MLB 2K12 News Post

MLB 2K12 patch v 1.2 should arrive in the next 24 hours for both Xbox 360 and PS3. Check out all the details below.

General
  • Hid the Upload options when not signed in.
  • Pitcher fatigue is properly set when loading back into a previously saved game.
  • Fixed problems where screenshots were corrupted prior to uploading to 2k Share.
MLB Today & MLB Today Season
  • Fixed crash in MLB Today based on schedule updates
  • Fixed crash when restoring default roster.
  • Fixed to properly use the date/time from the schedule to determine time of day for the game.
Gameplay
  • Fixed the rate on bad swing reactions, which was sometimes nearly 2x while player took several steps on camera
  • Improved the look of gathers in certain uncommon situations.
  • Fixed the "auto pitch" bug after a double switch.
  • Improved the base runner responsiveness when making decisions to advance and retreat with a ball in play.
  • Improved the playability of rundown throws. Previously they were too hard due to the fill speed of the throwing meter
  • Improved the base runner responsiveness when tagging up and launching from a base.
  • Improved the player’s paths when leaving the field and heading back to the dugouts.
  • Added code that helps eliminate errant check swings and throws to incorrect bases. Mostly for PS3 and PC users.
Online
  • Added a missing pause timer in the pitcher substitution menu.
  • Improved the outfielder reaction for online games. Users won’t miss balls that should be caught due to slow reaction times.
  • Adjusted pitch speed slider settings for ALLSTAR and LEGEND difficulty levels. This increases the difficulty for online gameplay.
  • Fixed exchange of team rival information to eliminate a divergence.
  • Exchanged inside edge data prior to franchise invite games to fix a divergence.
My Player
  • Fixed bug where game length could be set to 3 innings by setting it in Play Ball.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when looking for season goals.
  • Fixed a bug with career messages not properly adding when the list is full. This issue led to a crash on PS3.
  • Fixed a bug where a pitch speed would decrease after completing a drill reward.
  • Fixed a bug where off-speed pitches decrease in speed after receiving an award from a drill.

Pretty unimpressive list

"Improved the player’s paths when leaving the field and heading back to the dugouts."

WHOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

I wasn't expecting much of a patch anyway so this list isn't the least bit of a shock.

Nothing about performance - Guess I'm the only person that has stutter during camera movement in-game?

Looking at the My Player list its not clear but:

Will I be able to select a season goal now, I mean I get multiple messages throughout the season about selecting one but have not been able to select any.

The glitch where if you don't get called up to the Majors before the end of your first year you will eventually get to a point where your game freezes while either loading a game (I have heard of this happening several times) or the rarer after you complete a game it freezes (I say rarer because I have heard of the game freezing before the game several times but I have not heard of anyone else experiencing what I have experienced in my pitcher career). As it is my options are use my back-up save and hoping I stay in the Majors for the playoff race (I get called up for a game, and am understandably not able to to get 40Ks in the one start I have before the MLB Playoffs start, which would be fine except they demote me back to the minors rather than keeping me for the playoffs and letting me satisfy the season requirements to stay in the Majors), or hope that the game doesn't freeze in my final start the next season (the game when I satisfy the 5 Starts requirement for being called up) and I can actually be called up.

Kind of disappointed that they had all this time for a patch and all they fixed were some small code tweaks and animation fixes. Nothing about tuning hit distribution, pitching confidence, or tweaking power vs contact swings. Also, no AI tweaks or sim engine tweaks, such as CPU shuffling lineups when set to manual or poor logic when setting cpu lineups.

Overall I'm disappointed, but I guess we all should be grateful that they're releasing it on all three platforms, or even releasing it at all for that matter, when the game has been scrubbed permanently.

Anyone have a bad feeling that this is the last patch we'll see for the game and anything not fixed in this patch we'll just have to live with as long as we play the game from here on out?

They really should address the uniform colors in a roster update, but doubt that'll happen.

I doubt we'd see another patch, so hopefully the patch doesn't break other things in the game.

glad to see a patch even tjough the game has been canceled

They didn't add check swings online. What is hitting without a check swing?

They upped pitch speed with no ability to check a swing, great.

Ball dies too quickly when it hits the field and that wasn't addressed sigh

Its a patch. But honestly since this game (and very sad MLB 2k is great) is toast, what did anyone really expect? A full blown patch? Nah.

Only hoping the series is not dead. I enjoyed them all.

Sorry, but this patch is a joke...

As a strictly offline player, there is NOTHING mentioned regarding the hitches in the throwing motions (both infielders and outfielders)... I find this pathetic. It's a HUGE issue for offline players, and yet it's left undone.

Yet another reason why I gave up on working on rosters for this game. It's as if 2K is just throwing in the towel. I don't care if a guy leaves the field for the dugout in a bit better direction...

Totally agree, it seems as though they started to work on it but when the series got axed (before it went public) they just ceased all work. Which from a business perspective I can totally see being the reality of it. Nothing major had been addressed and they just touched up a few simpler issues. The posts by 2K reps for "info for future patches" was a joke. None of the concerns in the thread here or on the 2K website was addressed. But hey, at least they did something...PS3 players have yet to receive their NHL 2k10 patch

I actually might be done with 2K all together. I've been pretty disappointed with the direction they've taken with all their games and it seems like they're dropping like flies (being canceled that is). I wasn't too happy with NBA 2K12 and I know you Harsh didn't even bother with it this year.

i am going to reserve judgement until after the patch. i waited to fully get into my franchise until it dropped so tomorrow will be telling.

you never know if something is fixed but was not in the bullet points.

They decide to give it a patch the day I traded it in lol

Complain, complain, complain, SMH.

At this point I am just glad they released one. I can understand the frustration here but considering that 2K is done with baseball they could have just scrapped it.

I by no means think the notes reflect a complete patch when you look at the time they had to work on things, but I am glad that there are fixes in place.

Once the patch drops it will be easier to tell how good it actually is. I do hope nothing was broken with the patch though, because this is the only one we will probably get out of them.

The biggest things I like in this list are the pitch speeds being raised, and he baserunner logic. I was tired of my guy diving back to 2nd when a ball was hit between 2nd and first, he should advance to 3rd unless the field in playing in.

They should however fix the AI trying for diving catches ending up in too many triples/ITPHR, also I see no where a fix for where the AI sometimes wont throw the ball in the infield and u can easily advance.

# 20 Herky @ 06/02/12 06:36 PM
Just checked at 4:36pm central time and no patch yet.
