NCAA Football 12 News Post

EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

Hope you enjoyed your stay here at OS...

I've personally taken a break from the game. It's not that I'm angry or disheartened, but I'm taking some time off after playing the game for about 3 straight weeks pretty much non-stop. It's a good game, and with the patch and tuner set (alleged), this game will be fairly fantastic. So, I can wait a few weeks and get those hook-ups, then download some rosters, get a new dynasty started, nab a good set of sliders, and be on my way.

Ahh, the art of patience.

Yeah, a little much. I do agree that ben haumiller is annoying in that he always talks about listening to people and doesn't actually care, not to mention lying, but no need to hate...

Sounds like you shouldn't be playing video games. Rage issues and all that.

How would you feel if somebody came to your job at the gas station and talked about you that way?

I don't know if I am enjoying the game, or addicted to Season Showdown more.

Anyways, I am having fun with the game. The two big things I saw in the list of fixes are progression (such as B+ teams the next year are D teams) and the fact that the defense doesn't react to a scrambling QB. They fix these two things and the game is golden to me. Sure I wish they would fix the game where the cpu pass coverage wasn't psychic on AA, but Varsity fixes that.

Yeah thats pretty much my cut off date if a patch isn't out by the time Madden is out then I'm trading it in and definitely not buying NCAA 13 until September or October next year

I really wish that NCAA developers didn't see Madden as a dream job and EA should've kept them two seperate entities with the only common thing between them being draft classes. College football has huge earning potential that they aren't tapping because of a lack of motivation. Shouldn't take two patches to make a AAA game playable on the level intended from Day 1.

It's without a doubt this is hurting EA's image and hopefully quality control will be more in focus with future titles, we can pretend that the suits are happy, but this type of publicity is killing them.

# 509 TheVinylHippo @ 08/14/11 12:48 PM
I'm sure the NCAA team at EA Tiburon will fix some of these issues, and then create an even worse bug through the patch, then that will be patched two months after it has been created.

It amazes me how they always find a way to screw this game up every year. It's actually pretty impressive.

I understand the marketing strategy of them slowly adding new things that we all know SHOULD be in the game. HOWEVER, when you purposely omit stuff from your product, you should be that much more focused on putting out a working product from day one. Something that doesn't require a patch later on. If they were focused on throwing feature after feature into just one game, then I could understand the possibilities for this many bugs. That is unfortunately not the case.

I really think their "making of NCAA 12" has hurt them more than helped. Those who watched the series, and play the game are most likely COMPLETELY turned off from the way they portrayed their "finished and polished" product. If this year was their grand idea to gain a larger fan base I think they have failed. There's no way that anyone could take them seriously at this point in time. Between the lies about the patch, and the lies during their taping when they talked about how much testing they've done. The bugs in this years version are some of the worst in history. They have a TON of work to do, to get back some of the fanbase for next year.

Yeah, because posting on here and asking with politeness is working so well.

Maybe the only way to get the developers to come out of their caves is to attack.

Is this going to fix the named roster bug

This place has been slurping the devs for years and it's gotten us nowhere.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the case. The people that challenge these these people and demand answers (and we should demand - We have a right to know what's going on and not be kept in the dark) usually get banned and all the EA boot-lickers around here carry on. Sycophancy runs rampant around here.

i was loving this game and was quite happy as i wasnt having any problems of freezing etc.I have had it since the week it was released so its been awhile now.But just lately i cant play offline dynasty anymore due to the constant freezing/crashing of the game.im gutted and cant wait to get this patch out,but it needs to be done before madden is shipped, otherwise it will just be used for my draft classes.

Thats not the case at all. The assumptions are ridiculous. People need to provide details of what is or isn't wrong with a game. Those that you see get banned, they get banned for being shortsighted and simply thread bombing (intentionally or not) only to leave the topic in disarray.

Its a maturity thing, people that blast off with no reason backing it have the problems. You can see plenty of people who provide a list of what is wrong with a game and they post just fine on the forums.

If you don't like the forum, why bother visiting it?

Yes, and I'm sure expletive filled rants calling the developers "shaddy characters" is REALLY going to get us somewhere. As I said, it's perfectly reasonable to be upset with their work and criticize that and the JOBS that they do. But when someone actually attacks the developers as people, that truly gets us nowhere and even makes the community seem less credible.

Shenanigans.

All the b*tching at this point really doesn't matter - bottom line, I paid the money, and it's not coming back. I made the choice to spend the money, again on day 1, even though every year there are issues. Most years I'm able to play and enjoy the game with the problems that come with it, but this is the first year since NCAA 05 that I've actually put it away.

Partially, it's my fault because things don't change - history says that there are issues with the game every year which prevent me (maybe not you) from starting a dynasy. I always want to have the newest, shiniest college football game the moment it's available, because college football is what I love. But if I had any sort of patience, I would wait til these things get sorted out before forking out $65.

Here's my outlook: we're about 60 days away from NBA 2k12, COD, and BF3. NCAA 11 has issues, but for me I can play it without throwing the controller (again, it has shortcomings, and you may hate it - that's ok). Plus, I'm always a year behind with Madden, so I've actually enjoyed using my NCAA draft class with Madden 11. So, I spent my money, but I have other things that I enjoy that fill my time. And if the patch/tuner does not change the game the way I'm hoping for, then I'll move on, and hope that I'll be stronger come July 2012.
