NBA 2K12 News Post

NBA 2K11 was in my console for most of the sports gaming season. I’ve probably logged more hours with it than all other sports games combined. While it had its share of issues, the game was fun and for the most part, played a realistic game of basketball. I had high hopes, as I took flight to Novato, Calif., to take a look at NBA 2K12. Did I come away impressed? Read on and find out.

Really unhappy that the feature I wanted most, legends online, is still out. Why?? Is there some sort of legal issue about it or what?

It's a good play but there's not the same emotional level as a similar play in the last 2 - 5 minutes with the scores tight.
I feel what you're saying and I know what you mean, but from my experiences with 2K's in the past (and the 2K12 demo) this is a different problem from what you suggested. It just seems like the "response" scale is a little messed up or glitched. We can see a routine jumper hit in the first quarter by Ray Allen and we can hear an adequate, real life response from the crowd. But a moment later, Ray Allen can finish an exciting drive to the basket while getting fouled and there will then be a very small response from the crowd.

If the crowd was just generally subdued at all action early in the game that'd be one thing. But if they're responding enthusiastically for 85% of the home team's positive plays, only to go nearly silent for a random 15% of plays (which sometimes include dunks and And-1's) then I believe something is awry.

Only thing I really want to know is if there's a real NBA All-Star Weekend in the game this year... Real Dunk Contest, or is it still in the Blacktop mode? I truthfully think Blacktop is the one mode that has stayed the same for a few years now.... I wonder why it's never in the game.. Does it have anything to do with Sony's NBA game having rights to the All-Star weekend?

Great Write up! I can't wait to hear about the shoes. I'm a big shoe head and 2K disappoints me every year with the lack of detail to the small things like headbands etc.. Glad to see they cleaned some of it up. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
