This mode is exactly what I thought it would be plus more. I anticipated the tutorials but I didn't think there would be a mentor. I must say this is very nice. This would definitely be my first mode I go into when I get the game. Here are my predictions for the mentors. I am assuming the mentors will come from the legends list and they don't change but you never know.
  1. Jump Shots –(Jordan). They already said it. Kind of suprised at this thinking it would be Bird here but Jordan probably could do any type of jumpshot needed so I understand why Jordan is here.
  2. Layups and Dunks – I am going Julius Erving here as they could have put Jordan here too but Doc comes up next IMO if they didn't want to put Jordan here again.
  3. Triple Threat – This could be Jordan again sounds like a repeat but I don't see another legend you could put here above him here that uses these moves.
  4. Dribble Moves - Magic Johnson makes the most sense
  5. Post Offense – Hakeem Olajuwon is the first name I think of when I think of post offense second person I think of is Mchale.
  6. Post Defense – Bill Russell has to be here no ifs ands or buts about it.
  7. Off-Ball Offense - To be honest when I see this I think Reggie Miller but I think they have to put Bird here he has to be somewhere else if he is not.
  8. On-Ball Defense – Scottie Pippen pretty simple one here, could be Jordan as well.
  9. Passing and Offense –Magic in my eyes again could be Stockton as well but Magic is the cover man

I'll pass on this one...looks like something I'll mess around with after I done had the game for a good couple of months like late June or July.

I hope Dwight's post game reflects real life. It was really limited last year

1. They could've went with West, Bird, some other guys maybe, but Jordan is a good choice also though.
2. Erving to me is the best finisher all time, Jordan is the better player though but I can see them going with the Doc.
3. You got some legends that could fit here, maybe they'll go with Jordan again, we'll see.
4. Here I would go with Isiah maybe.
5. They went with Hakeem obviously, McHale would've been also a great choice though.
6. This might be Bill, yes.
7. To me the best off-ball offense that I've seen over the course of a career, came from Bird, not only when he was the one the play was for. I'll take LeBron to practice with him...
8. Scottie no doubt, you got other good choices but it'll be Pip.
9. Magic here, Stockton would've been a great choise also.

Great mode here, you can learn easily when you don't know.

They could use Clyde drexler for jabs

# 108 JordanALLDAY1@ @ 09/12/11 10:36 PM
This seems like a cool mode, like both for vets and newbies, like there are some moves in the people who have being playing 2K11 everyday that they may not know how to do, seems cool to me

# 109 JordanALLDAY1@ @ 09/12/11 10:40 PM
I like the new ring around the player to indicate their jump-shot ability

# 110 bballplayer1996 @ 09/12/11 10:41 PM
Not to excited about this but I know i will use it at some point and will finish all of it to see what the surprise is for doing it. Most likely a classic team I'm guessing.

Nice list indeed. I'm guessing that only the 15 official "Legends" will be used as mentors, and no legend will be used more than once.

If I'm right, it'll probably look something like this:

Jump Shots = Jordan
Layups & Dunks = Dr. J
Triple Threat = The Big O, Oscar Robertson
Dribble Moves = Isiah Thomas
Post-Offense = Hakeem
Post-Defense = Bill Russell (Great call there. I might have guessed Ewing)
Off-Ball Offense = Bird
On-Ball Defense = Scottie Pippen (no question here)
Passing & Offense = Magic

seems like the best list, still leaves out Kareem and Wilt for post offense, Ewing for post defense, Stockton for passing and offense, West for jump shots and Karl Malone for post offense or off ball offense... we'll see

This a good addition to the game.

I can't tell you how many friends pissed me off, because they fell for the hype and bought the game, then gave up on it in two weeks because they couldn't win a game on pro difficulty, started crying about how awful and overrated the game was, and followed the herd back to CoD.

Now I enjoy me a killstreak or two every once in awhile, but to the people that think the game itself is awful because you're no good at, please shut the hell up. We disrespect your ignorance.

# 115 ZoneBlitz @ 09/13/11 12:31 AM
This is awesome. It will really help players like me who playnthe game and want to get better. It reminds me of the Czar's videos. What's awesome about this is that I don't have to search the Internet to learn how to play this game.

Awesome 2k. Keep it coming.

# 116 stillfeelme @ 09/13/11 12:45 AM
I'm out here predicting, but I say if you complete the training they will give you some create a legend skill points for doing the training mode. I say this while I have no clue of all the details in Creating a Legend mode. My second guess would be some hidden alternative retro jerseys lol, I have nothing here

# 117 Sundown @ 09/13/11 12:46 AM
Here are my guesses. I've also added possible current players as the Mentoree if they're locked in. Feel free to make corrections.

Jump Shots = Jordan and Bryant
Layups & Dunks = Dr. J and D. Wade
Triple Threat = Oscar Robertson and Carmelo, Lebron, or D. Rose (need a place for the MVP)
Dribble Moves = Isiah Thomas and D. Rose if not Triple Threat, Steve Nash, or Chris Paul
Post-Offense = Hakeem and Dwight Howard
Post-Defense = Bill Russell (or Mutumbo if non Legends are in) and Garnett
Off-Ball Offense = Bird and Ainge (you need someone to get the ball from), and Ray Allen and Rondo (Celtics shooters past and present!)
On-Ball Defense = Scottie Pippen (or Gary Payton as a non Legend) and Lebron (also a small forward), Battier, or Pierce
Passing & Offense = Magic and Kareem (you need someone to pass to), and Jason Kidd and Dirk (since they just won a championship). Can also fit Lebron and Wade here, since both Kidd and and especially Lebron have been compared to Magic.

At first I was thinking something like this but I see the legends being the mentors for all the players for all the training camp skills. They have all those legends so I see 2K taking full advantage of the legends and this is the best way to implement the legends in other areas besides just playing as the teams. You can look at it like this as well, LeBron James in real life has supposedly worked with Hakeem to work on his post game this offseason. Dwight Howard has worked with Hakeem on his post game last year in the off-season, just as that picture shows. Kobe has also supposedly worked with Hakeem on improve his post game in the past. I am not saying the current players should not be mentors I just don't see it not this year.

# 119 Hyperballer21 @ 09/13/11 01:35 AM
Here are my guesses at the Mentors and Men-tees

Jump Shots = Jordan w/ Kobe (confirmed)
Layups & Dunks = Dr. J (best finisher all-time) w/ Lebron (best finisher today)
Triple Threat = Oscar Robertson w/ Melo (very dangerous from this position)
Dribble Moves = Isiah Thomas w/ CP3 (is there a better dribbler in the league?)
Post-Offense = Hakeem w/ Dwight (confirmed)
Post-Defense = Bill Russell w/ KG (everyone knows their relationship)
Off-Ball Offense = Bird w/ Ray Allen (masters of the catch and shoot)
On-Ball Defense = Scottie Pippen w/ Wade (versatile defenders)
Passing & Offense = Magic w/ Steve Nash (both have their own flash)
