Madden NFL 13 News Post

Check out some of the new Madden NFL 13 screenshots, right here.

During the Madden NFL 13 webcast, EA Sports listed the player and coaching legends. Many of them will be available to use right away, others will be available via pre-order and Madden Ultimate Team (Joe Montana was confirmed as one of them from MUT).

The Canton team, which includes 27 all-time greats will be available in Play Now. You can also play as 1 of 33 legends in Connected Careers, as you try to compare your career against Hall of Famers.

Also mentioned, the Super Bowl will feature a new pre-game coin toss and Vince Lombardi Trophy presentation with legends bringing the trophy out to the players. Legend quarterbacks will have their own throwing motion and legend coaches will have their own playbooks.

If your player retires and meets the qualifications to become a Hall of Famer, you don't have to wait 5 years, it happens right after retirement (not realistic, they wanted to make it "Fun"). Speaking of retirement, players can come back into the NFL after they have retired. Will we see Brett Favre make a return?

Wow no Bills players from the early 90's???? I can name a few that should be on that list. Jim Kelly, Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Steve Tasker, Andre Reed...etc. Now before anyone says they never won a super bowl, they still had to win the AFC championship 4 years in a row. Today with free agency thats very unlikely to happen again to any team.

So I have to pre-order from Best Buy to get Walsh and Rice?

L-A-M-E.

Amazing that not a single player or coach from the only undefeated team is not in the game. No Don Shula, Bob Griese, Larry Csonka.

Man wins four SB and Bradshaw's not in. Stabler, Tarkenton, Staubach.

Tom Flores and Dick Vermiel? Really? How about Chuck Knox or Chuck Knoll.

I know it might be a licensing issue, but...wow

It's good that they added the legends and all. Plus they did a good job of trying to make them look authentic as far as equipment. This is the only flaw. If they don't play or look anything like the player as far as playing football then this will be like Halloween. The players are dressed up and all but act nothing like the actual players. That is why I think it is *vital* that Madden's game developers add things like actual player running animations. You know how 2k basketball has actual player shot, dunk, and layup packages. Madden should have run and juke packages. They could even put a title on the feature and call it signature running. Similar to what they started on the first next gen madden game. Imagine playing as Dion Sanders and he runs and jukes (moves) just like Dion. That would be some fun and really take you back. As well as legends, it would be a great treat to see current NFL players playing out the same way. I know somebody has to feel me on this.

Only two Steelers? Darn. Looks like the Greatest Show on Turf is back though.

Here is what I want to know. Let's say I want to relive the triplets era of the 1990s Cowboys. Aikman, Emmitt, and the Irvin are in... You can only use 1 at a time in CC, so if I choose Irvin, Romo is throwing to him, right? Even on the roster outside CC, where we can actually edit some stuff, I think all the legends are locked on that HOF team or whatever. So, from what I've gathered, none of these legends can be on the same "NFL" team at the same time... So no Montana to Rice or Young to Rice on a 49ers team, no triplets on the Cowboys, and no Warner and Faulk on a Rams team at the same time. I hope I'm wrong but I don't think so... Hopefully these guys can be traded or released off that Canton Greats team... does anyone know the answer to this?

Thats how it sounds to me also. Which is pretty disappointing, cause the reason why I would want my 80s-90s Niners it to play the early 90s Cowboys.

This is where the edited rosters not being allowed into cc is gonna really suck. We can't put all the legends onto their old teams and play like that.

Maybe I'm wrong, but Looman said that players stay where they're at unless they're a CAP, right?

So, assuming you had them available, maybe you could start a CCM as Montana...then "retire" from using him. That would leave him there. Then start a CCM as Rice, and then "retire him". Start a coaching CCM with Walsh & you're off to the races. They say you can "retire" as many times as you'd like without having to start over.

Or does that only work with the "regular" players? I don't think they ever said anything about Legends being different.

I totally agree with you.

The only thing I'm holding out hope on is that since they have historic playbooks, they have a really detailed Bill Walsh West Coast Offense playbook. I just hope it's not the same generic WCO from past maddens. Honestly the closest thing on a Madden resembling a true Bill Walsh playbook was Mike Holmgren's Seattle playbook on the 06-08 PS2 versions.

Guys that are wondering about pre-ordering, even if you do not pre order from there, you can still unlock everyone.

You just unlock them first thing if pre-ordered.

That sounds plausible, but I fear that legends are only like a one-time shot at the start a distinctive CCM. I think the frustrating part, is still all of the unknowns surrounding the mode. I guess we will find out though.

If Primetime doesn't look exactly like his self, I am going to FLIP!
