Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, but from what I gather, in offline you are playing real-life MLB teams and with the only benefit being the ability to be able to use their team stadium (although perhaps you get some budget from this as well).

I don't believe you play ranked games and move up/down the season leaderboards if you don't play online, and probably don't even have stats accumulate. So in essence, while the mode can be played somewhat offline, it is largely an online mode.
Huh, that's not how I understood it. I know unlocking stadiums is one benefit of playing real MLB teams, but I thought you also got funds, etc. I don't personally care about leaderboards so much, but I don't see why that would keep stats from being accumulated. I guess I'll just have to start playing it and see how it goes.

Now I'm just going by the video here, but it looks like there is a base number of credits that you can earn by beating MLB teams, and then some extra depending on how good they are. Although Russell confirmed that you have to be online to play the game, I don't think you ever have to play an opponent online to enjoy the mode.

I was kinda bummed that being online would be a requirement for DD, but I understand that's where the competition would be fun as well.

All this time I was assuming DD could be played entirely offline if a user so chooses. Perhaps, all your team info are stored in the dedicated server, so even if you only play against CPU, those info must be stored and fetched from it, thus needing online. If that's the case, it's basically an online only mode.

can't believe this is the crap they are pushing. do they not know their audience? I'm sure most of us would have strongly preferred a expansion team mode, instead of a crappy facebook game you pay money to play.

I'm confused.
Could you point out to us where it says you have to pay anything to play?
I can't find it.
Thanks.

You don't have to pay $$$ to play if you don't want to.

A full-featured franchise is good stuff as always, but I think DD is great in that it actually condenses the "essentials" (like training, seeing players grow/diminish, etc.) of franchise into a mode that's playable in a shorter time.

My only concern is having to play any random player online.

lift;

I think it's full nine inning games.
I wish we(CD guys) had more answers on this...but they were really crunching it when we were there and it wasn't fully playable for us yet at the time.

This is one of the main pillars to the mode. A lot of people don't want to play 162 game seasons or sim games.

This mode will at least give me something to do while Minor League Rosters are being worked on.

# 50 Chrisksaint @ 03/01/12 03:49 PM
Yeah I'm with Scott, anything to pass the time until then. This and RTTS will be good for that and just fun

This point in the video shows that there will be a "Location Audio" and a "Name Audio".

I wonder if the audio is only available for predefined set of locations/nicknames, or there is some sort of speech capability with which you can make them pronounce mostly anything.

We will have feedback threads for people to submit team names, locations, art pieces, etc....... in a week for MLB 13.

I must say one thing, and I know nothing can be done about this but...I'm REALLY not looking forward to playing the "$wAg BOIZZ" and the "ReAl GaNgStAz".

I wish all the names had to be higher quality. Wishful thinking though.

Haha... maybe the devs can include some filter for team names... like you don't get matched against gamers using certain words in their team names. jk

You have to tip your hat to the developers on this mode. I have never bought the show although I hear great things. its combines the turnover of college football with the development side, it gives you the freedom to play it out anyway you want ar your own pace. I usually dont play the card collecting games but this one brings a unique way to compete.

This seems complicated and very involved but very cool. I wish I had the time for it. My and a friend draft teams and play in an online league - 162 game season. This takes up most of my Show time.
