Madden NFL 12 Cover Athlete Finals: Peyton Hillis vs. Michael Vick

The Madden NFL 12 cover athlete is down to the final 2 athletes. Mike Vick (beating Adrian Peterson - 59%/41%) vs. Peyton Hillis (beating Aaron Rodgers - 61%/39%).

Voting has already begun and the Madden NFL 12 cover athlete will be announced on SportsNation April 27, at 4PM ET on ESPN2.

Lol I bet neither of these guys get the cover. This thing is going to get exposed the first year they've done it.

Any ways isn't the fan vote one part of how they are deciding it?

Vick is too controversial to be a coverboy and Hillis just is not a big enough name (although it's still the only NFL game around so could get away with putting anyone on the cover)

Meanwhile Aaron Rodgers is a superbowl champion and a rising star...Seems like the most likely choice.

what I dont understand is how Vick crushed the competition each round.

I mean every single Giant, Cowboy and Redskin fan surely voted against him. So how does he run away with each weekly vote again?
Plus, its not like he's getting the red state votes.

Something smells here. And its not Philly itself. That always stinks there.

Probably because he's possibly the most popular player in the NFL as evidinced by his pro bowl votes.

I want Vick on the cover but I don't want the Madden curse to get him. So Hillis on the cover and have him out for the year with a torn ACL in the first game. lol.

He led brady by 40k with 2 weeks to go (probably as marketing kicked in full gear as the total number of votes nearly doubled).

Vick is simply very popular. Sure, there are reverse jinx votes and whatnot in this poll, but to think that's a meaningful number is silly (outside of the Charles/MJD 50%/50% matchup). Most are surely just voting for who they want on the cover.

I was supporting Vick through the whole competition but when I saw Hillis in the finals I had to vote for him.

Don't care much for the Pro Bowl I vote sometimes but, I didn't think he'd beat out Manning even though he's not in AFC.

Maurice Jones-Drew would have been nice on the cover although he wouldn't win. Still can't believe he got beat by Jamaal Charles especially with how widely popular he is although I can see how Charles could get the best of him. I think the better franchise(Chief fans) got the best of MJD.

The fact that some of you people wouldn't buy the BEST football gaming franchise on the planet period due to a certain somebody possibly being on the cover is beyond me...Its YOUR loss if you ask me. Mike Vick has more than paid his debt to society and is STILL paying his debt to society for the acts he committed. The guy had a phenomenal year, may have been his best year passing the ball. Peyton Hillis is the truth don't get me wrong. I'm just tired of hearing about people kicking this guy while he's down. Get over it. I'm pre-ordering my madden as soon as the opportunity presents itself. May the best man win the madden cover!
