Not a lot of love for American cars when compared to the number of S2000s, Skylines and freaking Miatas.

Car list=aweeesmme!
Track list: Is it just me or is that list ot GTplanet a bit underwhelming? Most tracks are just variations.

They do not really feel that way when playing.

Plus there is a track editor, so the possibilities are going to be endless.

83 Toyota's really....? Other than that love the list I cant wait to drive the Bugatti
Veyron the fastest car in the world and something I have wanted to drive so bad, better in a game than not at all

Over 800 unique cars (if you group a bunch of the same variants into one car), tons of track options, including custom track layouts for endless possibilities...

How is there still a lot of disappointments?

Can not please everyone I guess.

Track list is okay, but there has to be unlockable tracks that aren't listed.

As for the cars, I would take 300-500 cars all with cockpit views over 1,000 with only 1/5 having cockpit views and the bazillion variations of a single car.

There's just a lot padding here with both lists.

My only disappointments on the track list have to be the glaring lack of Special Stage Route 11, Apricot Hill, Midfield Raceway, and Twin Ring Motegi.

As for the car list, I like it, but Polyphony really dropped the ball with the entry level cars in my opinion, as well as a few that I was hoping for. I sure would've liked to see:

Dodge Caliber SRT4 '06
Dodge Charger '06
Dodge Neon '00
Dodge SRT-4
Ford Fiesta '08
Honda Fit Sport '09
Hyundai Genesis Coupe '08
Mazda Mazda2 '07
Nissan Pulsar GTI-R '94
Nissan Pulsar '05
Nissan Tiida '04 (Versa SL for NA)
Scion tC '04

Very surprised to not see a single Porsche on the car list.

I am not. EA owns the exclusive license to Porsche. They sell a sub license to MSFT for Forza, read rumblings on the web they will not to Sony for GT5 because they see GT5 as a competitor (I know odd).

(wonders if Peter Moore ex 360 honcho but now head of EA Sports has anything to with that)

So they have RUF which are modified Porsche, like Callaway is to Corvettes and Saleen is to Mustang.

Track list is very disapointing, and I played the game at bestbuy last night. I wasn't too impressed with the graphics, and the physics felt off at times. This game took forever to be released, and I was expecting a lot more. I'll wait to hear reviews at this point.

Only Indy and Daytona for NASCAR?! I would hope they got more then that.

I disagree. When you take into account that this is not a NASCAR focused game, along with the fact that the course maker, if it is competent in the least, should be able to reasonably replicate a variety of NASCAR courses, it makes perfect sense to not waste valuable time on extra NASCAR tracks.

I wouldn't worry too much about lack of cockpit views. I'm sure they will be available, just not exact... you may have cases where in an '08 and dash is actually representative of an '05.

Case in point, the 1st gameplay video of the Mazda Miata. You can clearly see the dash view. Looking at the list, all the Miatas are "standard" cars.

I'm also disappointed about not having:
2011 Ford Mustang GT (412hp w/better handling vs the '05 GT with 300hp)
2011 Ford Mustang 500 (570hp)

And from your list.
'08 Hyundai Genesis Coupe
'06 Dodge Charger SRT

Any news on what will be available out of the box & what needs to be unlocked?

# 16 arsenal123gunners @ 11/15/10 04:47 PM
This may seem nerdy, but I can't wait to try out the test track, timing cars and such. I love crunching all of these numbers that you can get. It's gonna be awesome

# 17 arsenal123gunners @ 11/15/10 08:49 PM
Will we be able to choose what cars we race against, or is it random based on class or whatever

What video?

The few that managed to get their hands on the game early have reconfirmed that there's no interiors or cockpit view for standard cars. These are ported over from GT4, lack the deformation and dislodging of body panels, and low/high beam headlights of the premium cars.

What the hell did they spend 6 years doing with this game. What a joke. they won't be getting my money because I can guarantee online will be a joke like it is for every other sports game so with all these track and car limitations this game will get boring quick. I don't have time to dick around with a track editor, just give me some new tracks. I'll wait 6 months and get it for $25 (something tells me there will be a ****load of used copies around) used if there aren't any bugs which is highly unlikely.
I don't really think you understand how time consuming it is to rebuild from the ground up to the caliber it is? Did you read the review? The guy said the game physics and graphics were both superb.

# 20 Flawless @ 11/18/10 11:53 PM
I don't think anybody is questioning how time consuming it is to model these cars and tracks. Forza 3 had 2 years of development, but had 200 contractors around the world just modeling cars. PD doesn't outsource anything.

I'm in agreement that the lists are disappointing, especially the cars. Its got the "wow factor" with it being 1,000+, but just 6 models make up 150 cars. Why does there need to be 50 Skylines? Like I said, I would much rather have a trimmed down roster to 300-500 cars if it meant all had interiors and cockpit views. The whole standard vs. premium thing is really odd, and it makes the standard cars for me even more disappointing because GT doesn't have a proper hood cam. It's not a deal breaker for me though, just disappointing.
