It feels so incomplete. I haven't heard one new line by Chris except the intro. If they recorded the end of games, we would probably hear more of the DPP lines. I just can't believe they would go to all the trouble to upgrade the presentation, then have the commentary sound as if they are both half asleep, saying one line every 30 seconds of play. They admitted in Gus' first year, they could only do main data like names and ball position. So you would think with the same effort this year, they could have created many more lines that what we are hearing. Not only that, but he didn't even say some of the names, like Ryan Mundy, just the #. Then like I said for Tony Romo's line, it wasn't even a complete sentence or even coherent.
Like I've already mentioned, the #'s thing was the same as last year,so I don't know why it surprises you so much...even before Gus when Tom Hammond did the announcing...it was "he hands off","he made the catch" or "the tackle was made by #43".

I think I'll play Madden again to make sure, but I am almost positive he said Troy Polamalu. He even said something like "The Tazmanian Devil Troy Polamalu." I don't think he ever used a #, or at least a # and not say there name. He might have said #7 Ben Roethlisberger, but never #7 throws a pass. So, again, not sure why Gus would regress. I know for Mundy in this years game he said #29, so I think I will go back to Madden 11 and see if he says his name.
As for small details, I'd like to reiterate how much flak jackets complete the look for the quarterbacks. I'm really glad they got these in. The player models look outstanding this year.

I'm not saying he didn't use "nicknames",nor did I say he said "#7 throws a pass"
I DID say Gus would say things like "he drops backs,he throws, "he catches it at the 29 yrd line"......or "he makes the tackle at the 29"
When I made the reference to the #'s,it was more towards Hammond, who used both #'s and "he" damn near all the time. While Gus does use names more than Hammond did,it's still nowhere where it should be....Gus is the "he" man.
Game looks great, once again very glad to see it running on the PS3 and looking good. Great job EA...if you're out there, you have made a skeptic into a believer in me.
Ask him if they will be fixing the player introduction stat overlay to show all the starters on offense and defense..
Thanks!
I hear you CH, but as Thinking Out Loud said in the thread below, the intent sounds like they were to show the star players of the game and one that stood out.
Even yesterday, in a video, Phil said here are the key players for the game and one player that should stand out.
I agree with TOL that the intent wasn't to show the starters, but to show some nice presentation.
I didn't like how on the second play of the game, the corner to the short side of the field, completely rotated over to the FS spot, telegraphing the overload blitz from the wide side of the field. I like how the play unfolded, with the LB buzzing out to take away the curl, but I hope the option to disguise coverage and use shells is there, because that one was a little too obvious.
4:53 mark -- the play that was the sack. The play looked good with the pre-snap mugging the LOS, but I don't like how Gurode, who is one of the better centers in the league picks up the blitzing safety, then gets flat out beat in a pass rush. Usually, if a safety is going to make that sack up the middle, he's only going to do it if he comes clean, or if the center is a step late. Here, it looks like Gurode picked him up perfectly.
THey should probably change the banner to say "Players to Watch" or something rather then the way they currently have it. A screen wash comes across that says "offense" or "defense".
This isnt a huge deal or anythig but it seems like a pretty easy fix and would make it much more realistic IMO.

That just makes you go, wth
Makes no sense to do that when your trying to mimic a real broadcast....you show the whole lineup and then have have a
"Keys to the Game" Segment....
I mean these are the things that just annoy the heck out of people.....this just seems like such an easy thing to get right if you watch the game much at all
This is how I envisioned Madden's presenation looking when they first started on the 360. The tackling looks way better too with less pin bowl tackles and more conscutive hita. Glad they have belatedly showed a little promise.

Depends on how far they want to mimic the broadcast.
In the video referencing Phil, he grabbed the mike and said, This is EA sports, not CBS sports.
I think they want to distinguish themselves as their own brand.
ummm... why is stephen mcgee running on the field for special teams kickoff and he is the 3rd stirng QB. and tony romo ran out there with the team the first time than they show him in the tunnel by hiself. This kind of stuff gets to me.

what....no sports broadcast team in real life would just skip out on Full Player Lineups to "distinguish" themselves
Do an additional slick "Keys To the Game Feature" if you want to put your own take on something .....The Rundown/showing of the full Lineup for the teams is a standard and should be shown
