Awesome. To be honest this alone might make me change my mind on buying the game, even if they don't fix the problems I had with it last year.

This is going to be the first NHL game for me where I can officially play as my hometown team. I can't wait.

You CAN play as your hometown team now. What, no love for the Moose?

Actually, all kidding aside, I hate to admit it but I probably will pick it up for that reason alone...playing against the Atlanta Thrashers next season will just feel weird even though in my second year of BeAGM on NHL11, they won the Stanley Cup. Maybe a good omen for the Winnipeg club in NHL12?

Go Jets Go!
Already started a franchise with creating the Jets and then transferring all the Thrashers to the team. Play in the same division, which they will.
Awesome!!!

No, I did use them. I just meant an NHL team.

This is what I'd love to do but I don't have NHL 11 anymore. Guess I have to settle with 10 for now, lol.

Now is the NHL going to do division realignment for the NHL 2011-12 season? Obviously it makes no sense to have Winnipeg in the southeast division. Probable realignment would be:
Winnipeg - from Southeast to Northwest
Minnesota - from Northwest to Central (back in the "Norris Division")
Nashville - from Central to Southeast

The other question is if the NHL does immediately realign divisions for next season, will EA be able to make the adjustment in time as well? I would assume yes, but remember it will take time to recode the program for conference and division realignments...

nice. Winnipeg was one of my favourite teams in NHL '96.

They're not re-aligning this year. Winnipeg takes Atlanta's place in the Southeast division with no other changes in the league. Next year they re-align.

I figured they would do this since they sent a fix out when Seattle moved to Oklahoma City for NBA Live.

As a Portage boy an hour west of Winnipeg, I'm happy to hear this. Although I am in the minority, i want a new name. the Jets sucked, let's start fresh. I'm sure they will be named the jets, and if tehy do, I hope they have better uniforms and logo. It was always the most boring/unimaginative set around.

I don't think they'll go with the same name or jersey.

The realignment you mention John, is what I'm hoping really happens. I think BNG is right though. That for next season, Winnipeg will play in the Southeast division for 2011-12.

As a Wild fan...I'll miss the team being in the Northwest. But it would be pretty cool to be back with the Blackhawks, Blues, Redwings, etc...

Wow, never even thought to move MIN to the Central. I was thinking COL, but I like MIN moving to the Central better (and probably makes more sense, I'm not TOO well versed in my geography outside of the East coast ).

Glad this is confirmed so quickly.

I think I'm going to skip this year. Nothing personal, that's just my policy... well, I guess it is personal, then. Then I'll pick up NHL 13 when the realignments happen and Phoenix is moved somewhere else too. Ha!

Welcome back Winnipeg.

I never thought hockey and Atlanta went together anyway.

So what if they allow realignments in NHL 12, still gonna skip it?

Yeah, that's my policy (or what I'm getting into the habit of doing) these days. Buy the new sports games every other year. I cheated getting NHL 11 this year, but I wanted to try it out for the first time coming over from NHL 2k10.

Madden 10 to Madden 12 this summer.
MLB 09 to MLB 11
NHL 11 to NHL 13

It allows me to play through multiple seasons (or at least get very deep) in my franchises, save 60$ for every game I skip, and I get a double dose of improvements to the game instead of a roster update, a few minor tweaks here and there, and a couple new back of the box features.

I'd suggest trying it out.

I try to do this as well. In addition to the reasons you mention, the other perk is not have to spend time on sliders or learning new controls.

I think you've got yourself a pretty decent plan going Slickdtc.

Myself, I only buy a couple sports games a year. So my willpower to skip years is very weak.

I thought about this too, Savoie.

This would certainly be a welcome feature for '12'. And would really be a neat addition to the game, period. Imo...the more customization, the better.

But maybe we better wait till the scheduling problems they currently have get straightened out.

I created Winnipeg Jets in NHL11, at my Be a GM Mode Winnipeg plays in Northwest Division, Nashwille in Southeast Division and Minnesota in Central Division. What i think will in reality happen.
