I tell you people will complain or take shots @ this company all day long. What's so different about this cover compared to the NBA 2K12 cover...

Absolutely nothing. But since it's 2k.........................

The cover is okay. It would've been better if the background was blue or gray. I think the problem is that Verlander is closer/bigger compared to Jordan, Magic & Bird on the NBA 2K12 covers. Can't wait for this game! Hopefully 2K does the same thing they did with NBA 2K12 in MLB 2K12 as far as graphics go.

Nothing, but I've never seen that cover before... and I don't like that one much as well.

I don't hate the covers themselves anyway, but I just question whether they think this is an appropriate selling tactic, especially for a simulation baseball game. If this was for The Bigs 3, then this isn't a problem (but again, using Tiger blue in the background would've looked pretty good I think).

One thing I do like about the MLB 2K12 title, though, is that the player isn't covering up the game's title at all. I don't know why some sports games have recently been allowing that strange overlap (see Bird cover), especially from the title of the game.

They can just put a baseball on the cover with no background for all I care, as long as the game is good it doesn't matter. They could put boy George on the cover, if the game is good and better than last years by a huge margin, then I will buy it...that's a big IF though. Not gonna hold my breathe with this dev team.

Besides, I might be in the minority, but the cover isn't bad at all. I like it...would have looked better with napoli or Cruz on the cover. Lol but the verlander cover is bad to the bone...its aggresive IMO

i see 2k does the same art design across the sports games.
last year with the 3 pics, this year with the hard red.

One thing that will get me to buy 2k this year [i bought it last year] is if the franchise mode is improved and glitches cleaned up.

Thats it and they got my green, i enjoyed it last year as my bball game of choice.

I don't mind it, just a cover. They could have definitely done without the electrical streaks around his throwing arm.

Say what you will, but I have an extreme blast playing every 2K sports game on record, faulty and hokey as some of them seem to be at times. Even 2K baseball with its strange sounds, visuals, and pretty watered down feel at times is just... fun. No other way to explain it. Same way that Call of Duty is.

The one thing that's sorely missing from this game is the customization options that it used to have. The fact that I can't hide the pitching cursor, check swing, or use zone hitting tend to baffle me just slightly, and frankly it will solve many of the game's small problems with the pitcher/batter confrontation. Otherwise, I'm playing MLB 2K10 as we speak, and I can just overlook so many things in the game because I still have a bunch of fun attempting simulation baseball as well as they can offer it.

I am not the kind of person who judges a game by its cover, so I'm not saying inside this box is an arcade game. As I said in my first post... if it's their marketing ploy to attract customers, it only makes sense for them to use this tactic (especially if it looks like their critically acclaimed NBA 2K12 game). Unfortunately, for those who like the cover to be reflective of the game on the inside, this doesn't match well. Plus, as people said, the red background doesn't match the blue that Verlander is wearing.

One of the very first idiom's you learn in life "Don't judge a book by its cover!".

And you wonder why 2K avoids releasing info early. they can't release a cover without SCEA drones chiming in on how bad the game will be.
Stop it. Really.
You sound utterly ridiculous.

Plus there is no need for the demeaning comments directed at at a poster.

Yea I agree with this. I was heavy into franchise until the DL bug hit me and then my interest quickly dwindled. I am kinda hoping for some drastically cleaned up graphics and some actual baggy pants.

I'm not too crazy about the cover, but I hope the game is a lot better.

I am entertained by the application of buzzwords like "sim" and "arcade" to the cover. I've never once attached a feel of quality to a cover. To me, it just seems 2K is going for year-to-year consistency with it's titles.

In any case, I'm not a fan of the design personally (I like simple stuff), but once a game is opened the cover is a mostly unnoticed part of the storage for me anyway.

I am from Detroit and happy with the cover obviously. That being said I think it is time for different covers depending on what state you are from. Not very cost effective but to settle the dispute how about only put sport stars from whoever wins the Championship in each sport maybe the MVP of each finals in the major sport games?

Did NASA design this?
