NCAA Football 12 News Post

IGN posted a story today detailing some of the additions to Dynasty mode in NCAA Football 12.

The biggest change seems to be the ability to create a coach and move up the coaching ranks. Many folks have been begging for a "coaching carousel" in this series, so this addition seems like it should make a lot of people happy.

Quote:
...EA and Tiburon have responded and given players the ability to create their own coaches from scratch. You can modify looks, set ages and even pick an alma mater. Save these changes, and you can share them with the world and every mode in your game.

That stuff might sound cosmetic, but it plays into the cool changes in Dynasty mode. When you start, you can choose to go be the head coach of whatever school you like, but the real challenge is taking on one of the new offensive or defensive coordinator slots and working your way up to running an entire team. Yes, this year you can be one of the assistant coaches and manage just one side of the ball for entire games. Do well, and the shot at a head coaching job might pop up.

The story also mentions some details about Online Dynasty mode, including confirmation that you will be able to simulate online dynasty games from your computer.

If you're a more visual person, IGN has also posted a video preview detailing these changes.

On a level beyond the additions themselves, the biggest change this year just seems to be the ability to customize the experience to your liking. The folks at EA Tiburon have been relatively rigid when it comes to customizing players, leagues and so forth, but the shackles seem to be coming off in both football games now.

More details should be released about this mode and the Road to Glory mode in the near future. The embargo for all media as it relates to these modes lifts on May 23.

I can't see how the even the harshest of internet critics could be unhappy with this news. This is outstanding. I am so excited right now...unbelievable.

Exactly. No offense/defense ratings, so a Rich Rod style guy will have a high prestige but not be a detriment to the defense. As I said a month ago, I'm fine with this, but I'm SHOCKED there's no outrage over this, since everyone basically told me off when I said it would be like this.

I want to know if people can save their conferences and somehow post them for other people to download. Kind of like how rosters are done now.

I won't change anything. I'll keep it real. I'm just wondering can you change it every year in the dynasty or just in the beginning when setting the dynasty up?

I doubt there is a playoff option, but if there was then I'd want to add FCS teams.

The first tab is Bio and the other two tabs have the O and the D logo which most likely means Offense and Defense. Unless you can rate the ratings for a coach on that side of the ball, which would be awesome, then they don't appear to be in.

And the prestige is really a rating. I mean sure it helps that coach recruit better, but thats where it stops. So, coaches will have impacts if that is what it does, but that's where it looks to end.

Hopefully they build on this so we'll have coaches that are great recruiters, but can not get any success on the field. Or there is the coach is can't recruit, but he gets players to play above their potential. Or the guy who is average all around.

Ehh, yeah I see what you mean, but the rankings will keep the upper echelon teams from hiring coaches with a C, D, F prestige. The rating may not directly affect the team, but it should keep the hirings as realistic as possible for each position on each team.

Is it for sure confirmed that this will be in online dynasty?

At 1st I was worried about not getting coaches ratings then I watch the video(is there audio for the video or is it my phone?)and seeing that coaches page was one of 3 considering how much was on that one page that there's some minor ratings for coaches.

I wonder if they are in the game? Probably not because of the amount of them, but wasn't Western Kentucky in the year before they officially joined the Sun Belt? Could be wrong there, but would love to be able to add all the teams for future realigment in 2012.

If they add the ability to edit players/recruits in dynasty than then it would just be an A+ effort in regards to dynasty this year.

Ah I see what you mean. I hope they build towards that in the future, but for the first year I'm pleased with what is included.

I see too, but there is already way more in this year than I thought would be - I'm just happy right now to be honest with you.

If you think about it, the players rankings are what contributes to the team's success. The best rating could do for coaches would be recruiting, maybe with a higher rating better play calls when the comp sims games? I think the rating of the coaches is being looked into too deeply.

That's cool. Glad they put it in. I will temper my excitement till I see how it's implemented. I can't wait to try it.

Once you play College Hoops 2k8 you will see how big of an impact coach ratings have. A coach can make or break a program in real life and in 2k8. It may hurt recruiting in NCAA 12 which could bring a program down, but thats where it stops.

There are some coaches in my 2k8 legacy that can get good players, but their schemes are so terrible they leave the team off worse, then there are coaches that have their teams play a lot better than they are. The past few seasons in my legacy The Citadel has played me really tough because of their new coach. Now he has also recruited well and they have the 2nd best team in the conference and I am a little afraid at seeing how that works out. He already has shown he can get teams to play a lot better than they are, so that team he has now should easily challenge me for the conference title.

With this is the ability to edit rivalries as I take it. It would be nice to have dynamic rivalries but you can always go in an edit this and create rivalries. July can't get here any quicker! This is one year where I may be sucked into dynasty mode for the first time in a long time. I might actually take the time to report my dynasties now!
