NBA 2K11 News Post

The next NBA 2K11 patch will include 3D support for the PS3 and 360, according to Ronnie2K's Twitter feed.

Unfortunately, he also mentions there will be no gameplay fixes in this patch. However, ongoing issues with unranked games will be fixed.

Quote:
"All 3D effects come down to one simple idea: make each of a viewer’s eyes see a slightly different image and you can create the illusion of depth on a 2D screen. Technology to create 3D movies evolved from two-color images, called anaglyphs, into the more modern projection systems that use differently polarized light. Most of the new 3D televisions use a technique called “alternate-frame sequencing” in which they first display the image for one eye and then display the image for the other eye, holding each image on the screen for 1/120th of a second. To make sure viewers see the correct images with each eye, glasses that cover-up one eye in exact synchronization with the television display, called active-shutter glasses, are used. What’s most exciting about the new technology is the quality of the images it produces. The new generation of active-shutter HDTVs let us make a 3D game using full resolution HDTV images at framerates up to 120Hz."

It's one thing to want a patch that impacts a larger portion of the user base [I get that] - it's another thing for you guys to imply 2K is resting on their laurels. This is the consensus sports game of the year by most critics yet if I didn't know better by reading this thread its a buggy mess that 2K has made no attempt to fix.

SMH.

From the responses in here you would think the game was completely broken..sheesh.

Looking forward to this. Doubt I'll play it more than a couple times on my 3DTV (mainly because it's in a different room and I'm not going to keep moving the console back and forth) but I'm definitely going to try it out.

A bunch of whiners in here. Its a small patch to show some new technology. The game is already amazing, just play it and stop waiting for the next patch. Or move on to something else.

Get out of here with that control the Market... even when live was out it didn't exist... Just like nfl2k always being better than madden. We are spoiled... Remember when updates didn't exist. Now we complain about them... Yeah though so far... I'm not feeling the 3d patch. Which is cool cause I have mad homework to do.

Does anyone have any idea what the ongoing issues in unranked games they are referring to that will be fixed in this patch?

You can't complete a game without a disconnect right now unless you have default settings.

Foo,

I don't agree with your logic. They ARE currently working on '12, are they not? The game isn't 'broken' aside from online play. The rest are little quirks or things that are subjective to fix.

Again, this isn't subscription based. You bought a game and it has been supported free of charge. Using your logic you paid for a game and that's all they need to do since they gave you a product in return. If you feel things are broken (again, subjective when talking about fouls, etc) then using your logic you should have been an educated consumer and looked into the product and all it's issues upon purchase, no?

I'd rather my $60 be put into next year than catering to individuals that don't even have a common opinion on some topics. The game works outside of the online issue. And damn it, it actually works pretty well IMO.

This is the issue with this series though. All the research in the world can't prepare us for when they issue a patch and completely change the game, breaking some parts like unranked games, halfway through the life of the game.

The online community is only growing for these games, it's about time they stop treating online like it's the "crib" portion of the old 2k games that nobody really used. Every time someone complains about online, the same "you're part of a small minority" argument comes up.

The rosters for online are terrible and get MAYBE 5 updates when they put a new one out.
The lag online has been terrible for almost a month with a few working hours randomly during the day.
The highly touted "gamestyles" reset every single game in online leagues, leaving us with the option of playing on default or having to reset sliders before every single game.
You can flip a coin if you're going to get teamup to work without some kinda hitch.

These are the kinds of things that were put on the back of the box and never really given the clear effort they deserved. Now they just kinda work, but kinda don't... and it's been the same since these features were implemented for the most part.

The 2k hate is at a all time high this year I guess without EA sharing some of the attention people are getting out all their frustrations out on 2k, funny 2k releases maybe its best game ever and people act like it is trash.

But im seeing long pass from rondo connect to paul pierce while he covered by 2 defenders right on point i mean come on bro. At least 2k can release 2 or 3 patches that focus on gameplay instead of 1. So far they only release 1 that is a gameplay fix. Dude you have MJ on the cover the brother deserve at least 2 patches man.
Not saying that you did, maybe I have been hanging around the 2k official forum to much, here is where your problem lies 2k is trying to put into their game human error which happens all the time in real life where someone is not where they are suppose to be or the ball slips out of your hand causing a turnover into a video game and it can be frustrating especially when you feel that you did not do anything wrong and your being punished and the CPU for example is not.
