NBA 2K11 News Post

The next NBA 2K11 patch will include 3D support for the PS3 and 360, according to Ronnie2K's Twitter feed.

Unfortunately, he also mentions there will be no gameplay fixes in this patch. However, ongoing issues with unranked games will be fixed.

Quote:
"All 3D effects come down to one simple idea: make each of a viewer’s eyes see a slightly different image and you can create the illusion of depth on a 2D screen. Technology to create 3D movies evolved from two-color images, called anaglyphs, into the more modern projection systems that use differently polarized light. Most of the new 3D televisions use a technique called “alternate-frame sequencing” in which they first display the image for one eye and then display the image for the other eye, holding each image on the screen for 1/120th of a second. To make sure viewers see the correct images with each eye, glasses that cover-up one eye in exact synchronization with the television display, called active-shutter glasses, are used. What’s most exciting about the new technology is the quality of the images it produces. The new generation of active-shutter HDTVs let us make a 3D game using full resolution HDTV images at framerates up to 120Hz."

Yea that was very surprising to me. I was out there when they released it in NY. It's a nice feature... But I just don't see myself playing video games in glasses.

Wow.. Nevermind the horrible servers and the guys hacking and ruining the game online. Let's focus on a 3DTV patch so 2% of NBA 2K11 players can play... IN THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE D!

Players hacked their save files.. not only to have uncapped 99 myplayers but made them into giants. 8 some times 10 feet tall. I made a thread last month. Play some crew or pick up games... doesn't take long to find one lurking.

Can't be any less thrilling than the Skate 2 3-D code. <-- sarcasm -- There's a reason this technology flopped in the 80's.

Ridiculous. You call adding 3D a patch? Wheres the gameplay fixes? I played an association game today with an invisible ball SMH, What about getting rid of that stupid rainbow shot on the baseline

Sorry to dissapoint - but as one of the 2% I can say 3D is the truth. Is it mind blowing OMG gotta spend $800 to get one? No. But what it is can be described as an absolutely wonderful enhancement to watching TV. The tech today absolutely BLOWS away the old tech of the 80's. Just a bad comparison.

I so look forward to the patch..and Killzone 3...and Crysis 2....and MLB: the Show, etc.

The suits above them make a decision that they don't interact that much, not the Devs fault.

Seriously. They have time to add 3D support but not ONE gameplay change?

Actually I spent more than that when I bought it in September - but lo and behold I walked into Best Buy a day after Christmas and there was a 50" 3D Samsung for about $850. If Only I waited a little bit

1. They had been working on this 3d patch since BEFORE the game dropped. I recall reading IGN impressions of it back in early fall. It just took them until now to get out to us.

2. They already put out 2 gameplay patches - it's not's not they have been sitting on their hands. I know the game isn't perfect but lets be realistic.
