Fight Night Champion News Post

Fight Night Champion title update #2 details are in. Look for it to arrive on June 28th for both 360 and PS3.

Fixed One-Punch Knockouts
  • Pretty self-explanatory this one. One punch KOs are happening again.
Health and Knockdowns
  • Boxers with low health can now be knocked down without automatically entering the “critical health” stun state.
  • Cumulative punching can, in effect, cause knockdowns without being so predictable.
Locomotion Updates
  • Boxers can now move forwards with their guard up as fast as opponents can move backwards with their guard down
  • Movement speed near the ropes or corners is affected. Makes it more difficult to consistently run throughout the course of a fight.
  • Weave input sensitivity has been improved.
Stamina Updates
  • Long term stamina loss for moving backwards is significantly higher than stamina loss for moving forwards.
  • Short term stamina loss for throwing several punches is more significant.
  • The effect of low stamina on boxer power and toughness is more significant. When a boxer’s stamina bar is low, they are weaker and more susceptible to damage than before.
  • Stamina loss for high output punchers is more significant overall.
Hit Reactions
  • Tweaked hit reaction strength such that punches to the body do not offset opponent punches as drastically.
  • Reduces the instance of what some users felt were, “forced misses”.
Judges Scoring
  • Judging logic tweaked to favor clean, effective punching more than previously.
  • In general, most judges will favor the boxer who lands fewer, more significant punches over the boxer who lands higher numbers of less significant punches.
  • Big punches and stuns have a bigger chance of swinging a round in favor of a boxer.
Legacy Mode
  • Fixed issue where game would sometimes hang when attempting to import created fighters into Legacy Mode.
  • Alternate Weight Class DLC boxers can be imported into Legacy Mode. So can George Foreman.
Fixed the Online Leaderboards Cheat

OWC Match-Up Logic
  • Prioritizes match-ups been boxers with similar OVR ratings.
  • Matchups between boxers with too large a difference in OVR will not be made (no more hunting for easy fights).
  • OWC Boxer Ratings have been balanced so that new boxers aren’t at as big a disadvantage starting out.
Offline Gameplay
  • Rolled back a subset of previous tunerset updates that were adversely affecting offline gameplay difficulty.
  • Improved the effect of Offline Gameplay Sliders for Punch Accuracy and Punch Output (as much as possible).

No mention of the swelling!!! This better get fixed, it's the most basic thing they screwed up, along with 1 punch KO's, and it's just not a realistic game if the guy's face is getting pounded and there is no swelling at all. The fact that, to my knowledge, they have never admitted a problem or a change with the swelling, and no mention now it bewildering to me.

Thanks for the update.

thanx for the update

this is their last chance for me, if I'm not satisfied with their changes I'm done with the game for good, not that it matters as they already have my money...

Many of your impressions will determine whether I pick this up on the cheap again.

I'm a little apathetic. Father's Day was kind of the point of no return for me. My wife, after months of watching me pull my hair out, said, "Why don't we get you a new game for Father's Day." Long story short, we picked up a used copy of GT5 last Sunday. I have spent 4 glorious days playing an unbroken game and not thinking at all about the upcoming tuner/patch for FNC. I guess feedback on the tuner/patch and slider sensitivity post patch will determine if I even pick this game up again. And honestly, I can't believe I am actually typing this because I love this game and boxing, and I thought I would never give up hope. However, playing another game that didn't have the issues that FNC has really changed my perspective. Hopefully they fixed everything (not hopeful on damage) and maybe after a few weeks of hearing good things, I'll try it out again. But for now, the 28th is just...Tuesday.

No mention of cab problems, nothing about the lack of swelling, and I guess they are leaving in straights turning to hooks at a distance where hooks cannot land? Should only happen on body punches to begin with. The 6 inch cross is 1 of the most deadly punches in boxing, why did they take it out? I sure hope this is just the short list and not all that they are doing with the patch, I'm pretty disappointed.

Well the pulling out of previous tuners should bring back swelling and blood. other wise it seems like a good patch we will have to wait and see.

This sounds like a pretty solid patch. If it does what they say and fixes damage, i'll be happy.

No mention of the freezes on the PS3. No matter, it's too little to late. I traded mine in on NCAA12 while it still had value.

I'm going to hold off on playing it until the 28th. As they mentioned, they rolled back the tuners and stamina is way off again.

I seriously think because this was the first time they introduced tuners they just made a mess with this game. Not to mention this upcoming patch will be the last as you rarely see a game get 3 patches. Maybe we'll see tuners in the future but as far as the patch goes, this will be their last shot at making things right.

I hope the patch saves the game, but saving this series may be like this:

Tough call on this. To me it all hinges on the multiple punch aspect of this patch. You're almost forced to back off a spam jabber. If the body spam is still exploitable and moving backwards causes quicker depletion of stamina then I think it will absolutely destroy online play. Spam jabbers moving forward could equate to 1200-1300 punch counts with a full bill of health going into the final two rounds. I'm not real thrilled with the prospect of that.

all my same points as well, can we say "false advertising" because the online manual clearly states we can save 97 boxers.

No mention of "Authentic Brutality" (i.e cuts/swelling) returning to offline...I sure hope it's there after the tuner updates are rolled back. I'm not an EA-basher, as I've long been a fan of their games, but I've never felt so blatantly cheated on a video game purchase. You don't advertise something as a main selling point in your product only to take it out. That would be a major legality issue in just about any other industry.

Damn man I never even thought about that. But if I remember correctly they said that they are going to fix the jab spamming issue in one of their articles. I believe they are completely aware of that issue (i hope). Jab Spamming is one of my biggest complaints. Its not as effective anymore since the last tuner, but players are still try to exploit it. ANother thing too is they did say that players who like to run will gradually lose stamina through out the fight and players who throw a number of punches will tire faster. Most Spammers accumulate a large amount of punches and they like to run. I hoping this patch will be the demise of Jab spammers. But one will never no until tomorrow.

this will be the key whether multiple punchers will truly be rewared or hurt. jab as a basic punch shouldn't take away much stamina , but when it becomes in excess 4-8 punches stamina should dip as if they threw three hooks or uppercuts.

As it stands right now, with whatever "ninja tuner" they seem to have implemented, damage-per-punch is WAYYYYYYYYYYYY below where it should be. It's nearly impossible to get a KO right now against someone who knows what they're doing. I'm gonna reserve my judgement until after the patch drops. Here's crossing my fingers...

# 19 Flexxnyc @ 06/27/11 11:30 PM
I never had problems with the jab spammers until they got rid of 1 punch ko's. Those guys typically dont have good defense. Now that its back I dont see these guys as a problem anymore.

# 20 DaveDQ @ 06/27/11 11:49 PM
It's going to be interesting seeing one punch KOs back. From what I understand, they had to roll the previous tuners back to what was out of the box in preparation for the patch. When the patch hits they will apply a tuner. I'd like to see jab spammers getting knocked out because of continued punches.
