NCAA Football 12 News Post

Over the next 5 weeks, EA Sports will show 25 new plays that you will find in NCAA Football 12.

New offensive plays will be shown every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while a new defensive play every Tuesday and Thursday. Each new play will be accompanied by a screen of the play art and a brief description of why the play has been added to NCAA Football 12.

Play #3 features the Shotgun Spread Flex Wk Y-Stick.

Quote:
"Shotgun Spread Flex Wk Y-Stick – Another spin on a staple play of the Air Raid offense that’s used by Houston, as well as others. Shotgun Spread Flex Wk Y Stick calls for the halfback to motion out of the backfield to the right. This motion puts him in a spot that allows the Y-Stick concept to develop."

Now, this is my type of play. Sending the back in motion--- I love it.

They haven't said a word about gameplay, so how exactly can you be worried? They typically don't talk gameplay until later each and every year.

There's also the decided advantage of motioning the RB out and getting a quick read on whether the defense is in Zone or Man... this play should be in the Run & Shoot playbooks too, even though June Jones hardly ever motions the back out like in this play.

Maybe we'll have CUSTOM PLAYBOOKS this year and we can add this to OUR VERY OWN PLAYBOOKS!

And... whilst we're talking about motioning guys... it would be nice if EA went back to the way it used to be... when you could start a WR in motion and then immediately send him back to his original spot... like the Run & Shoot used to do. Now, once you send a guy in motion he has to complete the entire motion before sending him back... which takes time and also looks ridiculous.

I pray we have custom playbooks because Alabama has this exact play in the actual playbook.

What I do wonder though is if they adding new plays, what plays are they taking out ? Because I know last year Madden took out a hell of a lot of plays.

I'd like the option to decide on motion at the play call screen rather than at the line of scrimmage. That's how it's done in real life.

That's true, particularly in the Run & Shoot and the way it was run in the 1980's/90's... but it's not that big of a deal to me to flip to whichever WR I want to motion... I just want to be able to send them back to their original spot at any time, like it used to be in EA games and the way it is done in real life.

I doubt we see any videos of actual game play until end of April to early May. But when they do start posting videos I hope they be LONG videos. At least 5 minutes long.

Like just give a quarter of actual game play. That would be cool.

i agree hope the defense can keep up but im sure they going to put some good defensive plays that we can use to counter the offense but this play is going to kill the defense if they in man the middle going to be wide open

I still don't see why we just can't audible to go under center or to shotgun that will add plays also, but more creative.

The middle is always wide open anyway.....Slants were an automatic 1st down majority of the time.

Eh, not a big fan of forced motion plays. They usually come back to bite me because I cannot move other players.

I really hope multiple players can be put into motion; otherwise the option offense and endarounds are still crap.

Both very valid and excellent points!

Why do you need to put multiple players in motion to have success with the option or end arounds?

Being that we pick apart a video about dreadlocks and sunlight.

It would be marketing suicide to release a video every week.

Do you know how much negative publicity they would get from every time they posted a video of a this game before they have finished it?

I've been advocating for the shovel pass for years, including sending videos to the EA team of exactly how this play is run. It always goes unnoticed and/or ignored. If it's in the game... LOL
