Hey man, thanks for the work that you're doing here. I've asked this on another forum, but figured I'd ask here as well in case there are people who don't browse said other forum so that the issue can be cleared up. Is the invisible wall back in ladder matches? Last year, when the ladder was pushed over, the wrestlers on the ladder would either fall out of the ring or onto the ropes, depending on the positioning of the ladder. However, it appears that the invisible wall(where you just fall down inside the ring) might be back, but I've also heard reports that it could just be the positioning of the ladder. So if you get a chance to play a ladder match and find out for sure, it'd be much appreciated.

Intresting. That brings up another question, does the slower bar result in a slower count?

Alright thanks!
I can't wait to mess with the attribute and sliders.

I just want the AI to be more aggressive and also less of a pushover, so far from what I read and seen it looks like that is the case.

I hope they use momentum as the engine behind who is winning and losing (like the N64 days) in the future and ONLY use damage as a tool to slow down ur opponent.

This will fix some of the "house rules" the user has to apply and lame match endings.

They also need to address the commentary.

and matches involving a lot of wrestlers, its just too crowded and hectic...I don't know what it is...Maybe the ring is small?

Its probably the fact that the AI rarely takes the fight outside.

Dude I just tested this out and it led to my first true Holy **** moment with WWE 12! I set up a PvP ladder match with Randy Orton and Justin Gabriel and just tried moving the ladder around and climbing it, then pushing it over. I set up the ladder in the middle of the ring facing the announce table and climbed it with Orton. Gabriel pushed over the ladder and Orton spilled out of the ring onto the floor closest to the camera.

But the ladder came to rest on the top rope. For the hell of it, I bounced Gabriel off the opposite ropes and toward the ladder to see what would happen. Instead of stopping when he reached the ladder, he ran up the ladder that was leaning against the top rope, leaped off and hit Orton with a hurricanrana on the outside. If this was in SvR last year, I certainly never saw it. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen in a wrestling game.

Anyway to answer your question, no there are no invisible walls with the ladders. You just have to have them positioned the right way.

Alright. The reason I ask is because I noticed in the Money in the Bank video posted above, that had the likes of Daniel Bryan, JR, Cole, Lesnar, Christian and Kofi Kingston, they didn't seem to fall onto the ropes and what not, whereas in SVR 2011 MITB matches, they would. Here's a link to what I'm talking about from last year's game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_EHh-FSoG4&feature=related

Again, maybe it's something to do with more than two guys being in a ladder match, or maybe some things got lost in translation with Yuke's because of the implementation of the "Predator" technology. Thanks again for your work and prompt response.

1. I know they had to give the old titles different names to differentiate but really, WWE Classic IC champion, Attitude WWE Champion. At least they are announced as they should be. Interested to hear how they announce the spray painted belts. Booker T may get the spray painted WCW World title rather than the classic WCW Heavyweight title.

2. Maybe it is the video quality, but I doubt it. It seems that the custom arenas as the NCAA Teambuilder effect. The ring apron looks grainy.

Overall though, the game is sounding really impressive. I might need to avoid the forums from now on because I don't want it all spoiled. Definitely don't post about details involving RTWM. If you do, mark it as a spoiler.

I have a question on Custom Music. If you have it, do you know if the glitches were fixed from last year. Custom music would play when you won the match, then the post match replay started. When the replay ended, the music restarted. Do you know if this was fixed and do custom themes echo? Thanks for your time!

Not only the stadium effect for themes, but does it adjust the volume as well? If not, I'll go ahead and fix all my tracks prior to the 22nd. I remember in 2010, most custom themes were just too loud and you couldn't hear any announcing... then again, the crowd was absolutely dead during entrances in that game so it wasn't always a bad thing.

Can you tell me if you can start out with vacant titles in Universe? I know they have default champions set to them, but can they be vacated? I ask because what I do with my Universe depends on that.

# 31 jrider99 @ 11/13/11 03:51 PM
Well I finally had a chance to mess around with Universe Mode a little last night and I'm not quite sure what to make of it...

First off, I wanted to adjust the rosters and superstars to be as current as possible. I spent about an hour going through and putting teams together (Miz and R-Truth, Swagger and Ziggler, Air Boom) and editting alliances and rivals. I have to say, it was more work that I imagined. You don't fully grasp the size of the roster until you go in and start adjusting everybody on it. Sheesh.

Once I got that finished, I went in and assigned titles to the current champions. Here's where things got weird, though.

First, there doesn't seem to be any way to vacate a title. I understand the reasoning for this to a certain extent, but EVERY SINGLE CHAMPIONSHIP was assigned to a superstar. And I couldn't find any way to strip guys of those belts -- I could only assign them to other superstars. Perhaps there is a way to fix this, but I spent way too much time looking for an answer and never found one. I moved guys to different brands and even made them free agents, but that didn't remove the titles.

Another issue I came across involved the legends. I was wanting to set up my Universe to be current, so I moved all the legends from their roster to the free agents, thinking that would eliminate them from showing up on my weekly Raw cards. It didn't. The very first week, Air Boom was scheduled to compete against Demolition on Raw, and the Road Warriors were the No. 1 contenders to the tag belts, even though neither of those teams were on an active roster. Maybe this is the way it's intended to be, but I thought I read somewhere that rosters were set up so this wouldn't happen...

As far as the cards themselves, I didn't notice any problems at all there. I simmed the first month and didn't see any gimmick matches, other than a fatal fourway on Superstars and a triple-threat cage match to determine the No.1 contender to the World Championship on Smackdown. I saw a couple feuds develop and the changes I made to the roster were reflected as Miz came out and interfered in a match between R-Truth and Cena. The next week, the card had Cena and a mystery partner scheduled to take on Awesome Truth (the partner ended up being Mysterio, BTW.)

I was able to edit matches completely, or simply change the competitors in the match.

I'm not sure what to make of Universe mode right now. The over-abundance of titles is a big turn-off, to be honest, especially since those guys come out wearing the straps and are announced as the champion. Lame, very lame. I'm hoping there's something I'm overlooking -- it could have been the case as it was really, really late when I got started -- but I don't know.

Anyway, I'll be spending more time with Universe Mode in the coming days. I'll take a look at the custom music stuff, too, though I've never spent a lot of time messing with that in the past. Even so, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to tell tracks are too loud or otherwise sound like crap.

Did you look for a wrestler called "Vacant" when you changed titles? Might be what you are looking for, then again, I don't recall if that was an option in 2010. I'll pull it out later and see.

I believe there should be an option that outright turns off legends. Making them free agents wouldn't do that. If anything, that means they can be on any show; not exclusive to Raw or Smackdown.

And the abundance of titles shouldn't be a problem because you can only have 4 titles on a show I believe: a top tier title, mid-level title, tag titles, and a women's title.

One question I did have that I thought of: are there any tournaments in the game now? I remember back in No Mercy being able to do tournaments for titles, but there is no tournament what-so-ever in SVR 2010. Probably couldn't incorporate them into storylines any way (easy to write a storyline so that it appears that way, though), but still fun to do in exhibition mode.

The problem with titles is that while there are only four that are tracked with rankings, etc., the other titles are still in the Universe. Triple H and Kevin Nash were booked in a match on Raw, and Trips came out with the classic WWE championship, was annouced as the WWE champion and the commentary reflected his status as champion.

There has to be something I missed with regard to the titles. But the way they are assigned, I don't recall there being any option to remove a belt from a guy who has it be default. I vacated the titles in the main menu outside of Universe and that didn't help, either.

I will have to look around some more when I get home tonight. I didn't think to check if there was an Options tab in the Universe menu (I don't remember one, but like I said, it was really late.) Also, the lack of an instruction manual isn't helping things, either.

I'll check on the tournaments, too. Don't remember seeing any, but I wasn't really looking, either.

Haven't messed with sliders, other than bumping up the Finisher and Weapon sliders a few clicks. I like knowing that if I hit a guy with a finisher, he's not going to bounce right back up.

I've heard that THQ redid the blood system a bit. Did any of your matches have someone bleeding and if so does it look better or different than recent years? I ask, as I like to have my feuds culminate in some truly brutal slobberknockers and effective blood is a must in my feud culminations lol.

First, I generally have not liked the Smackdown vs. Raw series. They have gotten better in recent years, but I always felt that important aspects of the game were lacking, like the AI and how guys consistently no-sold moves. Adding sliders to help fix that was one of the biggest additions SvR ever made, as far as I'm concerned.

Second, I absolutely loved WWE All Stars. I haven't had that much fun with a wrestling game since the N64 days. My boys and I still play it on a regular basis and it's always a blast.

Finally, I know as much about WWE 12 as you guys do. Shoot, some of you probably know more. So if I mark out like a 10-year-old girl who just met John Cena, please cut me some slack. I really, really want this game to be awesome.

OK, so the game has installed and I'm going to jump into an exhibition match to get the feel for things. If you guys have any questions, fire away and I'll do my best to answer.
Hi man!

Please can you answer this question . Can you still knock out the referee? Also i understand you can wake him up by pressing "A" when you interfere. Can you wake him up like that in any match?. If you cant thats cool but i hope you can still knock him out .

Cheers!

To vacate a title I think you go to the superstar edit screen (say HHH) It's the same way that you make a guy the champion. Just go to the attitude era WWE title and press x (on ps3) it should ask you if you want to vacate the belt. Last year. Made batista all the champs I didn't use and then 1 at a time vacated them all. So that should work. Any luck getting a title match n exhibition yet?

Also I think if you use brand specific tag titles it should fix the free agent team problems.... Not 100% sure with that though.

I tried that and it didn't work. In the main options menu, you are given a list of titles and can assign or vacate whatever ones you want. But on the superstar edit screen in Universe, the titles are displayed by that photo THQ released a few weeks back. You highlight which belt you want and click on it to assign it to that superstar. But when I clicked on it again, it didn't remove it.

I will check on this some more tonight when I get home. I definitely want to figure this out because it's the only real hangup I have with Universe right now, though admittedly I haven't spent much time with it.

I know you can knock out the ref, as I've seen it happen. Don't know about waking him up, though I saw it happen in THQ's Universe video earlier this week.
