NCAA Football 12 News Post

According to Kevin McGuire of The Examiner, NCAA Football 12 is headed to the PC, for the first time since 1998.

Not seeing anything official at Gamestop or the official website, so we'll take the wait and see approach on this one, but it sure sounds like great news, if it turns out to be true.

"NCAA Football '12 will be released on July 8, 2011. It will be available on the Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Microsoft Xbox 360. For the first time since the 1998 edition, the game will be made available on the PC as well."

the NCAA 12 site only shows PS3 and Xbox 360. but that probably doesn't mean much.

This source says it will be back for the PC this year which would be awesome considering the mods that could be done in terms of rosters, edits, etc.

Anyone heard if they are making a PC version?

Wow they actually put emphasis on it coming back to the PC for the first time since 98, they didn't just lump the PC in with all the other consoles they release it on like a lot of uninformed sites do. I won't get my hopes up but if it's true this is huge (for me).

Yeah, I'd be all over the PC version.

I'd probably get both 360 and PC.

Usually PC games come out a couple days/weeks after the console versions, so it would be nice to rent the 360 version and then choose to purchase 360 and PC.

I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy both versions if there are quality improvements this year, largely just b/c of the amount of customization that could be done with a PC game.

There are PC games that I'll still play just b/c the cult following has modded it into a whole new game that is timeless. It's something that could be possible with dynasty, etc.

The article from the Examiner appears to have gotten his info the the NCAA Football series wikipedia page. He lists the 8th as the release when online retailers have the 12th listed, which is the standard second Tuesday of July.

I'd be interested in this, the modding community that could develop would be worth it.

if that is true, then I expect Madden to follow suit.

I refuse to get my hopes up... EA has let me down too many times.

Ah I can't help it!

If true, that is fantastic news!

Mixed bag for me, only because I don't know the specs and if it will run on my laptop the way I want it to run --- Which means I'll likely have to drop a sum of money for a PC Setup to play this....

PC is definitely the way to go - so much easier to roster edit and just navigate the menus - Plus modding is ridiculous.

This would be rather huge - Not only the aesthetics can be Modded, but gameplay can be modded as well to our liking.

I would consider NCAA FB 12 for PC. It all depends on the System Requirements. I am not getting sucked into buying a new video card every year to run games. While next gen systems were hyped for high end graphics we have really only had a couple of years worth of progress in the last five years. The games seem frozen in time. Maybe Microsoft needs gaming to return to the PC in bigger numbers to reverse the trend towards tablets. Between the Apple iPad and all the Android tablets they may see it slipping away. Current PCs might deliver better graphics than a console.

HOWEVER, like others have said, i'm sure the requirements are more than my current PC can handle right now to perform at an optimal level. Same with my laptop. So i really dont want to shell out money for new video cards and sound cards and other stuff just so i can run this game the way it needs to be. But it would def be something to think about.
I would think the game's detail sliders would allow you to make it look/play on par with the XBox 360, which would be far below what cutting edge PCs can put out now. So there should be some leeway.

If this is true I will be freakin pumped. The modding possibilities will make the game a must have. Look at what communities have done to MVP 05 and the following that that game has.

So your machine must be pretty ancient eh? I hear what you're saying about the big TV (plus couch heh) although a lot of us run our PCs to TV. I use an XBox 360 controller with my PC on a 96" screen :P The other thing is the number of players. If it's too hard to get 10 dependable people for an OD on the PC I'll have to go Xbox 360.
