NCAA Football 12 News Post

That’s right NCAA Football fans, bowl patches will be making their triumphant return in NCAA Football 12.

If you have read any of my articles concerning the NCAA Football series over the years, you know that I put a big emphasis on the little details in the game, especially details that were present in the years when the series was flourishing on the PS2 and Xbox in the early to mid 2000s. This small jersey presentation addition blew my mind when I first saw it in NCAA 2002, and it quickly became one of my favorite aspects of the series.

The patches themselves gave each bowl game the feeling that you were participating in something much bigger than a regular season game. Plus, I'm one of those geeks who loves everything about the pageantry and tradition of college football, so seeing the patches in a video game representation of my favorite sport was nothing short of a dream come true.

84 days left and we know that bowl patches are in, dreads are in, HDR lighting is in, pylon physics are in. Releasing info on the finer details of the game.

First gameplay info coming this week and a video.

Don't throw me in the fanboy bus but it looks like they put WORK into this year's game. If they make a jump from 11 to 12 like they did from 10 to 11, this could down as one of those games that is talked about for years to come

Game looks solid, love the addition of bowl patches-Something little but adds a lot to the authenticity of the game.

The addition of bowl patches is nice but I do hope the blog is about something else. If not, that's OK because they're releasing more information later this week.

"IF" is the key. I know a lot of guys want these little details like dreads and patches, but they mean nothing if linebackers are turning on a dime and knocking down passes. More glove options mean nothing if defensive backs turn for the ball before receivers. So this blog better give us something about gameplay.

Right now, these screenshots and this info is making me more convinced that NCAA 12 will be the ONLY football game I buy this year. I didn't buy NCAA 11 when it released. I just recently traded Madden 11 in for NCAA 11. NCAA 11 is a far superior football game, IMO. I have had some incredible football games.

Not just BOWL patches, but the Florida State screenshot confirms conference championship game patches as well!

Was this the big presentation info we were supposed to get today? Bowl patches?

yes. I don't recall anyone saying it was going to be huge? unless I missed something?

I like fine details as well as anybody.

But when I hear presentation info I think more along the lines of pre-game, halftime, sideline reporting, etc.

It's the little things, that make a game, something you want to replay over and over again. Bowl patches to me, adds a personal touch. What if you're one of these, that takes that 1 star, 2 star school and takes them to the promise land, how sweet is it going to be to see a BCS Bowl Patch on your school.

I wonder though, what about teambuilder? Will the patches be able to go on them?

Folks complaining about patches, there is a key phrase I have lived my life by.

"Patience is a virtue"

Patience my friend.

"in-depth details along with videos showing you the IMPROVEMENTS made to PRESENTATION and GAMEPLAY in NCAA Football 12" will be out later this week.

I highly doubt that any information regarding gameplay will be in today's blog

yep, kinda like on pro evolution when the champions league patch shows up on your team's kit for the first time- it's a cool thing.

While this is nit-picky, #28 for Alabama is Dee Milliner, and does not have dreads. I know its minute, but it wouldn't take long to perform the due diligence on rosters for details like that. You know they are already doing it b/c they get the numbers and positions right for the most part, so you know they have looked him up. I think they are just trying to get around the whole player-likeness thing. (I mean, I don't know who they think they are fooling. They use correct, height, weight, position, and number, but then throw dreads on the model and say that isn't Dee Milliner.)

Maybe you did. And it was in fact "announced" since you changed that part in my quote.

Check the forum.

when was bowl patches announced before today?

when today's news was first "promoted", it was said to be an unannounced presentational feature. not some mind blowing big feature or anything.

If it's little things that make the game, then patience isn't necessary here. This patches announcement should be more than enough to send people into a frenzy. At least if pylon physics didn't already do it.

Honestly though, patches are just another removed then re-added feature. I really hope the blog they release today isn't focused on this.

Unless it is about a lot of other little things that were in the previous gen and are now finally bringing back to us now. That might be pretty cool to see all of the things we once had now come back.

Nice addition, I love the details just as much as anyone here on OS. But man this is not anything I care to hear an announcement for.

# 40 radney @ 04/18/11 04:08 PM
I hope that the field gets chopped up as the game goes along.
