No more conference invites. You'll have to make your own conference changes. I think the reason for this is simply that since they are allowing people to do their own custom conference setups, people might be upset if they also programmed in all kinds of automatic invites for teams that would scramble that, so they're just leaving it up to the player. Probably would have been nice as an ON/OFF feature.

I personally am glad they are going at it this way. In my WKU dynasty, in the first five years I was invited to the B1G two times, and kept denying it due to there was noway my team could compete in that conference that quickly.

Skill positions, I would like them to try to pick up the fumble depending on their ratings, like carry rating or something. Linemen how ever should always fall on the ball.

# 24 Watson @ 06/11/11 08:04 PM
wow, the game itself looks amazing

What is the LG doing at the :43 mark? He clearly sees the guy coming, even looks like he's setting up to block, and then engages the DE. This allows a free rusher right up the middle. You always protect from the inside-out. The user controlled player would have had a free rush from the outside, but that's what you give up when you find yourself outnumbered like this. It's the QBs job the realize the blitz is coming, there aren't enough blockers to pick them up, and get rid of the ball quickly. If you let a guy free up the middle the QB has almost no chance.

Why does every player try to pick up fumbles, especially the offensive players? These guys should fall on the ball the majority of the time. I loved it last year whenever I'd fumble and one of my linemen would instantly scoop up the ball with ease and take off running. That's so stupid looking it usually made me want to turn off the game. EA, please, make these guys fall on the ball most of the time.

I won't comment much on anything else because the varsity difficulty prevents it from any kind of real analysis. A lot of bad things are going to happen because of the difficulty. But guys not getting in on a tackle they were in position to make, backwards blocking philosophy, and players not diving on the ball shouldn't be difficulty related.

As far as positives go, a lot of the new solo tackle animations look nice. There's also a nice double-hit at the 4:55 mark.
you do know that is not a final build right?

And Ben just stood there blatantly staring right at it. I hope he sees that needs to be fixed

# 28 sarlndr @ 06/11/11 08:50 PM
^^ LOL! He sure did just stand there. Hopefully it will be fixed as these are the little things that annoy me. Other then that the game looks really good. I can't wait to get my hand on the demo to try it out.

I would think it's pretty close to the final build seeing that the game probably goes final in about 3 weeks. Not to mention, many of the things I talked about have been in the game for years. I doubt 3 weeks is going to make a difference. But who knows? Maybe it will.

That doesn't mean the build at E3 was current as of E3. It was most likely weeks old, at least.

If it helps, there was a glitch were Tony Romo came out twice during the Cowboys entrance in Madden. Phil said that was already fixed before E3.

I was on my phone earlier and couldn't really comment but I will say this:

Considering this is on varsity the CPU offense did a pretty great job moving the ball. As already said, the CPU rb logic seems to be 1,000x better this year which is a big relief.

Restating that I like seeing the game run on the PS3. It looks good, the lighting and helmets looked pretty nifty just like on the 360. Hard to tell from videos, seems like the 360 version might be a bit more detailed but it clearly looks good enough on the PS3.

The presentation stuff really doesnt bother me because honestly I skip that stuff anyway. I understand the concerns though and maybe they will fix it before going gold.

I agree with Khalib the next thing that should be worked on is WR aggressiveness. You don't see jump ball scenarios nearly enough in the games in my opinion. Yeah, you do see it, but I think 1 out of 5 times I run a goal line fade it ends up looking like one.

I've never seen someone so impressed by a bottle of water before. I liked the vid a lot does anyone know if the "Predator" formation is specific to Cal's playbook or is that new for the generic 3-4 D? I primarily use the generic 3-4 and I've never seen that one before

# 33 The JareBear @ 06/11/11 10:43 PM
Correct me if I am wrong but predator was in Madden 11 and is a default 3-4 PB formation now

# 34 smace767 @ 06/11/11 11:06 PM
A few forms of the predator are in NCAA 11 in the 3-3-5 playbook. 3-3-5 spread and i think its 3-3-5 46. The OLB dont put their hands down but they are still basiclly playing DE on that side and line up on the line of scrimmage.

With great LBs and a good Dline the 3-3-5 worked really well as a base vs users, and even the zones covered were a little better because you could drop 7-8 or send 4 or 5 from different places and still get that little confusion and hesitation to make a play on defense.

You think the E3 build was "at least" weeks old? I don't have anything to prove you otherwise, but I would bet the build was more recent than that. E3 is where they showcase the game to the media, videos pour over the internet, and people give their hands-on impressions of the game. Seems like EA would have brought the most recent, most polished version they possibly could. I'm sure it's a week or two old, but I would seriously doubt it would be any older than 2 weeks. I could be wrong though.

In any case, you're talking about fixing glitches in cutscenes. I'm talking about player AI, collision systems, and animations. Those are things that I would think would be way more difficult to change with the amount of time left.

Again though, I don't want to give too much attention to this video because of the varsity setting. There are a lot of things that concern me in the video, but I'm not going to form any long-lasting opinions from it. Honestly, I'm trying to avoid forming any opinions about this game until I at least get to play the demo. Half of the gameplay is how it feels. Obviously, we won't know how it feels until we get to play it.

Technically, the guy who rides Traveler the horse and the guy who has the sword at midfield are different. You don't see both on the field at the same time. The guy with the sword should have the band behind him, actually. I don't think Traveler ever runs on the field.

he does but never at mid field. And you are correct on the other accounts. I don't expect EA to do all that but at least don't have Traveler rise up with Tommy on him then not even have a cut scene between him just standing there

I don't think I meant to quote you. I don't know. I was referring to the Trojan horse thing. Not AI issues.

I did say weeks, That could mean 2 or 3, I just know it was't a build from days before the event. They have to do extensive testing to make sure its presentable.

One concern I have: Ben said that if you are the coordinator, then you only control your side of the ball, and then he said the other side will just sim until it's your turn to run your side again.

What this tells me is if I am an OC, then when the defense is on the field I won't see any of it??? I want to be able to see the defense play the game and actually use that time as well to think about how the D is playing against me, review from my notes what is working, etc... Tell me they won't sim everything if you are an OC or DC... please tell me they will give us the option of having the game play out for us to watch.

# 40 moylan1234 @ 06/12/11 02:21 AM
it's been said over and over that if you choose to be a coordinator you have the option to either sim or watch from the broadcast cam angle when your side is off the field
