coldplay? Not surprising that this is 2ks "biggest" announcement....you guys gotta realize in there eyes this is huge but for us its either a return of a college game or football.

So the next time they announce something huge and it will happen don't get hyped about it because you will be sorely disappointed ...

OSers made the hype massive by speculating that it was everything from the return of NFL 2k to some type of College Hoops integration. We ran with it and now are disappointed because its something less than we expected. Thats not 2ks fault. This is a big announcement but just not what most wanted.
Right...folks amped themselves up can't blame 2k for that

*2k meeting* Producer: Alright guys, we need to come up with a big announcement. Something that'll really incite the fans. 2k employee: Hmmmmm... presentation upgrades? Producer: No... 2k employee: Some new gameplay features? Producer: Nope. 2k employee: I have an idea... a soundtrack? Producer: *SLAMS HANDS ON TABLE* BRILLIANT! CALL JAY-Z!

While I'm personally not upset and very pleased it would seem reasonable to outline the extent of this soon rather than later if possible especially after the long wait and "hype" that people are talking about.

I have a feeling that as soon as we heard that Jay-Z was executive producing the game, guys started getting ready to be outraged at the announcement and then unloaded into this thread all at once.

All fans need are gameplay videos and designer diaries and suddenly there will be hope again in the land of OS, I guarantee it my worried posters.

So the soundtrack consists of Jay-Z, Kanye West and some fillers? Come on 2K

# 48 jersez @ 07/31/12 09:47 PM
Me personally I didn't think it was something ridicules like college hoops or football. It's a soundtrack, will likely be turned off or replaced by personally music. Me personally I just turn the game down and blast my music, when I play 2k. I know you can't go into detail but why even announce it, if you can't fully explain the thing that was announced?

I've grown up on jay-z and I can listen to any of his songs and I'm still not hyped. I can only imagine how someone that doesn't like rap feels about this. SMH

This is pretty disappointing, and not something I expected from the likes of 2K and their NBA team.

Pretty poor show boys, regardless of what comes after.

Damn that's a great selection, the winner is Hov! lol.

And smdh at everybody bitching & crying, no that's not the big announcement, MJ is gonna announce the big news. This is why we can never have good things, that soundtrack sounds like the best since Live 03/04.

I only half agree here

I think they really shouldn't go on with the announcement stuff like this man come on... when its info time and you put that out there its done intentionally

On the other hand these dudes make this type of disappointment even bigger by carrying on for days and days when its not even that serious

I mean I wasn't going bananas over this either way, but Jay Z and sound tracks nobody would expect to consider that the biggest news ever and throwing MJs name in there along with it

Jersez is dead on. That .gif is hilarious but true when used in this context. What a joke by 2K. If I recall correctly, Steve or another Sr. writer on this site said that when games boast about their soundtrack, they usually review very poorly. This was in response to MLB 2K's soundtrack being hyped as a feature. Same company, coincidence?

LOL. 70-80% of NBA2k's soundtracks have always been rap/hip-hop. The same as this year.

Bottom line is the game is 7 weeks away and there will be plenty of videos, blog posts and screenshots for people. Today wasnt a day for OSers...its was for the casual fan.

That's what I've been saying!!!! Physics, foot planting are the only things worthy of an announcement. I hate using this but "more of the same" is starting to come true. smh

That definitely needs to be kept in mind in the forefront

They didnt carry on for "days and days". Ronnie 2k is their marketing guy. He's paid to hype up announcements. He's always extra excited about every 2k game even **** like MLB2k. Why? Because he's paid to do that.

I will reserve my judgement for the actual features of the game.

Great more stay tuned for more announcements. Let me guess, at the all-star game you have a guitar hero mode where you can play 99 lives and make Jay Z rap for the halftime show.

LOL! I can see it now "NBA2K13....NOW WITH FOOTPLANTING!" Yep, that will get NBA 2k13 trending on Twitter way more than a partnership with one of the biggest musicians in the world.

Who would have thought Jay Z was a "1901" fan?

Wish Meek's song wasn't the instrumental version, although the beat is sick.
