Madden NFL 13 News Post

Check out some of the new Madden NFL 13 screenshots, right here.

During the Madden NFL 13 webcast, EA Sports listed the player and coaching legends. Many of them will be available to use right away, others will be available via pre-order and Madden Ultimate Team (Joe Montana was confirmed as one of them from MUT).

The Canton team, which includes 27 all-time greats will be available in Play Now. You can also play as 1 of 33 legends in Connected Careers, as you try to compare your career against Hall of Famers.

Also mentioned, the Super Bowl will feature a new pre-game coin toss and Vince Lombardi Trophy presentation with legends bringing the trophy out to the players. Legend quarterbacks will have their own throwing motion and legend coaches will have their own playbooks.

If your player retires and meets the qualifications to become a Hall of Famer, you don't have to wait 5 years, it happens right after retirement (not realistic, they wanted to make it "Fun"). Speaking of retirement, players can come back into the NFL after they have retired. Will we see Brett Favre make a return?

No Brett Favre!

OH COME ON, you know how much of a field day the media in game would have with that.

And I saw in some of the E3 vids the historic offensive playbooks, which I thought was cool, but did he say anything about the defensive playbooks? I just can't see Tom Landry's offensive playbook without the Flex 4-3 to go with it.
That's another I'm concern about in connected. Career will all QBs in year 13 have the same throwing motion

Any chance of a list of all the legends?

Absolutely one of the best! I met him at the airport in Nashville. Cool guy. Wish I would've taken a picture with him.

Are the licensing deals with each player done every year? If so, maybe it didn't work out.

Hard to say, looking at the legal info for Madden it's not very specific. The devil is probably in the details of the actually agreement with NFL Players, Inc. License may be for just active players for example and they've gone and gotten non-exclusive agreements for the likeness of some players/coaches (or their estates) which wouldn't necessarily be disclosed in the copyright info.

tl;dr: who knows.

I missed the webcast. Two questions:
1. How do you unlock players that are available through other pre-orders. I hate mut & would rather not play it to get all the legends.

2. If a legend retires and achieves HOF status will he be able to make a comeback? Or will the fact that he doesn't make the hall be a dead giveaway that he will return?

I wonder if Reggie White (R.I.P.) can even get a pass rush around the suction blocking.

# 31 Facts @ 06/14/12 05:55 PM
So I can only use Montana and Rice if I go to Best Buy?

Is the only way to get them to pre-order, how can we in the UK get them?

I hope they bring back Neil O'Donnell with his big toothy top-lip-missing-looking grin.

# 35 Marino @ 06/14/12 05:59 PM
So we get Dick Vermeil and Joe Gibbs, but the coach with the most wins in NFL history is not in the game. Good job EA. Bull****.

And Dan Marino should be in the game.

What? You can do more than one CC at a time? I think you are confused.

I thought suction was removed in madden 12. I know in Mut he's unstoppable and I get 3-4 sacks per game

There was an interview with Looman where he said they might limit the amount of online CC's you can have, I believe he said ten, but I haven't heard anything about them limiting offline CC's.

I'm confused I pre-ordered at Gamestop so I get John Madden and Barry Sanders does that mean when I get the game I can't play as John Elway or Jerry Rice?
