EA Sports released another NHL 12 tuner update this morning. Check below for the details.
Quote:
We have released a new tuner this morning. The tuning file is an update to v1.02 to help out with goalie grading.
----v1.02 Updated----
1) Slightly decreased medium hit interference penalties in all modes except for OTP/Clubs. Overall they are higher than when we shipped with, but lower than the v1.01 update as well as lower than what is currently in OTP/clubs. This will help with the CPU players being called for interference and putting you down a man.
2) Adjusted online and offline Be a Pro goalie stat grade ratings so they are more generous. Please note that the starting grade is a C+ so the grades go up/down from there
Offline:
Each save is now worth 3.3 points towards your raw grade value
Each goal against is now a 9 point reduction
Online:
Each save is now worth 5 points towards your raw grade value
Each goal against is now a 9 point reduction
----v1.02----
1) Reduced effectiveness of hip checks to Versus and HUT, previously this was only applied to OTP/Clubs
2) Decreased distance traveled when diving for a poke check because it was too effective in certain situations (applies to all online and offline modes)
----v1.01----
V1.01 (effects all modes, except offline with V1.00)
-Small adjustment to goalie hug post to reduce vulnerability to far side goals coming around the net
-Small adjustment to guard the near post on shots
-Increase skating friction while doing protect puck (pretty small amount)
-Reduce stick lift penalties (hitting the hands is not a penalty now in some situations)
OTP Specific Changes:
- Made hip checks ineffective to prevent exploit
-Call interference on medium hits more strictly
-Make poke check radius slightly larger
These tuners don't really do that much, I just wonder when they'll actually release a patch. How long does it take to release a patch for a game? This is the longest it's ever taken for any game I've ever played. Even games where I never noticed any problems with it, still had patches sooner than NHL did.

It has to go through Microsoft and Sony before we get it. All of EA's games this year have been slow on the patch.
While there were some very weak interference calls being made, it's actually bad that they turned them down since they didn't tweak other penalties upward. The bad calls were partly making up for the fact that there are far too few penalties being called overall.
It seems to be a theme with EA this year. Madden, FIFA, and NHL all suffer from a lack of fouls/penalties.
I fear the more they screw with this game the worse it gets... Frustrating that someone from EA isn't here more often to communicate with us... But penalties on this game are a mess... It's one thing to make this game, but I wonder if anyone actually spends time in testing mode to see how it actually plays over the course of time...

seems like they use very basic feedback, then tweak their numbers under the hood a bit and that it. so frustrating that my favorite sport only gets made by these guys.
EA has been so slacked this year in the patches... NCAA is still waiting for a decent patch... it's a shame considering how good a lot of EA Sports games were last year, and this year there are little bugs all over the place.
All I do with the NHL games is play EASHL with some friends on Friday nights, and sometimes other nights of the week. This game is absolutely frustrating as hell. I've been playing EAs NHL games since they game out, and have played and been around hockey my entire life... and this game is way off.
Again, EASHL is all I play or have time for, so I can't tweak any sliders or anything like that, I'm forced to play what EA forces me to play. The speed of the game is way too high, the teammate AI is ********, and might as well not even be on the ice, pucks go right through my player when I am in perfect position to intercept the pass (and yes, my awareness is up there), my team is being matched up with League Championship teams even though we're hovering around .500, goalies are laughable, and above all, glitchers still rule.
It's just a joke. I wish I wouldn't have bought it, truth be told.
I'll admit, guys... I'm a bit surprised by the kindly put negative feedback on this game. No one here is trying to be mean about it, but this title is going downhill. Why do I feel like we have some smart people here who watch a lot of hockey and understand the concepts we want to see from a real game incorporated into this title, yet EA never seems to see it that way?... It's a shame...

The game will never be what the hardcore fans want it to be and if that's what anyone's hoping for, you might as well stop playing now. It will always be a balancing act between realism and arcadish. I'm not disapointed in NHL 12 really. It's too much like the previous games, which for the most part I have enjoyed enough to get my moneys worth at least.

bc im not sure those guys even watch hockey and take notes on what they can make better etc. you never see any blogs showing real clips and then how it works in their game etc. they never comment on nothing from an actual nhl game!! heck, they havent commented on anything really for a long while now.
I only play 1v1 online and the game is not that fun for me this year. I havent played in a week just kind of waiting on a tuner set and this is what they come up with? Pretty disappointing.
I want to see more loose pucks. The stick lift is still comedic and checking will rarely seperate the puck from the puck carrier. If the attacker doesn't get hit to the ice he will keep the puck on his stick.

This may be the single most confusing post you have made, and that may be saying a good bit.
So, because they haven't gone all Shanahan for you, they don't know what they are talking about?
Your trolling has been amusing up until this point, because you normally at least attempt to back your statements up with something resembling evidence. Please do not continue this line of thinking on these forums, as it is not appreciated, or tolerated.
They need to fix the goals that can always be scored on from the face off circle on the goalies right. EVERY shot the CPU takes from there, goes in the net. It's so frustrating when you're having a good game, and the CPU skates to the face off circle, and no matter your defense, shot goes in.
Has EA "dumbed" down the game this year to a more arcade level?? I still haven't seen this "player specific attribute" thing (Crosby plays like Crosby, etc). Is there a tuner that can possible fix these issues???
