I'm as big a fan of 2K as there is, but the gameplay this year still has some serious holes in it as well. The passing trajectories are almost as awful in NBA as they were in NCAA 12 for one example. But this isn't the place for this anyway.

This is why I get annoyed when people throw around words like "fluff" & "gimmick" so much when whatever they are calling that really isn't either of those. Now this one the other hand.... If you looks up those fluff and gimmick in the dictionary, then a picture of the Heisman Challenge shows up.
Spoiler

As I've said before, I don't play legends modes in any sports game - not NBA 2k, not UFC Undisputed, not even wrestling games (and I haven't watched wrestling regularly in 12-13 years). With that said, if they're going to add a mode like this, they should at least go all out and add classic teams. Even if all the other non-Heisman players aren't named. I honestly don't see how this appeals to anyone, but if it does, then more power to ya.

I agree with that.

In general though, I think the NCAA series has a ton more gameplay issues.

Well simple don't buy it....I know if I hated something so much I would never spend my money on it....

There's definitely a lot of little gameplay issues in NCAA 12 that frustrate the hell out of me, but none of them have gotten me to put the game down. I've played through 6 seasons in my dynasty in the past month now. The issues in 2K's gameplay were enough that I finally just couldn't play it anymore, and I literally played 2k11 from the point it came out to the day 2k12 came out. The issues in the Association mode made me not even play through more than three seasons this year after I had played through a ton in 2k11 and had spent hours fixing the player ratings in that game to make it more realistic.

I was really disappointed in 2k12 this year because they added so many things to make the gameplay better (one HUGE example being the improvements to post play), but for every improvement they made, it seemed they took a step back somewhere else. I've gotten WAY more playing time out of Madden and NCAA this year than I did with 2K after I didn't even bother with NCAA 11 and barely played Madden 11.

You argue that the players in NBA's Greatest mode weren't all maxed out. That's because relative to other NBA players, they aren't far superior (with a couple exceptions such as MJ obviously). A guy like Scottie Pippen probably isn't better than today's LeBron James. Therefore, his ratings aren't superior to LeBron's. Meanwhile in this mode, you have someone like Barry Sanders, who is the most elusive running back in NFL history. Compare that to guys that high-rated RBs in COLLEGE and the difference is gigantic. Not to mention the fact that you have a lot of people that complain that Michael Jordan is marginally better than LeBron and that "if LeBron is a 98, MJ should be like a 120 overall". NCAA actually does this, and now they get lambasted for it.

NCAA flat out doesn't have player tendencies, and tendencies just don't really work in football games the way it works in basketball. In basketball, there's more free-lancing/options. In football, you call a play and stick to that exact play (with the exception of some guys/some routes where guys can break off). You're not going to see a "Call for jump ball pass" tendency for a WR like you'll see a "Post up tendency" for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. That idea doesn't really make sense for football games.

You argue that NBA did it right by having all the retro teams and stuff that you played with. I don't know if you noticed, but there were TONS of complaints about the fact that 2K didn't allow you to take the legends and put them on other teams/didn't allow you to take a legend into My Player mode. NCAA decided to focus on putting the legends in today's game. They just decided to appease the same people that clamored for this option in 2K's mode. Both 2K and NCAA missed out on a big opportunity in that way.
Spot on ........gft

Cool story......but do we care? You answer that.....why do people feel the need to tell others they will not get the game? Nobody cares

Yeah, this, uh... might be the most negative reaction to a feature in a game since QB Vision in 06. I mean... I've only counted 1 positive reaction.

IMO, EA dropped the ball on this one. We all knew that eA was gonna try and copycat 2K with this feature. We just didn't know it would be this... is "lazy" the word?

I mean, I'm not trying to knock EA, but... after we seen the most robust Legends mode in sports gaming history, I don't know what gave EA the idea to be so barebones with this feature. This feature had the potential to be so much more than what it's being reported to be. But, nope. This is a gimmick througband through...

So that's it for Heisman mode? lol. So basically just created players that you can add to any team. I thought they'd bring back those classic game challenges they had years ago and focus them around the Heisman players.

If they made it like that then, it would have had a better response.

Yeah......this mode doesn't jump out at me. I probably won't ever play this mode. I could care less about former players playing on my current team. I'll just stick with my edited rosters. I figured this Heisman Mode wouldn't be much and I'm glad I didn't get my hopes up over it.

Look man...I played football in college last year...4orget casual nonsense. Lately EA has been making the game of football seem real corny. I'm pullin for them but not 1 fan has been blown away by your football games lately. It's not a good look when the majority of the comments are negative.

# 78 Rivals @ 05/31/12 02:12 AM
Why? This mode seems unnecessary and its promotion arbitrary.

# 79 ActLikeYouCrow @ 05/31/12 02:58 AM
i finally get a licensed barry sanders and this is the mode you give me to utilize him? its like sticking barry sanders on the lions for his whole career

<--- Has realized that I seem to be the only fan upset about seeing his favorite team's legend being in a rival's uniform, lol.
