NCAA Football 12 News Post

Hey Everyone,

I’d like to provide everyone with an update on where we are with the two of the main issues with NCAA Football 12. Once I have more information to share, I’ll provide another update.

- No Huddle Issue introduced in title update #2

We’ve identified and fixed the “No Huddle” bug that was introduced in title update #2. Since becoming aware of the issue, we immediately began work on a resolution and this will be released in the next title update. Title Update #3 is currently in our own internal certification process and we’ll provide an update once we make it through the 1st party certification process (Sony and Microsoft).

- Transfer Fails

The team has been working around the clock to identify and address the transfer fail issues that some of you have been experiencing. While we have been successful in addressing many of the transfer fail issues that users who were stuck in “Bowl Week” were experiencing, we are still investigating the other versions of the transfer error. It’s important to let you know that the “Transfer Fail” message is a generic message and could be one of several different issues. We have been reaching out to the community to collect additional information about their Online Dynasties to help us track down and solve these issues. With the number of customizable options available in Online Dynasty, it’s imperative that we get these details in order to replicate the issues. We thank you for your continued support and detailed feedback on the issues at hand.

If you are experiencing a transfer fail issue, and have not done so already, feel free to provide us with the following information here in this thread:

Name of Dynasty:

Console:

Gamertag/PSN ID:

Commissioner's Gamertag/PSN ID:

Number of users in Dynasty:

Exact week/spot where you are stuck:

Date & Approx time of your last transfer failure error (Please try again and provide the info if you don't remember):

When it is failing? (For example, is it when you're trying to upload a game, a team change, or after advancing a week? If it's advancing a week, can you include whether it is when you're advancing to or from your week. For example, advancing to week 7.):

Any special settings in your dynasty (Custom Playbooks, TeamBuilder,
Coaching Carousel, Custom Conferences):

If you're using Custom Conferences, what changes did you make? (Ex. Turning the Big East into a 16 team league):

Do you/can you provide a video link showing off the exactly what you’re seeing on your console? Visually seeing this is huge for the developers.

Please copy and paste the format above in your response so that it's easy to pass along to the team. Thanks in advance.

Thanks,

Justin Dewiel, EA SPORTS Community Manager

If it's advancing a week, can you include whether it is when you're advancing to or from your week. For example, advancing to week 7.): After you finish your game and exit to the online dynasty, it fails on the upload process. No results are recorded and you're forced to exit and lose results.

Any special settings in your dynasty (Custom Playbooks, TeamBuilder,
Coaching Carousel, Custom Conferences): All user teams are teambuilder teams. Custom Conferences are being used. I'll have to go look at this to put everything that we've done in that area. Bowl qualifiers were also changed. The Big Ten gets the Rose and all others were set to Any. The Big East was removed from automatic BCS qualifiers, so there are 3 At Large spots.

If you're using Custom Conferences, what changes did you make? (Ex. Turning the Big East into a 16 team league):see above.

I'll update this when I sign back on there.

What about the custom playbook situation? How some formations are missing and how you can't get rid of some plays/formations from your playbook entirely. Sorry if any information regarding has been posted somewhere else on this board, but I didn't see it around, or in this post.

Favors......lol
NCAA is my favorite video game series ever and it hurts me seeing the game how it is so just send me the game, I'll test it for FREE! That's right EA, you can send me NCAA 13 and I will play it nonstop for weeks on end and do testing for you without costing you a dime. Sounds like a great deal right? Let's make it happen!

I might not take it quite that far, but that's funny. And it is probably my biggest issue.

This may have been mentioned already, but I'd love to see dlineman falling down right away fixed. It makes controlling the dline, which I like to do, kinda impossible.

Why do that when they can charge us 64 bucks to test it..

BTW I was always against people that said that ^^ but after this years fiasco of a game im on board with them.

simply put: because they can. Broke records this year with sales... the key to selling NCAA is to own the exclusive license and hype the game with a bunch of features that everyone has been asking about. Those features do not have to properly work because we all run out and buy the game on release day before we are the wiser. To alter the business model and properly test the game would simply eat into profits.

Also factor in the fact that we are 2.5 months post release and EA doesn't even know how to fix it.... so had they found all these issues out earlier it would have done no good and possibly harmed sales if it leaked that the game's new features don't really work.

i think OS probably has a handful of guys who can do a better job than EA's hired game testers if they even have any.....

reality is we are probably their game testers for free.....they waite for us to report flaws after the game is sold and then make patches based on our complaints

That's a pretty pathetic tactic but hey it's working because every year we get the game and report back to them what needs fixed..

The casual gamer doesn't care if they can score 75 points per game just off of vertical plays alone that is what they love......and EA caters to that group 1st

They don't care that RB's run right into the crowd of defenders instead of away from them....they don't care that QB's can't read defenses or execute option plays correctly because of poor AI awareness.

I mean they have a product that you can see is very close to being great if it only had a brain (CPU AI)

The DL falls down because you're trying to do a power move before you've even engaged anyone on the OL.

I'm not in love with NCAA. I love football and unfortunitly there is no other gaming option for college, so I love playing NCAA because I love football. NCAA is like being stranded on a deserted island with a one legged, no toothed, bald woman......you got no choice.

They cater to this blindly loyal group for no reason. If EA attempted to make the game more realistic this group would STILL buy the game. What else would they play? Personally I cringe every time I see a post complaining about uniforms, dreads, arm bands, how the players look, etc. The graphics ARE FINE!! The game play is what needs to be polished. Defenses need to align to the offenses formations on their own. In zone the nickel back should probably not align to the short side of the field when the offense has 2 receivers to the wide side. If I call 46, the 2 linebackers should probably go to the tight end side if the offense is in 21 personnel. Tendencies need to be incorporated for play calling. This would help the CPU call plays a little more realistically. I fully recognize that many of things could be impossible to do because of programming, lack of development time, or just EA sees no need. But saying the blindly loyal first day buyers would stop buying this game if EA tried to polish game play is not a valid reason to me.

QFT. It is sad but so true. Remember pre-release the official EA line in the weeks of hype was "we aren't allowed to discuss teambuilder yet" and then we get to release and we can see why they "weren't allowed" because nothing had been done at all with teambuilder.

EA was being disigenuous at best.

EA is unwilling or unable to fix the game and the result for the consumer is the same.

Then why do they continue to put out title updates if they are "unwilling ... to fix the game"?

not sure....

I was wondering the same thing.

That seems to be a pretty big issue and it is still in the game. Not sure exactly what TU#2 fixed!?!
(.....and yes, I have seen the patch notes)

# 119 H4wduk3n @ 09/23/11 06:09 PM
They fixed tendencies with *current players* apparently the new issue props up after the offseason where incoming *recruits* tendencies get flipped for some.

# 120 HokieTokie @ 09/23/11 07:24 PM
Tendencies have to be priority #1 for me. Then Option blocking and pitching. Then No huddle and the freezing I haven't experienced.

Also since patch 2 the QB will sometimes randomly throw the ball away.
