right back into PES with this one. I'm so glad that they didn't change anything for the worse. I just fired up a couple of matches with Corinthians and Barcelona and the difference in skill between the teams was very apparent. I enjoyed using both squads, but Messi was amazing lol.

I love this time of year. I'm going to be very content as far as games go. I can already tell that I'm going to be playing Madden a lot online. Then PES comes out, which I was sold on from the first demo and offers a great single player experience. Then NBA 2K13 looks like they're pulling out all the stops this year. All 3 games will be in heavy rotation.

I'll try Fifa through season ticket, but I'm not sure how much time I could really invest in it. It's really going to have to impress for me to consider two soccer games. A lot of my friends will have it though, so I'm sure they'll be urging me to pick it up. We shall see.

Anyway, back to the demo for a little while before I head to bed.

This training thing in the demo is frustrating as hell.
