NCAA Football 12 News Post

Check out the new NCAA Football 12 blog, written by Roy Harvey, Executive Producer of NCAA Football 12.

Another season is upon us and the countdown begins. Over the next 90 days you’ll be hearing about everything we’ve put into NCAA Football 12 and we hope you’ll like what you’re going to see. It represents months of deep development and the next serious step in innovation that we initiated last year with NCAA Football 11.

I have no major announcements today, but I can say that our focus and fundamental strategy hasn’t changed. It’s still all about the three key elements I described in my blog last year “A New Game Plan”; Core Experience, Authenticity, and Innovation.

The community feedback we’ve received on ’11 through emails, forums, and surveys has been encouraging and I’m happy to report that we’ve incorporated many of these requests into the newest edition.

Starting with the core, we continue to acknowledge and agree that gameplay is what matters most. The engine we share with our brothers on Madden is getting some big upgrades and improvements that we will customize and tune for the right collegiate feel. You can also expect another big push on the defensive side of the ball this year. Other than that, there’s not much more I can say just yet. But please be patient, there are definitely “under the hood” details ahead in the coming weeks.

With regard to authentic presentation, we are making a big push in this area as well because it’s a huge part of what college football means -- the passion, pageantry, and tradition is like no other sport in the world (FIFA comes close…). You may have caught a few of the rough iPhone screenshots released so far, but the better looking stuff is coming in the next few days. Here are a few minor details I can share now for my Michigan brethren. At least in the virtual world I can put them in the Rose Bowl this year.

New Big House stadium lights are also in and ready to go…

Another minor item to start planning for – you’ll be able to fully customize entrance music this year, so get your tracks ready…

Finally, with regards to online, the response to NCAA Football 11’s online dynasty mode has been outstanding, so expect some interesting news here in as we get closer to launch.

In closing, on behalf of the team I’d like to thank all the fans who’ve written in with suggestions and comments. While we can’t possibly get to the thousands of ideas that have come in, we do take your feedback very seriously when designing the game and work to get as much in as time and resources will allow. From big ideas to the little things like dreads, bowl patches, band placement, uniform details, and mascot changes – everything contributes to realism and authenticity – and they all came from you. So please keep the cards and letters coming…

Keep the faith, real news is up ahead!

Roy

I like this part the most. I love that they are trying to have the best authenic presentation(if they have a form of College Gameday they have succeeded to me). I liked how he said that there will be big improvements to gameplay engine. I also loved that he said that there will be "big push on the defensive side of the ball this year".

Yeah I'm glad he said that because I was started to think they weren't listening to the fans at all showing stuff like lighting and pylon physics, today completely changed my mind. You'd think the guy was reading these forums!

I am excited that they are ADDING equipment but what about fixing stuff that is wrong??? How many years are they going to have robot bars on the rb bull facemask? This annoys me so much. They know what they are doing, they are adding stuff exactly how it looks yet they make some of the most blatant mistakes sometimes. Who can we ask to fix that?

Nice to see that TERRIBLE two manned tackle animation made it into the game again this year...

just thought about college gameday in ncaa 12...how do you want it to be look like?
I mean, do you really think it is possible to make a college gameday show with corso and herbstreit talking about the upcoming games?
I think it would be awesome if it will be in the game but I also think it can't be done...

I loved last years game and this blog and the little info we have so far tells me that this game is gonna take another step foward. Can't wait for the big news to come in the next few days.

I wouldnt expect nothing over the top.
I would be glad for a minute long piece where they pick game winners out of 5 teams. and see Corso put on the teams mascot for the biggest game.

Playing as San Jose St. in WAC. Got invited to the PAC-10, they took WAC off the field and didn't put a PAC-10 logo on it. So there goes your theory. Oh and I played about 20 total seasons in NCAA 11 so keep you stupid accusation to yourself junior, but I'm sure you're MLG Pro so my opinion doesn't matter. Nebraska sucks btw.

I'm enjoying these little details b/c I know they all will come together nicely to create a good immersive experience. Now when we get college game day and Coaching carousel its going to be a wrap. (I know i'm being very optimistic)
Actually I'm not thank you very much. They didn't put a PAC-10 logo on my field. And I still have a WAC logo on my jersey. And to seriously think those are "new" plays, you guys are outta your mind. Taking plays that were in Madden and putting them in NCAA and vice versa doesn't count as "new" plays. Feel free to waste $60. I'll save my money and keep NCAA 11.

Why wouldn't it be possible? College Hoops had a weekly highlight show, season preview, and Selection Sunday show.

Or you could just stop. I think we can all be civilized here. You aren't buying the game. Understood. I'm sure no one meant you any harm.

Well you must have gotten a defective copy, because I took Louisiana Tech to the SEC and I've had the SEC logo on my field ever since then.

Moved Nebraska to the big ten. Got the logo. It could be an issue with your team man. No need to get offended. Take it with a grain of salt. But it is working for some of us if not most of us

Good then that means we won't have to wade through your nonsense posts anymore in the forum.

Two possibilities:

1. Adidas won't pay EA enough to put them in the game

OR

2. Nike pays EA enough to keep Adidas out of the game.

It's good to see EA realizes defense (gameplay) needed some work and they dropped a line in this blog to assure those of us worried about that issue that it has been addressed.
