NCAA Football 11 News Post

One of the best parts about playing a college football video game is all the teams available for use. I have been playing NCAA Football for close to eight years, and I have basically tried every single dynasty path possible.

However, before I get to talking about dynasty paths, I would also like to add that in every single dynasty, there are three important tasks that I will always complete before I start playing games.

Good ideas here and many I've done myself. Good post to help preserve a great game from hitting the bottom of your gaming rotation.

I think I've tried them all. Good suggestions though.

Dave, curious to know the sliders you are using. I play on All-American default and feel it's pretty good to my skill level, but if there is something to improve the game from there and not making it too much harder or easier, then I am all ears...er, eyes I guess.

FWIW, I just started my 2nd season Minnesota dynasty. I finished 3-9 with 3 deflating OT losses. Let's just say I am horrible at kicking FG's.

I created Matt Seracen ( 72 ovr), Smash Williams(79 ovr) and Tim Riggins (77 ovr), made them Freshman on North Texas and named Coach Eric Taylor the head coach.

My dynasty has been dubbed Saturday Night Lights

Vince Howard , Luke Cafferty and JD McCoy will all be heavily recruited as they finish their Dillon Panther careers

The best dynasty setup that I've played is the All 12 conference dynasty. I like the idea of all 12 users trying to run their conference all the while the BCS and non-BCS playing each other twice a year. It's a good challenge depending on how good the dynasty members are.

What is the best team to use in each trophies category in Bowl,Championship,Awards and Rival team?

A dynasty with only Classic teams and players that is the best and most exciting type of dynasty for me....

It takes awhile to complete the teams and players but once in dynasty mode it is incredibly fun to play a big time matchup with a Miami team led by Michael Irvin, Bennie Blades and Ted Hendricks vs a Florida team with Steve Spurrier, E.Smith and Wes Chandler

All the great matchups from years past in one dynasty

While I wouldn't expect anyone to try the freakish things I do with my games, I do this with all my sports games:

I create a "side" franchise/dynasty with a team entirely comprised of family/friends/close co-workers/mentors/pets......basically anyone who's been significant/close to me at various points in my life. It's a fun distraction and I actually end up playing these franchises/dynasties more than the "real" ones. Just a thought...

Nice! I do that as well. With NCAA football it keeps on going via created recruits. Although it can lead to awkward moments when you tell your boy you made him a punter, LOL

Exactly! One of my good friends played college soccer, so I, of course, made him my kicker. Makes sense, right? He got pretty upset...thought he should have been a RB. Dude...you're a kicker.

I approve of this message.

From the forums: http://www.operationsports.com/forums/ncaa-football-sliders/442111-post-patch-3-sliders-all-american-wip.html

Options
Difficulty: AA
Quarter Length: 7-8 min
Game Speed: tested on Slow and Normal (Started playing on slow recently, works on both settings)
Speed Thresh: 35-45 (I play at 35, but any of these will work well)

Penalties
Offsides and False Start: 100
Holding:50
Facemask: 55
Offensive PI, Defensive PI , and KR/PR Interference: 100
Clipping: 55
Intentional Grounding, Roughing the Passer, and Roughing the Kicker: 100

Sliders (User first CPU)
Offense
QBA-15/15
Pass BLK-25/25
WR Catch-45/45
RBA-50/55 (Upped to 55 to increase cpu run game, might see too many broken tackles, will be monitered)
Run Block-35 *Note option and spread option teams need at least 45 or 50 user RB to have success/65

Defense
Pass Coverage-50/60
Pass Rush-30/30 (30 for user and cpu, along with 25 pass block, provides the best pocket possible. Blitzing is now risk/reward. More you blitz more people open. Cpu will not block everyone so sacks are their, but a good qb can see it coming and get the ball out quick. Also, cpu blitzes are more effective so watch out!)
Int-35/35
Run Defense-25/60 *Note option and spread option teams need cpu run D at 55 or 50 to work
Tkl-40/40

Special Teams (These sliders are more of a preference to the user, still suggest you use them)
FG Power-30/25
FGA-30/55
Punt Power-45/50
Punt ACC-30/70
Kick Off Power-45/50

Those are what I've been using and they play very well. Only thing I would possibly change is upping QB accuracy to 20 and giving RB Ability a slight bump. It's all personal preference, though. Playing with these sliders goes a long way towards defending robo-playcall, where they are always in a man when you run a screen or blitzing when you playaction.

I got "lucky" when I picked SMU (based on a desire to "run and shoot") b/c their QB, Kyle Padron has really solid ratings as a sophmore, so in addition to being a "BCS" buster project, I am pretty close to beaking ALL the school's season and career passing records with Padron...

I also broke a few school receiver (season) records with WR Keenan Holman, in his senior season...

So, that's turned into my focus as well, picking teams with player who I can break school records with...

It's kept me even more engaged in the third year, as I rack up the numbers with my senior QB...

Yeah, it can be important to pick up a squad with a good young quarterback.. otherwise, you are stuck for at least 1-2 years before you can really start to even run an offense.

I'm sure it is, I really dig the sub settings. Feels like more of my WRs and DL get involved that way.

# 17 Juiceman612 @ 11/16/10 06:00 PM
Wow, that QBA setting is a drastic shift from what I'm using. I'm interested to try these sliders out but considering I find the default settings on All-American to be fine I'm not sure what to think. Willing to give it a shot though. I use sliders in NHL and Madden and that improves those games by quite a bit. So I'm open to it.

+2! I'm all over this idea. Now if I could only find a way to create Minka...

I always pick a BCS school. This is the first year I've started with a good program in Michigan because the recruiting option is great (I use Heisman recruiting). It keeps the team from being too good.

I like the custom sounds and sliders but one thing I've had a lot of fun with is running the spread. It's flawed in the game but it's a nice change of pace from the traditional ACE sets I use.

# 20 Special27K @ 11/17/10 07:59 AM
Me and a friend are taking a couple 2* Non BCS schools (Toledo & Ohio) building them up to a consistant 4* and within that time hopefully seeing the landscape change and taking over some BCS 3* schools and building them into contenders.

Also with some extra GT's knocking Boise and TCU down a few prestige stars. Them being 5* programs is something we both disagree with, they just shouldn't be able to pull recruits like the Nebraska's and Michigan's. Silly EA.

Custom Heisman sliders on there too, some rough games and somehow we still pull semi-ridiculous upsets from time to time. They're good say 90% of the time.
