Oh Dave Cameron, why must you taunt me?

With all the offense we've seen tonight and we've still got six innings left to play...
No, Dave, we don't. Not for two more weeks.

There is non of that in this demo.

I think I maybe saw this once in 10 where the first baseman bobbled a throw and I'm over 100 games into my season.

This just happened in the bottom of the 10th in a 1-1 game. I'm the Giants and Lincecum is at 152 pitches with 13 k's on the default settings. I have 7 hits and the Rangers have 6

I think a lot of people are forgetting that last year's demo didn't look/sound as good as the retail version either. I'd say it's the nature of having compressed demos for DL.

Pitching is difficult, as with all throws including throws in the field, dosent require you to pull back much on the analog control, makes it harder to move back in the reverse direction.

Batting is also difficult, either I am way late or too early. Feel the need to swing at everything, hard to locate and react to pitch location. Dont like the fact that as I pull back on analog, the batter starts stride towards pitcher, seems backwards. I have to read how to hit.

Fielding seems canned, didn't feel I had control over fielders.

Saw something I didnt like. CPU runner on 3rd, 2nd inning nobody out, next batter hit a hard grounder that got passed my 3rd baseman playing in!!! Why is the default playing in at this point of the game? Does it have anything to do with the demo being only 4 innings?

For the record I only played one game.

The demo feels like 10 but with the analog controls. The commentary is still underwhelming especially compared to the other baseball game. I will probably wait for the price to drop for this game as it feels like the show 10.5

It was considered late in the game because of the short game. The CPU adjusted accordingly. Would not worry too much bout it.

I've played the demo and it looks great the analog controls are good it takes awhile to learn but it's great. Overall very good. I can't wait to get the full game on March 8th. Great job SCEA.

10.5? Really?

Good grief!

i'm gonna get flamed for this, but i miss Hud, the new guy, i dont like him that much, and he's basically got the same lines that Hud had, maybe its because i'm an angels fan, but then, listening to him and steve physioc for the last 9 or 10 years, he definitly talks a little differently, i honestly think that they (SCEA) gave him some bad timing and bad lines, because he's definitly more enjoyable to listen to in a real broadcast than in the show, oh well, other than that, i like the addition of balks (i had like 2 or 3 in a row because i was frustrated after a basehit and i was rushing the pitches, lol. i also like the new interface, very fresh. although, there was one thing that bugged me just a little, the third and first base coaches reacted a little too quickly to foul balls at them (hell, the one thrid base coach reacted like it was a screaming liner at his feet but it was very slow and almost didnt reach him, lol) but this happened early in mlb 10 too (but with the guys in the dugout, actually, i was able to hit a thrid base coach once, lol) anyways, there were two other things that seemed off, on one play, Yorvit Torrialba (i cant spell it) was waiting for a pop up and just stood there and moved a little bit like 5 times (it was like 18 mph wind) and then it dropped and he made no effort to catch it, and then on one fly ball straight to julio borbon he either, hopefully lost it in the lights, or he just glitched, whatever it was he came in a bit, stopped, and then dove and missed it, and i got a tripple, with pable sandoval, lol, fun demo though, cant wait till the full game, only 14 days left

I was just going to post the opposite. I've only gone 3 innings and I've already heard Karros contribute more to commentary then Hudler in the last 3 years. I've been very pleasantly surprised with Karros so far.

ignore my checked-yet-missed spelling mistakes, lol

After 5 hours of waiting, I just played my first game. I won 1-0, with the only run coming off of a Buster Posey home run. Timing is my main problem with hitting, defense was good for me, and I like the new pitching. Just excited me even more about playing the full version.

Hey! No fair! CPU Bruce Bochy just brought in Mota from the 'pen in a 5-5 game in the 6th. Would've loved to bring in Feliz in the last half-inning up 5-4...

EDIT: Karma, man. Kinsler raps a single over a leaping Tejada to put Texas back in front.

but its like i said, rex had bad timed jokes that no one got, i got a few of them, but they were badly timed, they've had the whole production time to go through and rework the commentary for Karros, and not to mention Karros has a different, less commical broadcasting style compared to Rex Hudler, i mean, sure, its nice to hear a new voice, but i'd still take rex over karros, and i'd like to see mr vascersian get a little more excited on someplays, like that time he broadcasted that ame in tampa against the yankees where Greg Olson threw out Carl Crawford from right field, the only times i've heard him get that excited on the show would be when i purposly made diving catches in the outfield to end the game so i could hear him get excited, lol, which i did in mlb 06, the fielding kind of makes it difficult to pull of diving outfield catches unless their absolutely necessary. so any time i hear him get excited on a play, it feels odd, thanks alot mlb the show, lol

After finishing my first game, I really like what I see so far.

At first I was a bit disappointed by analog pitching since I expected it to be like 2K where you do different motions for each pitch (which was pretty much the only thing I liked about the 2K games). But after a few innings I began to appreciate MLB 11's method since it can be challenging to maintain accuracy on the flick up. When I missed my spots, I felt like it was my fault unlike in the past when it felt random.

As for batting, I like it so far even though I obviously need to practice. I was a great hitter in previous games and trying to figure out the best time to pull back and how to best flick forward is a welcome challenge. Even my crappy groundouts feel more satisfying since I am doing more than just pressing a button; it's hard to explain, but I like it.

I haven't had a chance to get a feel for analog fielding yet since I didn't get many fielding opportunities (stop striking everyone out Lincecum, GEEZ). So I'll hold off on my opinions for now. But I REALLY like how the outfield feels deeper now. Chasing a ball down in right-center felt like more work than previous games.

So all in all, thumbs up from my first impression

Its the show, so its good as expected. but it is what it is. the new features were a waste of time for me...ive got better things to do than re-learn something ive been doing forever, analog controls will be disabled as soon as it gets unwrapped on the 8th. im pretty sure thats the sole reason for the demo is for the analog controls but i have ZERO interest in that. hopefully the retail version has some improved ball physics and simulation gameplay

Can someone tell me how to hit the cut off man? Thanks. I can't seem to figure it out with analog fielding.
