Oh wait... I get it. I put two and two together. You're from Dallas and all these other Witten supporters and Gates detractors have Cowboys stuff as avatars and what not. Ah... silly homerism blinding the obvious.
One word. W A D E...........

At any rate I'm not from Dallas and I'm no fan of bad football. Such as the garbage that Dallas put on display last season. I have however stayed at a Holliday Inn and that makes me an expert on my own opinion......

I like Gates, I really do, but 99 overall? Eh. Not so much.

Totally agree with the last post. No player should really be a "99", leave that stuff for MUT. Mid-90's is the perfect spot for the elite players. Leaving the low 90's - high 80's for the really good players, etc.

OVR rating is worthless to me. I only care about positional ratings. The sad thing is, individual ratings are manipulated to alter the OVR [be it up or down.]

P.S. @ANDROMADA 1 next time you play BF: BC2, please try picking a class that can actually help your team instead of recon .

No way Gates should be 99 overall.

I agree with the fact that no player should be a 99 OVR right now. 99 OVR's should be for all time, hands down great players, like Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Joe Montana, etc. However, individual ratings and the physics system don't work well enough for this to work.

What I want is that if I create Barry Sanders, and give him 99 agility, 99 acceleration and 99 juke move, as he should have, he should be able to make cuts and change directions with little loss of speed as he can in real life. He should be able to make defenders look dumb. However, with the game engine as it is, Sanders wouldn't stand out as much because other players could do these things, like anybody with 99 speed and good acceleration.

The best system would be one where, if you had all the player names removed and randomized on to teams, you could tell who you were playing with, because the system reflects his ratings that well.

Baloney, I don't agree with every player being a 99 on the Pack "just because they won the SB,", but winning 3 games on the road before the SB and smoking the Falcons on the road doesn't deserve a 99?

How did Arod go from a 99 last year do a 98 this year? Maybe you can explain that one.

I agree Manning should be a 99 too.

# 89 Patriots1996 @ 07/19/11 06:59 PM
Why isn't Manning on this list? If he can make a mediocre offense into one of the best, he deserves a 99. Also, where is Andre Johnson? He is STILL deserving of a 99. Brady is about a 97.

Really, did you see the disabled list from last year?

Jermichael Finley, Ryan Grant, Nick Barnett, Morgan Bell, Brandon Chiller, Justin Harrell, Spencer Havner, Brad Jones, Derrick Martin, Mike Neal, Marshall Newhouse, Brady Poppinga, Anthony Smith and Mark Tauscher.

Finley was the #1 receiver going into the year, so, everyone had to make adjustments to Finley and Grant's injury and the above others.

Backups and second/third stringers the rest of the way.

James Starks anyone?

I can not have a scale like yours for rookies. Some rookies really shine in their first year , and with your scale that would never happen.

Ratings should be position specific also. I also feel there are way too many ratings in this game for players.

i've Heard of this one guy his name is Nnamdi Asomugha. Just a less tested than Revis. QBs already know not to pass it near Nnamdi. Jussst Sayinnnnn.

# 95 SteelerSpartan @ 07/19/11 10:24 PM
I want the ratings stretched out again as well

# 96 Candyman5 @ 07/20/11 12:06 AM
Tom Brady and maybe Revis.
Polyoverated and Gates should not be 99, maybe 90-95. Ed Reed IMO is beter than Poly and I hate the Ravens D but I don't think he should get a 99 as well.

Should be:
Brady-99
Revis- 97-99
Poly- 95
Reed- 97
Gates- 89-90

*Shaked head*

If I see Ray Lewis 90+ I'm really going to lose it.

Sent from me, duh.

As far as the ratings go you can find very low overall players that are beastly in some individual aspects. There seems to be these types of players in every Madden.

haha, I use all the classes, recon just looks the coolest. My favorite is engineer(I love rolling the tanks)

# 98 menglish20 @ 07/20/11 06:00 AM
They're all overrated. They're all very talented but none of them are worthy of 99s. Revis is probably the best of them all, and is IMO the best of his position. Brady feels like a product of his system. He runs it perfectly, but I think once he has a few lesser games this season he'll drop. Polamalu is excellent and a game changer, but hardly a 99. Gates is a great TE but Witten is hands down the best TE in football. I'm an Eagles fan and I'll admit it.

The need for mass re-ratings is why we should demand roster share.

# 99 Exonerated @ 07/20/11 08:23 AM
All overrated.

in fifa 11.

highest rated player: messi at 91. then ronaldo at 89.

let the rest lay where they fall.

Since we can change the ratings to whatever we want, I see arguing over them to be pointless...however, with that said I'd like to chime in on the Brady vs Manning debate with my opinion:

Ratings are entirely based on the previous year, right? So I don't see how anyone can say Manning was better than Brady last year. Manning has that HORRIBLE 3-game stretch, while all Brady did was throw 4 picks the entire regular season. Brady was MVP for a reason, and he was better than Manning LAST YEAR.

There are years when one tops the other. Manning was the better QB in 06, and was a Super Bowl MVP. Brady was better in 07, and threw 50 TD's. They are both the top 2 QB's in the league, and on the all-time top ten list. YMMV. But I just dont see why anyone would think Manning was better LAST YEAR.

It was mentioned that Brady is a product of Belichicks system. Playing in a good system does not make a qb any more accurate, it doesn't make them automatically read a defense. A great QB is a great QB. Same for Peyton...when he's playing with joes off the street, he finds a way to win. When Moss was jettisoned, Brady found a way to win with 2 rookie TE's and an aging receiver past his prime. Both are great and seem to top each other every other year. This year, I agree with Brady higher than Manning.

And my last point: to the guy who said Manning was perhaps the greatest and most cerebral QB of all-time...yes, he's very smart and a good play caller. Unitas called his own plays too. And as for being perhaps the greatest? Joe Montana says "hi", and asks that you call him when Peyton goes 4-0 in Super Bowls with 0 picks and 3 SB MVP awards. Oh, wait...he can't do that. And neither can Brady, for that matter.

Sorry for the rant
