Peter Moore just confirmed NBA Elite 11's delay on his blog:
Quote:
Over the past three years, EA SPORTS development teams have had a laser focus on creating titles packed with innovation and unsurpassed quality. The acclaim from fans and critics on most of our titles the past few years makes us proud and it also motivates us to keep getting better.
This year, we set extremely ambitious goals for our new franchise, NBA ELITE. We are creating a game that will introduce several breakthrough features that have been missing from the basketball genre. Unfortunately, NBA ELITE 11 is not yet ready and we have made a decision to delay next month’s launch. We are going to keep working until we’re certain we can deliver a breakthrough basketball experience.
Well...I am disappointed...yes it is an "incomplete" game but I was having fun with it and was looking forward to giving the devs tons of feedback to help it improve...what does this mean for NBA Jam? I guess they just sit on the 360 and PS3 versions until Elite is ready?
co sign
hopefully they have nba jam up for download in the xbox marketplace or something
Seems like the right decision. More time doesn't necessarily mean a better game. I just hope the next time the game is set for release we're not told to feel the game and wait for a demo that only confirms what everyone was saying about the game in the first place.

NBA JAM for PS3 and 360 will be released as standalone versions. Once more info is available about this we will be sure to let all of you know.
Probably a good move... 2K11 already stole most of this game's thunder (and the demo kind of cemented that), so they can improve it and sneak in later in the year as an alternative for those who already got burned out on 2K11. If they made it slightly cheaper too, that would probably help (a la NFL 2K5)... but eating 4 months of sales is probably as much as the series can handle in terms of losing money.
Lets put out a demo for everyone to throw under the bus, then come back a week later to tell them that we have not finished our product and push back the original release date. FML EA lol
The question is, will NBA Elite 12 also be released in '11? I hope not...that would be less than a year of development time, unfortunately they basically screwed themselves over here. They will now have to release Elite 12 in 2012 and so on with the rest of the games, and 2k will continue to come out in the year previous. Meaning...who will wait 4 months when another basketball game is already out?
Way to go EA!!!! Elite was straight CRAP in my personal opinion. Apparently someone from the top agrees. Finally a stand on a crappy game has been made, MAP PROPS TO EA!!!!!
I'm glad but also it makes me sad. I think people will blame EA and the direction they are going for this and say "I told you so!" but it's true that Elite wasn't ready. It was not the idea; it was the execution.
It'd be prudent for them to take the whole year off and try to blend what they had with Live 10 and what they were trying to do with Elite.
Then they might have a game for the ages that is ground breaking. You can't just come with something so totally different... it'll put everyone off. You have to ease people in to change.
Edit: Live 10 w/ roster updates is still gonna be a great game.

I guess we'll see.
Agreed man
All you have to do is listen to the fans for a change and things will start to be different.
