C'mon Amazon. Got the Vita version preordered there and would definitely nab this bundle...

Pick Up MLB 12 The Show on PS3 and PS Vita, Save $20

Quote:
Show Fans – We’re proud to make claim that MLB The Show on PS3 is the highest-rated sports game on the market for the past 4 years. With only days left before MLB 12 The Show hits store shelves, we know many of you plan to not only pick up the PS3 version but are anxious to pick up the all-new PS Vita version as well.

One of the most important goals for us each year is to listen to our consumers and try our best to address their concerns. Over the past several weeks, we’ve heard you loud and clear – consumers who purchase both should be rewarded with a discount – and we agree. Starting on March 6th, we’ll be offering a $20 instant discount, for anyone who purchases both MLB 12 The Show on PS3 and on PS Vita, together during the same transaction at checkout. What this means is that while our standalone PS3 product retails for $59.99 and our standalone PS Vita product retails for $39.99, if you purchase both together at the same time, you’ll get them for a combined price of $79.99.

Owning both versions of the game allows you to experience the same realism of MLB 12 The Show wherever you go. On either your PS3 or Vita, you can transfer your Season, Franchise, or Road to the Show mode save files between your PS3 and PS Vita anywhere at any time through the PlayStation Network. We want as many of our consumers as possible to have that experience.

Visit your favorite retailer for more details on this limited-time offer.

Already canceled my Amazon pre order. Besides, when I tried to order the Vita version, it wasn't available for release day delivery even though it said it was. It showed the estimated delivery date of March 12-14th.

I've been watching for Canadian deals, but I haven't seen much of anything. The best I could find so far is BestBuy/Futureshop, $5 off from each version (so for both you'll get $10 discount) for online orders with free shipping (no store pickup I believe, so no guarantee for release day shipping). Also that'll match if the price drops on the release day. So I'm thinking of going ahead with BestBuy.

I think EB/Gamestop does have "Trade 2, get $50" thing going for MLB 12 PS3, but I don't have many games for trading in at the moment, so haven't looked into the detail. You might want to check the deal out as well.

I've learned how US is the king of consumerism! The competition there is just amazing.

Hmmm...the official announcement doesn't say anything about it being a bundle. That's probably how I can convince them. Thanks for posting that.

He is correct, all gamestops got the email today, they are all honoring it. I went to mine at lunch and they said its a corp wide deal that they are in on as well with Sony.

Yup, they changed their tune today, I just called and asked. Back to the store!

So has anyone heard anything on whether or not Amazon will be honering this promotion? I sent them an email but haven't heard back yet. I'm seriously considering cancelling my preorder. It still shows my total at $99.98 for both versions (they are on the same transaction as the announcement stated).

# 72 Steelersfan85 @ 03/02/12 03:50 PM
Well I currently have both ordered for $68 total but I could get both for $60 if amazon starts honoring the deal

To elaborate:

Word came down this morning from the top about the deal - the individual stores apparently weren't aware of this deal yesterday. I called back just in case and they said they were honoring it now. Ran down to Gamestop, got it pre-ordered, and I'll be picking it up Monday night! If you got snubbed yesterday, call again - you may get a different response today.

One thing: If you decide to pay for it in full when you preorder, you will be temporarily paying the price of both games. I was told the deal would only be honored when I go to pick the games up - in other words, I'll get $20 cash (yes, I made sure it isn't just store credit) back when I hit up GS Monday night for the games.

Is this a special deal, or just some new fangled math the kids are using these days?

I got in on the newegg deal for $48 and then used the $20 credit for preordering the Vita from amazon and used that credit on The Show on the Vita.

So yes they were both deals but both were very easy to get in on.

I have both preordered from Amazon as well and I'm still waiting to see if Amazon picks this deal up. One thing i have noticed for the Vita version, it doesn't appear to be release date delivery like the PS3 version. Messaged them on twitter inquiring about it but still no response. Has anyone else noticed this?

Well, I just went to my local Gamestop this afternoon and while the manager had vaguely heard of this deal they were not at this time doing the deal. He checked for corporate emails while I was there and........nothing. He did say that if it was on the website for "online" that the stores would be honoring it as well and that I could get the $20 back when I picked the games up. Apparently not ALL Gamestops are up to speed on this deal yet.

Ok, I get it now. So if Amazon honors the combo deal, you will switch your PS3 order to them, nice!

Yeah, I noticed that option isn't available anymore for the Vita version. I was lucky to get release day shipping on both early last week. I guess Amazon is limited as to how many copies they can promise for release day. Keep your eye on it though, I've noticed on a couple of my past preorders the release day option would come back again and then you can just go into your order and change your shipping method (it wasn't automatic). This is another reason I'm reluctant to cancel my order, but I will since there's a GameStop less than 10 mins from my house (even though I hate them, 20 bucks is 20 bucks).

As long as they're up to speed on Wednesday when I show my butt up on their doorstep at opening time I'm all good. If not heads will roll.

I canceled my first order to add credit I got from ordering the Vita and reordered but release date shipping was no longer available. I contacted them twice and the first just said it wasn't possible and the second made up some bs excuse that you can't cancel an order and create a new one that also has release date shipping.

I did get lucky and release date shipping was available two days ago but obviously it is no longer available. So the best I can say is to keep checking because it may become available again.
