NCAA Football 13 News Post

I might be biased because I live in a Big Ten city, but I haven’t been to a professional sporting event that reached the intensity level of big-time college football. A common criticism of the NCAA series has been the inability of these games to recapture that vitality. But with improved sound and extra presentation elements, it looks like NCAA 13 will get closer than ever. It remains to be seen whether EA’s move toward replicating the TV broadcast experience will be a success. But based on what we’ve seen in the demo, the NCAA atmosphere remains intact, and I’ll take that atmosphere over Madden’s any day of the week.

Is the NCAA Football atmosphere a drawing point for you at all?

Since when is Norman, OK a Big Ten City?

This is the main reason I enjoy NCAA, even though I root for the Broncos more than any other team. The college atmosphere and intense rivalries make this game great.

i know from the demo that they have crowd reaction better than the recent past, but hopefully they get the volume turned Up a bit this season.

Turn up the crowd noise slider. It's probably at 50 in the demo. I turn it up to 100 every year, crowd usually sounds good.

Is there crowd noise in Madden? Other than the year when you could make a fan yourself, I think Madden completely ignores the crowd. It would be nice if NCAA brought back the dynamic noise they had a few years back

Haha BoMcCready wrote this, for some reason it's not showing up. Trying to figure out what's going on. Or maybe I just know something about college ralignment that'll shock the world? (Not likely)

I believe it is always better than Madden, because I am a college football fan. That being said, as hard as they try, they will never come close to replicating game day in reality...

It's probably at the default setting, and if it's the same as it was in NCAA '12 then the demo has the crowd noise set to 90.

We'll see when the game comes out, but one of the selling points this year was working with the FIFA audio team and you can hear better swells in the demo but the volume of the crowd is too muted especially when the home team is on defense.

Definitely better than Madden....and in my opinion college football is a lot more exciting to watch than the pros every week. They'll never be able to replicate game day in reality, but there are a lot areas where they could improve and they have yet to do so.

This is a major reason why I love college football more than the NFL, in video games and real life. There is nothing like the intensity of a college gameday where every game means everything.

This thread quickly turned into reasons why the NCAA is better than the NFL not reasons why NCAA13 will be better than Madden13.

I'm not even a huge fan of Madden but louder crowds and improved atmosphere (read: USC's cheerleaders) does very little to bridge the gap between this game and Madden (or college football in general).

yeah, im sorry, but barring a complete turd of a game from madden, I think madden will kick the living crap out of NCAA this year (and future years, actually). and this is from a guy who loves college football.

besided, the atmosphere in ncaa 12 and ncaa 13 demo was very ho hum. was not impressed at all. bring back the 2005 home field advantage thing for crying out loud. at least that kinda made a difference.

For those that say the crowd noise isn't an issue in this game, like the gentleman on page 1 with the Boston avatar, I think you have never been to a big-time college football game.

The crowd noise in the game needs a lot of work. I felt on the PS2, in the days of the momentum meter, where the stadium would shake and whatnot, that was a step in the right direction, but the crowd on this generaton has been dead. I always max out crowd noise still find myself wishing there was more life in the crowd. There are lot of little nuances from college football games as far as crowd interactions that are missing in the game.

Maybe It's different where I'm from but I have more fun at Saints games than LSU. Saints games are equally as rowdy, minus 20k people. The fans are equally as drunk and obnoxious at either stadium. Tailgating is better on the college side, LSU fans go nuts with the food. But I'm a Saints fan so I find it easier to join the insanity and scream and chant and cheer when I'm normally quite introverted. I guess it's all a matter of which team you actually care about more.

I'm still baffled as to why NCAA and Madden say they've improved crowd noise every single year, when it's actually been the exact same since around 2004. Am I the only one that hears the exact same high-pitched lady yelling every 10 seconds or so, in every Madden and NCAA game for 8 years? It's the same "track"

But at least NCAA got rid of that awful PA announcer that Madden still uses

Amen to that. Nothing can replicate the band striking up the fight song and marching down the field in pregame or in Auburn's case the flight of the eagle or the anticipation waiting for the team to take the field then the eruption when they do. Nothing like a college football gameday on campus...nothing.

It's not so much what happened to Kansas since then as it is what happened to Kansa that year. Outside of that particular year, I don't remember Kansas ever being relevant in football.

Exactly.

That said, the EA Development team said they worked on this aspect and are "very happy" with the result.

NFL really can't compete, although the few times the Cardinals (I'm a Phoenician) have been good have been really exciting. The atmosphere at ASU games is so much more exciting than the atmosphere at pro games and that despite the fact ASU hasn't been that good for awhile and it's atmosphere hasn't competed with so many other places in college football. It's hard to describe but fans of collegel football know what I'm talking about. I love both NFL and college but atmosphere, NFL doesn't even come close.
