iOOTP 2011 News Post

iOOTP 2011 is coming to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch next month. Check out the details over at the official site, including a Q&A with the Developer, Markus Heinsohn. Screenshots can be seen right here.

Some of the announced features include:
  • Three game modes - Major Leagues, Fictional, and Historical - with unlimited career play:
- Major Leagues lets you take the helm of your favorite team and guide it through the 2011 season and into the future.
- Fictional offers two leagues full of fictional players and the ability to set them up with 2 divisions and 8 teams, 4 divisions and 16 teams, or 6 divisions and 30 teams.
- Historical serves up three exciting past seasons to recreate - 1923, 1965, and 2004 - with the chance to buy more in-game for just $0.99 each!
  • Action driven by the ultra-realistic OOTP game engine, letting you simulate games or play them out individually as you dictate strategies and follow the exciting play-by-play commentary.
  • An in-depth financial system that lets you trade players, negotiate contract extensions, sign free agents, draft players, move players between the active roster, minor league roster and the disabled list, and more.
  • Managerial options that include depth charts, in-game strategies such as defensive alignments and hitting tactics, and the ability to set your lineups, rotation, and bullpen.

new to ootp and very interested.

let me know if i get this right...it will be released as a universal app, so i can pay once and have it on my iphone and ipod if purchased on the same account. Then, i'd be able to use my iphone and ipad with the same frachise (even when the optimized ipad version comes out)? thanks for your help!

pay once and use on all devices will definitely be the case.

however unless the devs have something cooked up they haven't mentioned yet, you will end up with two separate franchise "save games" on the two devices. they would need to implement a server-side "save game", and i don't see that happening.

there will probably be a way to jump through some hoops and copy the save game from one device to another (jailbreak?). but it won't be easy, and you would have to do it everytime you want to switch devices.

Yeah, it's the same in the PC version. There are no Logo's. There are mods though.

Why do you think it'll be out in May? As far as I know, April is still when it will be released.

I think it's around 1-2 weeks. Give or take.

Here's hoping my Ipod can recover in two weeks from the little swim it took last night.

How does one, since it was hinted, obtain actual team logos in the iPhone version?

I am curious about this also. Perhaps the iphone version will have an "Add-On Central" lite version ?

PS - My Ipod is back up and running. The Bag o' Rice trick actually worked.

Nice. Glad your iPod is ok.

Yeah. Maybe someone will have an "add on" file from a "third party" on the app store after this hits.

Thanks!

That's my guess. The PC/Mac version has had add-on central for a few years now. I just don't know how the download/install would work with iOS. I'm not an iOS expert.
