MLB 2K12 News Post

MLB 2K12 patch v 1.2 should arrive in the next 24 hours for both Xbox 360 and PS3. Check out all the details below.

General
  • Hid the Upload options when not signed in.
  • Pitcher fatigue is properly set when loading back into a previously saved game.
  • Fixed problems where screenshots were corrupted prior to uploading to 2k Share.
MLB Today & MLB Today Season
  • Fixed crash in MLB Today based on schedule updates
  • Fixed crash when restoring default roster.
  • Fixed to properly use the date/time from the schedule to determine time of day for the game.
Gameplay
  • Fixed the rate on bad swing reactions, which was sometimes nearly 2x while player took several steps on camera
  • Improved the look of gathers in certain uncommon situations.
  • Fixed the "auto pitch" bug after a double switch.
  • Improved the base runner responsiveness when making decisions to advance and retreat with a ball in play.
  • Improved the playability of rundown throws. Previously they were too hard due to the fill speed of the throwing meter
  • Improved the base runner responsiveness when tagging up and launching from a base.
  • Improved the player’s paths when leaving the field and heading back to the dugouts.
  • Added code that helps eliminate errant check swings and throws to incorrect bases. Mostly for PS3 and PC users.
Online
  • Added a missing pause timer in the pitcher substitution menu.
  • Improved the outfielder reaction for online games. Users won’t miss balls that should be caught due to slow reaction times.
  • Adjusted pitch speed slider settings for ALLSTAR and LEGEND difficulty levels. This increases the difficulty for online gameplay.
  • Fixed exchange of team rival information to eliminate a divergence.
  • Exchanged inside edge data prior to franchise invite games to fix a divergence.
My Player
  • Fixed bug where game length could be set to 3 innings by setting it in Play Ball.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when looking for season goals.
  • Fixed a bug with career messages not properly adding when the list is full. This issue led to a crash on PS3.
  • Fixed a bug where a pitch speed would decrease after completing a drill reward.
  • Fixed a bug where off-speed pitches decrease in speed after receiving an award from a drill.

Seems like I'm getting more strikeouts being dropped by the catcher then pre-patch. Which is good. Seems like they were too rare before.

But yeah, NL games (or, more specifically, games without the DH) are still tainted with the whole "I'm gonna let the setup reliever bat, and then I'm going to bring in the closer" CPU intelligence. Maybe I'll just play with the DH on all the time. Even the NL games.

Do there need to be any slider tweaks post patch? I'm using MKHarsh's and I've only played a few games, but it seems like the CPU is swinging at way more bad pitches than they were post patch, which is leading to them not hitting for crap. Also everyone seems like they aren't hitting with any power. Both for me and for CPU.

Could somebody post the patch for offline players?
I mean extract and post the patch.

cheers

I checked the 2ksports.com forum and lol...what can I say...the thread regarding the pc patch...is gone.

Yeah, I just went on the site, and that sticky at the top if I remember correctly has been removed.

Nails on the coffin for me at this stage.

Either I am bonkers or the PC patch installed automatically?

Since a few days (and I didn't change ANY sliders) I am noticing the following things, regardless of who I play with:
- way more ground outs
- way more swings of the CPU on bad pitches
- way less extra base hits
- way more homeruns
- way more steal attempts
And some other things regarding fielding and baserunning.
As I said: I didn't change any sliders.
First I thought it was perhaps I was playing with certain teams, but now I tested it in about 15 games, all with different teams, and it is all the same.

Am I crazy or not?

I just played half an inning with zero hitching. Constant 60fps. Granted a new beta driver just released that I'm using, but the game-play so-far is smooth as butter. Maybe the patch did deploy?

edit - definitely something positive has happened with the performance on my end.

update - played the entire game, zero hitching now. Use to get lots of frame reduction on foul balls when the camera would pan to the fans. Likewise, any replays while the teams were changing sides would stop-frame and then continue. Entire game played at 60fps. Either nvidia's new beta's are a god-send or 2k released a patch?

@wudl83 - either you and i are suffering from the placebo effect, or I noticed some game-play changes also

There might have been a mini patch for the PC that was automatically downloaded once you start the game cause I find that it's harder to get Strikeouts on CPU batters and Fielding for the user is a little better.

Guys c'mon, how could a PC patch download and install itself on your computer?

Sometimes you are right, but sometimes you go way too far. When you start up MLB 2k there sometimes comes a message "Download progress xx %". How can a download start itself? And install itself? Uuuuh, welcome to 21st century.

I've noticed others (on other sites) have mentioned that their steam version of 2k12 had an update (not a roster update). I haven't seen it yet, though.

Honestly, the steam 'update' could be for a variety of reasons...

wonder whats gonna happen to those that bought off amazon...

What I meant is game patches don't just appear and download without any confirmation. If and when they release a patch, they'll release patch notes and a downloadable patch for the disk version. And that's when you'll know your game is patched. 2K is not going to patch the game through Steam without releasing that info plus a patch for those who bought the disk.

If you want to believe your game was patched, go right ahead. I'm not stopping you. Heck, have a glass of eggnog and celebrate!

That is the normal way, yes. But something must have happened. The game plays way smoother, a lot of strange outfield plays are gone. I didn't change anything regarding ratings or so, so how could that be? I can not explain it. I use the same sliders with that I got a bunch of extra hits from user and cpu in nearly every game and now those numbers are way lower.
I play a lot of games and because of that I realize for sure if the game plays different.

Just to be clear, I was kidding . Anyhoo, steam routinely auto-updates games without patch-notes. It's sometimes days or weeks before they are viewable through steam.
