Gran Turismo 5 News Post

Trash talking doesn't only happen in sports, it happens in video game wars, as well. Check out what EA and Codemasters had to say, as they both gang up on Gran Turismo 5.

Courtesy of CVG, check out what EA had to say about the game.

Quote:
"What does make sense to me... I think they have a very sterile, almost car collecting type of product where that's mainly what we do and I think we can offer something different."

Now, see what Codemasters had to say.

Quote:
"GT5 is going to be a phenomenal product, with the time and investment Sony have made in it," he said. "You can have a technically phenomenal game, but you can also have a game concept that doesn't really appeal [to some racing fans] and could be accused of - and you have to be careful how you write this - of being boring."

I didn't jump on anybody. This is how debates work. Person A makes a point, Person B rebuts, and so on. If any of the posts I have made offended you, I apologize. Now if you would like to join the debate and explain why you feel GT is far from perfect, sans its development time, please do so.

As for the posts above, I'd take GT5's visuals over all of them, but that is my opinion. Although I'm not sure how one can make a reasonable comparison between a GT 5 and a PS2 game (TOCA). I'd still like to know why you feel it is better.

That's a PC and Xbox game of Toca 3...

Regardless, is it really that much different than the PS2 version? What I really want to know is what makes it better than GT 5 in your eyes. It's a great game, I just feel GT 5 supersedes it.

No offense taken man. I just see both of you guys in disagreement with a lot of negative posts towards this game. I'm fine with a good debate. Not sure if you have played Forza 3, but it does do a lot right.

Yes, the PC and XBOX 1 versions blew away the PS2 version just in steady framerate and visuals alone.

Hmm, interesting point. Perhaps I'll seek out the demo of the PC version. I still don't see how a game released almost 5 years ago can be superior to one released a week ago in any aspect, let alone visuals, but I digress.

LOL! I'm not saying that TOCA 3 is superior than GT5.................I'm saying that TOCA 3 PC and Xbox versions were better than the PS2 version of TOCA 3.

Just my take, GT5 is a great game, but there is room for improvement and there were a lot of expectations, from GT fanatics and casual gamers alike.

I hate reading anything that has "agenda" written all over it (such as continuously bashing the series in every thread), but there are some justified criticisms in my opinion of this game. I don't like seeing the mixed reviews but this can only lead to a couple of things: 1) the buyer will rent the game and determine if its the right game for them. 2) If Polyphony doesn't like the mixed reviews and hearing criticisms from its competitors, they need to step their game up.

That part wasn't in response to you, but rather BehindShadows, who sait he thinks the TOCA Series is superior. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm not particularly sure what that means, but calling yourself The Unbiased Gamer (or as your user title says, The Real Unbiased Gamer) is akin to LeBron James calling himself The Chosen One.

Game mode, career wise, real car damage and physics etc. GT5 is obviously graphics are superior its a new game on a new console.

But the character in Toca surpasses the GT5 one.

You still don't get it. So you're telling me in those GT5 photos there's a guy driving his car from the "in front of the car with no view of the road ahead" camera?
Huh? I was asking you a serious question, and then affirming that I did not photoshop that picture.

I'm not sure what you mean by "in front of the car with no view of the road ahead" camera, but all of those pictures were roughly from the same camera angle, which was my point.

You're in their respective photomodes which are two different applications, if you will.
Ok, I see what you mean now. So this is what you wanted?

GT 5:
Spoiler

Forza 3:
Spoiler

As someone who hasn't played Forza 3 in a long time, someone tell me if that isn't the right game. I still think GT 5 looks better, but that's purely an opinion.

There's but so much these systems can do. And in my opinion, and it's purely my opinion, if I didn't have any system I couldn't justify shelling out 299 just for that. If the PS3 was exactly the same price as the 360 I'd go PS3 all day for the game. Honestly though, I'd have to think about it. The A.I. in GT5 really isn't that good and honestly at times had me wanting to bang my steering wheel. I never had that with FM3.

EDIT: Don't know why PD insist we have all that junk on the screen. I like to drive like the FM3 screen shot, with nothing on screen. It's kinda hard with friends though because when I want to call out position I don't know who's car I'm looking at sometimes. lol. I like the horn feature in GT5 because I can just blow the horn now. But being that they have names over top of the cars with all other stuff it makes the horn moot. LOL. One game has horn but it's absolutely useless, the other doesn't have it but absolutely vital if racing in the purest form with no HUD.
I don't know if I would justify shelling out the cash for a PS3 just for GT 5 either, but I don't want to enter a console debate.

As for the intrusive HUD, yeah, I agree. Hopefully it can be patched.

Where did I jump on anybody?

Someone was jumping all over people in here saying there is senseless EA hate, etc etc, when this is a thread about EA/Codemasters and their own **** slinging that they started. And then said GT offers nothing but a glorified picture taker...

All I said, was just because GAMERS and CONSUMERS do not want to hear companies fling their poo like a bunch of fanboys on the internet, and would rather them not throw stones at glass houses and make a sim themselves that is better to prove their point. "Put up or shut up".

That is not jumping on anyone. Good grief. Senseless bickering about the same old 5-6 dev time, blah blah and other things is pretty annoying already. Especially with no real rebuttal other than clinging on to those factors. No game is perfect, we get that, but no need for professionals to sling their poop either. And that was the point.

I'll just drop it at that man.......a few of you guys just come off a bit too much on the defensive side for this game. I've been playing this most of the weekend and warming up to GT5 more than I did initially. I like the photo mode and think its cool feature which looks fantastic.

Back on topic, why in the world do you have to play to level 40 to unlock full damage? It is accessibility like this which hurts a game with so much potential.

I thought they said it was level 20 that unlocks damage?

"Full" damage model that includes mechanical and major structural damage isn't unlocked until level 40. Also, I think only race cars will feature the full damage model.

I just don't see how anyone can say this game is 100% what they wanted after as many delays and as much Dev time as they wanted. Granted no game is perfect on release, but not giving us full modeled cars, limiting damage model, a clunky menu system and lack of new tracks is just unacceptable after such a long time IMO.

Totally agree.....It's a good fun game but nothing special as a whole package.
