Madden 12 News Post

IGN has just released quite a few more Madden NFL 12 details, including the ability to change teams in the offseason, tiered scouting system, an eBay style bidding system for free agents and more.

Quote:
  • Dynamic Player Performance: Player ratings fluctuate based on consistency and confidence.
  • Player Roles: More than 20 roles (Playoff Performer, Trench Warrior) affect player and team stats throughout the season.
  • The Pre-Season Matters: Start with 75-player roster and need to make cuts each week. Playing pre-season games reveals player ratings.
  • Scouting Reworked: Tiered scouting system reveals ratings tied to different events (college season, combine, pro day, individual workout).
  • Draft Class Improvements: Robust set of draftees built for 30 seasons of franchise. Teams draft based on their real tendencies.
  • Free Agent Bidding Wars: eBay style bidding against other GMs creates intense, rapid-fire free agent period that takes only a few minutes to complete.
  • Smarter General Managers: Better re-sign and cut logic. GMs make trades and sign free agents who fit their needs, with player roles factored in.
  • Coaches Matter: Coaches have small positive and negative impact on how players perform on the field based on their style.
  • Edit Any Player: Alter the ratings of any player -- rookie, created player, or established veteran.
  • Change Teams: In any offseason, change control of which teams you run in Franchise mode.
  • Numerous Tweaks: Many other small tuning and additions are coming, including retirement logic, a more accurate salary system, fixes to the injured reserve system, better simulation stats, and more.

I mean they announce better scouting, and free agent bidding and everything is better? Let's take a step back everyone. EA has announced things being fixed in the past to no avail. Until I see that the CPU actually drafts better and signs free agents more realistically, I am keeping my money in my wallet.

Don't tell me, SHOW ME.
I understand what you are saying, but I don't think there is a need to temper people's excitement for features they've been wanting for years.

People seemed to like FM on LG, I don't see why they won't with the PS3 and 360.

Well that certainly sounds impressive.....but Im not going to pat them on the back until I know all of this is in the game and functioning well

Please Test this stuff thoroughly...I don't want to have to wait 2.5 months to get big bugs patched

2. When you were playing back then, didn't you have this hope that was like, "OMG! if it's this good now, how good will it be in 3, 5 or ten years!" but yet, here we are celebrating innovations, NAY, things that are just real life NFL things, being added to the game, again.

3. Do you remember the blog videos we had when Ian first came on. Remember WR/DB interaction? So do I. Have'nt seen it in the game yet. Remember realistic momentum? Me too. Do I see it? No.

So like I said. Let's take a step back. Wait to hear how these features like imporved scouting, player roles and such will work. And then after we hear that, let's wait and see if they ACTUALLY do work. and then we can celebrate EA finally giving us what we have litterally been BEGGING for for years.

Let's not forget. This is the same company that gave us the F15 flyovers!......in a dome....
1. No, but I don't cry over spilled milk. It's out of my hands, I had no control over it. And come on, enough of the repackaged stuff talk. There is new areas being added as well. I see where this is going, though.

2. No, again, because I'm not one to think that far ahead.

3. That's game play related, not FM.

I'm not celebrating now until I have the game. If people want to be excited over criteria that's been left out in the game, why not. I don't tell people to not be skeptical of any part of the game, either.

To each their own. It's not for me to tell people what to do when features are announced.

I have been reading a lot of these posts and I too am really excited about Madden 12. I just hope it's as great as everyone thinks it will be because AJ's last line reminded me of who were actually dealing with.

"Let's not forget. This is the same company that gave us the F15 flyovers!......in a dome...." that was hilarious!

Listen, I have been playing Madden since like '92 I am a loyal fan of the franchise. Let me say this, Madden 11 was the biggest piece of **** football game I have ever played. I still play Madden 10 regular with updated rosters and believe it to be a superior game, but I will be buying Madden 12 just like the rest of you. Let's hope we're as excited after we actually play the game as we are right now. By the way I sold my copy of Madden 11 on ebay a month after I bought it last year. I don't want to be doing that this year. That said, I am really excited this year, but we'll just have to see. Game on players..

Yes, let's just act like one company cannot deliver us a good game because of one bad (but hilarious) glitch. More great logic being shown.

I hear you, I've seen posters similar to your posts and their intent was not to encourage people to think.

Just saying.

You win, you're right. This game will be fantastic. EA said these features are in so it must be true that they will work perfectly. I can't wait. Good luck with that. Look forward to your posts in August/Sept.

Better lesson: Don't debate with people that are agenda driven.

Why can't we all just get along? lol....

Anyways, I'm pretty excited of what's been announced, but like many said before me, let's wait and see how it all comes along. Until then, I guess it's safe to rejoice...I'm still sticking to my cautiously optimistic approach.

To quote my favorite movie: "Some people just want to watch the world burn".

BTW solid advice, roadman. Keep fighting the good fight, my man.

Anyways, I was talking about this on Twitter, but hopefully tomorrow they drop info that we can have more than 10 draft picks, future draft picks and/or authentic draft picks (like NHL 11). Player morale/team chemistry would be nice as well.

Dark Knight?

And I yes that would be cool to be able to have more than 10 draft picks. I guess we will find out tomorrow what some of the details are.

Since you asked, yes.

Ok, so what is the big deal about altering a players ratings? I am hoping this is only for offline franchise mode correct?

I never got the appeal of altering someones ratings over doing in game thru performance or whatnot, it just seems like a short cut to me but i may be wrong. Godd news for the rest of it tho!

I wasn't saying the glitch was hilarious. I was saying that being reminded of that after reading all of this was funny. The point is EA couldn't even get that right and that's who we're dealing with. Maybe I should have clarified that for the less apparent audience.

30 yrs old and each year I feel like I was outgrowing Madden cause all I did was complain about whats missing/ect.... But I continued buying and for the first time in a long time I can actually back up my words to my friends and family members who every year I say madden is gonna be great.

Although I have done so for years and years....this is gonna be a truely special midnight madden madness. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game

He wasn't talking to you, though, so no need for the little shot at the end.

They have tuner sets this year, so, if something seems out of place, they can fix some things in a day or two vs a patch.
