Another MLB 12 The Show game update arrived this morning, bring it up to version 1.16. Check below for the details and let us know what you are seeing.
  • Schedules and box score were misaligned for a portion of the games for certain teams.
  • Occasionally when loading into online games, an empty field (home plate view) would be shown and user has to PS button out.
  • Analog bunting interface, versus a behind the pitcher view in online games would cause a frequent freeze when the user on offense bunted.

Ok, I deleted all game data (patches and data for the older versions of the show). The RTTS that I've been talking about did not freeze. Then I downloaded the patch and tried again but this time it froze when I tried to play the first game. So I'm just going to go with no patches.

Russell any fix for my problem? Franchise mode with the Rangers managing the game with dugout view. It freezes when I'm at bat when the catcher is trying to throw it back to the pitcher. It's a new game and new HDD. I haven't downloaded any patches on this HDD. The game when I first played it was a rental it played fine I simulated spring training and played fine until I downloaded the 1.16 patch and played the second game against Seattle. Which it froze in the same matter. I deleted everything even did a complete system restore still froze. So I bought a new game and got a new HDD and I'm playing the spring training games but it freezes. Why??

I'm almost at the All-Star break in my Franchise and a little confused about the bugs introduced in patch 1.16

Does it affect only Franchises that were already past the AS break when the patch was applied or will it also affect one like mine once I pass that date too?

So far Exhibition mode for sure.

I am just going to reinstall the game maybe that will fix it.

I bit the bullet and reinstalled the game and created a new RTTS.

Totally sucks to lose 3.5 years of gameplay but I'm jonesing to play.

Oh well.

Haven't gotten an update in a while. Where are we on a fix for this? Or are you basically telling us (by not saying anything) we are screwed with what we had done before the 1.16 patch.

This is a separate issue from the RTTS save file crash. What you are experiencing sounds like the schedule bug introduced from patch 1.06. If you can't delete all the patchs and fast forward to the All Star break or the post season. You will need to start over.

I've tried simming the intire season and post and picking up in the next season. It still froze. I delete it all and start over with the current, default, or online roster it still freezes.

This sounds really odd. So you can't play franchise at all correct?

Barely. If it don't freeze in one game it'll freeze the next. It always happens when my side is up to bat. After the pitch if the catcher catches it, it'll freeze as he's throwing it back to the pitcher.

I would think if the freeze were related to the corruption from the patches, it would a) be easily reproduceable, and b) freeze only in the main menu, or while loading at the start of the game. Once everything's already loaded, the patches and schedule wouldn't come into play at a random point in the game like that.

I'm not a member of the Best Buy Geek Squad, but I'd guess you have a bad disc or a bad PS3. I'd try using someone else's disc (maybe rent one), and someone else's PS3.

Another thought: Are you using the same roster file each time you start franchise mode? Have you tried default rosters?

I've bought a new game and a new HDD. I've tried every roster.

a new HDD but the same playstation? It would be the lens and laser piece causing the trouble I'd think.

Do any of your other games load as much or as often as the Show? The Show taxes the PS3 pretty hard.

Also, and I know this is a dumb quesion, have you tried blowing out the dirt from the inside with some canned air? If there's some dirt or debris holding up the laser or the lens from moving freely, that would definitely cause the freezing.

/having flashbacks to first-gen PS1 laser problems.
