2K Sports have just posted MLB 2K11 Developer Diary #4, going over the revamped fielding system, animations, fielding sliders and more.
Quote:
"I’m an avid gamer and the most important part of any sports game is player differentiation. I expect a 75 rated player to feel different than an 85 and so on. This is always difficult to accomplish because, traditionally in sports games, there are so many ratings and trying to make each attribute affect a player’s performance can be very challenging. In MLB 2K11, our fielders are differentiated by three skills:
1) Range – broken down to range and anticipation
2) Glove
3) Arm – broken down to strength and accuracy
By simplifying things, it allows us to introduce new elements of gameplay and, more importantly, differentiate the players. With that said, let’s get right to it and introduce the new features."
By the way I would love to see how the PS3 & 360 games compare. Jaggies have been a big issue for the PS3 version in previous versions. Obviously 2K sees the 360 has it's main audience for MLB but I am planning to pick up both games for the PS3.

As am I... they need to get both versions up to par.
Man, I cant wait to buy this game...HOWEVER, I hope most of yall understand the demo thats most likely is coming on tuesday will be just like the show. (a build from around december or so) so please dont expect all the life changing things we are excited about to be all up in that demo. While there may be some, all the coolness we are looking for resides in the final product which I am confident is what I and all of us have wanted in a baseball game from 2K. Just a friendly heads up to quell the bashing that is likley to come from over expectations from the demo.

What we get in 2K demos is usually what we get from the game. I wouldn't expect a whole lot of core gameplay change at all, perhaps just a few minor things that I'm sure will need patching.

Hopefully the reason MLB The Show's demo is already out and MLB 2k11's is not is because the MLB 2K11 demo will be from a more current build.
I already liked what I saw in the Phillies/Rockies video released earlier, but now after this? Those vids looked fantastic. Yeah, graphics and animation transitions could be better, but they are already better than 2K10 and the gameplay looks really good.
