Wonder if we'll have to restart our Career Modes for growth to take effect.

I hope we don't, but I have a feeling we are going to have to start from scratch for the new updates to take effect. Who knows though, maybe we will get lucky.

I figured once the rest of the world got ahold of this game, EA would have enough feedback to work on a patch.

I'm interested to see what the fix is to the player growth in MM. Now we just need a projected date.

I hope gameplay issues definitely means tackles and pressure. Fix those, and this game is just glorious.

I hope they fix the scheduling for the Cup fixtures. I am at the semi-final stage of the league cup in England and in Round 3 of the FA Cup (playing as Arsenal) and I have yet to play an opponent from outside of the Premier League. Each of the rounds of Cup games prior to the quarter-finals are supposed to be randomized draws for each opponent and through starting Career Mode as a Manager 4 times, my first League Cup opponent has been Aston Villa each time while my League fixtures varied each year.

Amen. You can fix the pressure issues using CTT but the tackling issue makes the game nearly unplayable. I used some of the generic CTT sets that were around last year that slowed down the build up and toned down the pressure. They worked well last year but with the tackling issue this year, the CPU never even mounted an attack on World Class against me. The slower buildup completely nerfed them. Even if I avoided using the standing tackle button and played the passing lanes, an AI teammate would end up running into the opposing player and take the ball away every time.

Also, make the default ball used when it snows the Hi-Vis Tracer for the respective leagues.

Does anyone on this forum possibly have a ETA on the patch? This whole ASAP isn't helping. EA should at least release a statement on when the patch is at least due or round about due. This will put a fair amount of gamers at ease by giving us an estimated date they are trying to release it by. Leaving us in the dark is just BS in my honest opinion. They owe over 2 million people and explanation..and soon.

Is that so?

My bad, make it more like 2.6 million or more.

Biggest sports game launch ever with over 2.6 million games sold and over $150 million generated at retail in less than a week.

Electronic Arts also announced that, based on internal estimates, FIFA 11 has shattered sales records for the title with 2.6 million copies sold through at retail in Europe and North America through Saturday, October 2 (It is now 10 days later). FIFA 11 is the fastest selling sports game ever and the title is off to its best start ever in markets around the world, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and North America.

Developers typically don't like to give ETAs on title updates because they not only have to solve the issue(s) at hand, but also pass through MS/Sony certification prior to release. Somewhat of catch-22 for them... if they give a timeframe and something doesn't go according to plan, people are just as, if not more, upset.

# 16 dmacgreg37 @ 10/13/10 09:28 AM
This happened a few years back when an EA game bounced out of MS testing. I believe it was released on PS3, but 360 was an extra 2+ weeks. Maybe NCAA 09? I can understand them not giving us an ETA, but it is frustrating.

Just listened to the new FIFA 11 podcast and they didn't mention fixing tackling at all in terms of gameplay issues. They said there are a ton of things they're not even mentioning, so I'm hoping and actually believing that there are certain things they won't mention were touched until after they release the patch.

The podcast was decent, and they did address the problems for about 6 minutes, but they certainly made it sound less than it is. I believe that they even said of the CM bugs that "people probably wouldn't even notice them without looking"....ummm, not so much.

Everybody says "fix tackling, fix tackling!", and I agree that it is a big issue, but it's also kind of ingrained in the whole style of what this game is.

In NHL 11, they basically made a conscious decision that real hockey was far too chaotic and frustrating because you lose the puck every two or three seconds in traffic...so, they made it so that stick checks are either totally ineffective, or draw penalties when you're just trying to hit the puck away.

In FIFA 11, the devs seem to have decided that real soccer would bore most gamers because one side keeps posession of the ball far too long...so the response to this was to create this frenetic gameplay where you get a defender with basically and degree of aggression in the way and he can just shoulder barge the ball away. This causes much more of an arcadey, back-and-forth game.

What I'm saying is that I don't know what change you make with a patch that suddenly turns it into a "sim" game.

# 20 teambayern @ 10/14/10 12:43 PM
Agreed on that point. FIFA has had this kind of tackling in FIFA 10 and 09, so I don't have high hopes it can be quickly turned around. It's sort of a staple of this engine at this point.
