I can sympathize with your frustrations. The problem is we as gamers are part of the problem.

We can't even make up our own minds let alone expect these companies to go in the red appealing to a small market.

Let's be real here - guys are not picking Live '10 en masse. So why invest money into something where you won't see a return?

I see you're thinking as a gamer... well I guess I'm thinking like a business man. I've spoken with EA on several design decisions that I don't agree but this wouldn't be one of them. They need to put their focus all on Elite. This title is make or break for them. Advocating good will on a game that sold terribly just doesn't make sense. And might I point out this exact thing is what we collectively asked for at the least and they are delivering.

So what would you rather have: a solid second competing basketball title for the future... Or new jerseys??

spot on^^

however, this is an opportunity to regain customer confidence if something different could have been done with these updates, show us a different philosophy with dna/ player ratings....

even if people play live 10 again(with updated rosters) the same way it was in 09/10 with the broken elements and duplicated dna for many players. that does nothing win back customers....

and if they/ us feel that it wont be a 1 year love fest turnaround then elite wont get the full effort yet again becuase like you said why try on a failing product.

its a lose lose situation.........

something different has to be done with these updates differently or its a big missed opportunity for this brand...

The problem with a lot of you is YOU don't even know what you want.

Gamers are a fickle bunch.... it's disgusting.
I'm happy as can be. Live 10 was one of the best efforts I've ever seen towards making a bball game. I know a lot of people on this forum look at me as if I'm a meth addict, frowning upon my love for Live, or call me a fanboy... but I really appreciate what was done with Live and I am so glad that we get to play it for another year. Hopefully EA understands what they had with 10 and continues to build on it.

It does make me wonder... did everyone who signed on the dotted line about making Elite get canned? lol... I'd say more than likely. I just hope they keep doing what they were doing with 10 and realize that they aren't going to steal casual sales from the other game because the other game looks better, period, and always will.

They need to focus on becoming a true sim and even if graphics stay mediocre, I think the hardcore gamer will appreciate it.

if only we had the ability to edit over the current players or free agents names in the game especially those FIBA players

Can I have both?????? Yes thats the gamer in me talking! Pared, your responses are the reason I post on here. This is the type of healthy debating that I need to get over the fact that I am without an extra basketball game this year.
It just creases me when I log on and see that madden update #4 gets like 7 new jerseys and they couldn't just throw that into the Live updates as an extra. Now thinking like a business man its a smart move to not waste money on it, but its also kinda dumb not pleasing the people who pay their bills, their rent, and feed them from week to week..thats right the gamers. I mean, you have to admit, EA has lost a big fan base and they should do everything they can to keep the ones they have and win back the other ones.
Now I know that the basketball franchise is just a small part of the companies money makers, not like FIFA or Madden, but I still believe all this reflects badly on the brand as a whole. Image if something like this happened to Madden or FIFA, I bet EA would be bending over backwards to give the fans everything they could to keep them around.

Haha! I hear you bro... that response made me smile. You're right and I feel the same way... but I guess seeing the "other side" tends to skew my opinion somewhat.

I wish they would throw in that other stuff... but knowing the technicalities they are dealing with... I know the chance of it happening was always around 10%.

Well I can officially say, "I'm over it!" I think I have vented enough, EA is gonna do what EA is gonna do. I am just playing the wait and see game now.
Wait and see what the roster updates are like.
Wait and see if we do get some extras..."cough jerseys cough, cough.
Wait and see if Elite makes it out this season
and wait and see if anyone here will let me join there Live run team!!! I have yet to play one and I so want to.
Anyway it was fun now I am over it anyone wants to play sometime my gamertag is ajSTINGER16
AND my last thing.....if any EA DEV's on here want to give us a big surprise I got one word....JERSEYS!!!! that is all!

I have been a big NBA Live Fan for years........but I think EA made a big mistake by not bringing out a game in October. In past years, I would not even try the 2k game;however, now that I have been forced to play it. I LIKE IT A LOT......AND THIS ROSTER UPDATE DOES NOT INTERESTED ME. If there was an EA game, I never would have played the 2K game......

# 49 sheredia @ 10/21/10 11:25 PM
ea has to look at this in the long term.....they may be losing diehard fans to 2k due to this so-called delay. the bottom line is if releasing the game will lose them money, then they won't release it. period. the diehard fans already have live 10. they should do a total update for live 10 including rosters, jerseys and stadiums. at no charge. this will satisfy the loyal fanbase and at least keep them coming back for future releases. if they don't, it will be pretty hard to win them back.....the ball is in ea's court right now.

Completely agree.

NBA Live 10 in hindsight has A LOT of attribute tweaking and gameplay changing possibilities. The siders worked and the global attribute settimg were just that...GLOBAL. Meaning changing players was a breeze instead of individually. For a guy that like to edit and make the gameplay better or more realistic NBA Live 10 was very good.

NBA Elite is going to have to be completely impressive if it doesn't have these key editing features. The ONLY way to do that is if it takes the FIFA and NHL approach to physics and animational gameplay

# 51 Pared @ 10/24/10 12:42 PM
The general public doesn't want to have to edit the game, nor should they have to. EA needs to release it properly.

And the guys that feel they edit the game zealously are in the minority. Most just buy the game, play and expect it to be great as is.

Well said. With all this patch work games need I think we as customer have grown accustom to teaking games to make them better. IMO, companies have they let's get it in their hands and we'll fix it later. It's ashame it has come to this but, I blame us.

Good points. I agree with your perspective.

Your 100% on the mark rayray34, EA need to win fans back and updating uniforms and courts is the least they could do...

Ok I have one big ? I gave my copy to my nephew to borrow. I am wondering with the new update, have the contracts been updated for dynasty mode or will lebron bosh and dwADE etc be free agents after the first season again? I may want the game back sooner than later if this has been addressed.

# 57 gfunkadelphia @ 11/15/10 01:37 PM
nevermind. Found it. Someone posted the ea update on a different board. The contracts have been updated ! Nice job EA!
